"

The pumpkin stands are gone

The remnants of autumn fun are all that are left

Fields are vacant

Littered only with a few decaying pumpkins

The ones unlucky enough to find a home

Corn mazes left to wither

Haunted houses boarded up

A booming sight in weeks past

Nothing more then desolate land

The season is changing

Fall will soon be nothing more then a distant memory

Winter will take its place

Christmas tree signs will resuscitate the land

Children will be laughing

Waiting in line to borrow Santa's ear

Bundled up with hot cocoa warming their hands

Christmas Carols will be heard through the air

The spirit of the season ringing out to all

The holiday will come and go

The land will once again be left alone

Becoming nothing more then a distant memory

Oh after the rush of any holiday is the aftermath when we crash from the high of the joys just as you so wonderfully described here... we spend weeks building up then after one night of fun we sink back down to reality. very descriptive and wonderful done.
