Black ManA Poem by T.S. Sky
Black Man
You are more than just a man Someone is jealous right now I say Black Man You are more than just a man You are looked down upon Taken for granted Loved, hated Secretly cherished Secretly scorned Black Man They tried to bring you down They put drugs in your communities They gave you everything bad to destroy you If you ask me who is they You are not woke Black Man They tried to kill your spirit They took away your rights as a human They gave them back With many stipulations Some of you have been so broken in spirit You can't stand anymore You lay down Waiting for death To come like snow On a lonely street One lamp in view Black Man I understand your pain When you cry I understand your tears I understand when you say I'm tired Black Man Get up Lift up your head So much pain In your many souls Use that pain to be a warrior For your family For yourself Lift up your black women We too know the ground The mockery The shame The hatred The unnecessary hatred The misunderstandings We are your backbone You are the head If we're both strong You can not fall without getting up Stronger By: Theresa Sky 11/21/2017 © 2017 T.S.
