The CannibalA Poem by Deron Alexis
The Cannibal Only by
fangs can we resolve Only by
claws we see the answer The fleeting
thirst and passive aggression quelled
and extinguished doused
in blood No more
hunger! Finished
with pain ! No…?
More…? Fear…?
Am I
really crazy If I laugh
in a bloodbath? Did I
finally lose my mind?
I fight
everyday inside With an
enemy that hides his face My sanity
is a casualty But not
the only one I fear
for those that love me Hunger for
those that hate If once
I taste fresh blood I fear
it may be too late For then
in fire and water The world
I’ll over turn Or maybe
the world should be saved Maybe I
alone should burn
