WarA Poem by CeosDawn breaks in pale radiance The sea of emerald grass Glistening from the new morning dew A breeze whispers through the forest Laying by a filed Surrounded by earthy hills A fain rumble sounds in both East and West The sound of trumpet and horn Echo like an annoying pest That steals the clarity From the first tranquil moment of the day As the distance closes The faint rumble becomes a roar Of stamping feet in marching boots Men in red and men in blue Marching across the hills and plain The red and blue stop Standing upon opposite hills The sounds cease An eerie pressure sits on the field Palpable to the men standing in rows There is utter silence The silence shatters like a pane of glass As Red and Blue explode in movement Leveling gleaming muskets That blow forth a gray cloud That engulfs the proud colors An earsplitting scream Rips from the throats of men With this lion's roar they charge down the hills Gleaming steel bayonets Reflecting the newborn sun Crimson and Sapphire colors collide Issuing a sickening crunch Bayonets flash Scarlet blood falls like rain To stain the emerald grass A victory is earned Blue watches Red run Tale between their legs. Victory is shouted and celebrated Some scream in victory Others scream in pain Some rejoice in life While others fall in to death Many lie on the serene field As if asleep With eyes closed mouths open wide Lying in a pool of mud Mixed with blood Nothing man has ever created Nothing man will ever create Has had a higher cost What quarrel will cost Many lives lost to settle Is worth the trouble No evil or foul deed can be compared To this great perversion Nature in its ultimate beauty and bliss So willfully desecrated By a creature known as man And his ravenous hunger for war © 2011 Ceos |
