Abstract Face
While
walking through the woodland Searching
for myself I followed
the sound of sobbing And of
tears wasted on the floor
Her
hair flowed before her As she
sat on a fallen log A storm
cloud on her head Her hands
riddled in scars Her heart
split asunder She held
a wilting rose Picked before
last spring Sitting
waiting on that
which never came
I dared
to get closer Her pain
calling me to her And put
my hand on her shoulder She raised
her head And
made of scars Her face
was grafted Glyphic
and unreal A picture
of her sorrow
Faded burning
faceless Until she
carved the face in “Would
you even care!? No one
cared before Nobody knows What it’s
like!”
I put
my hand on the scars The grooves
that made the frown The permanent
teardrop She carved
in hopelessness Then held
her hand Cut with
rose thorns And from
when the blade slipped Put it
to my face Synthetic
made of plastic Numb docile
toxic So that
she saw We were
