Raven HeartedA Poem by Deron AlexisRaven hearted We do feel love, Like that which never ends. And yes we hold hands. And we would like to never let go. She looks so sublime. A dire, dark beauty. Gravity and attraction, In her black dress and lipstick. But I know like she does, What humans are inside. Deeper than our hearts, Wrapped in our very existence, Sitting beside love, And next to innovation, Is a dark shadow. A lust for what is wrong. They try their best to hide it. But when they miss a beat, It shows its ugly head. Sometimes sneaks From behind the mask, Spills their lies against them, And shrouds the earth in smog. A mask which in itself Was forged by social bigots. The fakest of the fake Who had the wax and porcelain to spare. but a raven in flight hath stolen both our hearts and gave it to the other so that when I met her we knew the shadow would not fight being at peace with us who accept our darker nature just as it is written all across her body like a blackened work of art raven in her hair raven in our eyes raven in our hearts her wicked one sided smile And where she walks The raven goes The moonbeam glows And all hidden in lies Are thus exposed Her raven black eyes See though their lies And renders most masks obsolete And so every time I dare kiss her, I’ll do it loudly. Just to make her laugh Her raven hearted laugh In a sad shadow filled world . © 2012 Deron Alexis |
