FEAR

I smile at them

make my jokes

what if this face

this smile 

was just a mask

you'd never know until

it's too late

what if,what if

the storm of blight in my heart

takes over

what if the monster,the cannibal

were to break free

what if I lost control 

would I hurt them

would they help me 

would I burn it all to dust

would you stay

maybe my claws would rend us both to pieces 

I fear myself

I fear the poison

I fear the scorn

and all that's possible

when I lose control

You know the funny thing is people wear different mask's and you never know whom you will meet. You never know if the person behind the mask is going to be the best person you have ever met or is this person horrible, and evil.

Fear is a powerful feeling no matter if it is something that you are scared of or a person is what you fear. I enjoyed poem as well:)

Oh I understand that, I have that same fear though I am older. I want to be pretty enough, smart enough, and I want people to like me. I don't know why we are like this, but I know it is hard with so much going on.

Masks Of The Mind

A mask for reason, and one to forget,
to cover our feelings, or thoughts of regret.
A mask for happiness and one for pain,
for when the sun shines, or when it rains.

A mask for anger and one for doubt,
to hide the rage, and what it's about.
A mask for sincerity, and one of grace,
for a lack of honesty, or an accusing face.

A mask for integrity, or one to explain,
to cover confusion, or ignorance's shame.
A mask for indifference, or one of love,
to hide the hate, or a gift from above.

A mask for deception, to cover what's true,
a deception for me, a relief for you.
We all have our masks to use in their times,
for hurting or healing, it's all in our minds.

Fear is the older brother of death and those knowing it die a thousand times. You have given us a finely sttructured work carrying an intriguing portrait of self analysis. I truly enjoyed this.
