Somwhere NewA Poem by Deron AlexisSomewhere New
At last she sees What I see Eye to eye The reflection of herself In my iris And the dream I was in Since I met her
Welcome to my mind The morning sheds gold And the night silver The wake up, the calm, Whenever she needs it
Look at how her hand Fits perfectly in mine The things I do For her tears to subside
She smiles at my wist To discern her every wish To make danger look secure To see crosses over canyons To make tide pools from tempests As if to us a thorn was as blunt The riptide was as shallow A fire would be couth As nature is benign I show her she’s divine When the animated trees in my mind Brought to life by love Lift her to the sky The inspiring thermal air Rushes through her hair The wind we rode To the heights above
Somewhere new Where I could pluck poems and songs Out of the air Zephyrs charm spoken phrases That she loves to hear The smell of strawberries everywhere Oh dear she’s doing that one sided smile again Hairline to hairline forehead to forehead Leaning to kiss over and over Now she knows how I feel Whenever I’m with her
