Snowy DayA Poem by CeosI wake with a shiver Arising from my sleep And pleasant dreams that I had In a world of cold
I draw my covers tight Trying to ward off Old Jack Frost And his icy touch
I set my foot down with a smack And jumped back from the cold wood But finally manage to lift myself From my bed
I don't walk far To my little window Wiping off the fog and starting At the sight that met my hungry eyes
I don't wait a minute I pull on my coat and my gloves My boots and hat And run to the door
Foolish was I For the ice was thick I fell to the ground on that clear sheet Unhurt and undaunted
The world was a field of white Like the world had decided To don a woolen coat Over its green vest
Icy swirls flurry around me Coating me in powder I laugh as I hold out my tounge To catch the little flakes, just getting a taste Snow crunching under my feet as I run
My sister soon joins me In her pink little hat Together we roll up spheres of snow Sometimes throw them Others we keep rolling
I lift the heavy balls of ice In a stack as taller than I was And made it stand all Strong, straight and tall
My little sister in her pink hat Came back to me Holding pebbles and sticks Of all sizes and shapes
For our man of snow Big black rocks became his eyes A large pointy stick became his beakish nose Two more went into his sides to become his arms
But the smile was most important I carved it into the frigid snow And placed a multitude of tiny pebbles A goofier or funnier snowman has never been seen
But what fun we had that day! When our mother called us in To the smell of warm chocolate And gooey cinnamon rolls
Warm and dry Drinking in sweet chocolate And tearing in to our crispy Iced, sweet, hot cinnamon rolls We sat and enjoyed a rare snowy day
