Lullaby

Lullaby

A Story by Ceos

A simple, sweet, smooth melody, that is often something we cherish from our childhood days. A song sung to ease the mind and muscles to an easy slumber after a long day. That is a lullaby.

A small comfort to a frightened child in the dark night. A tune of adoration from parent to child around the world. At night, the song dispells the clouds of worry, doubt, and discomfort, and plays as a pleasant memory during the day. That is a lullaby.

What does a hungry mother give to her starving child? What can she say  when she can do nothing to stop the pain? What gift remains, but that of love? All she has left is a simple song, sung with a ragged voice parched with thirst, but embracing all of her love and sorrow. That is a lullaby.

A snake's promise through brilliant white teeth. An empty basket given to a begger. Waking up on christmas morning, and finding nothing is under the tree. Moaning about the slow lines. Choosing to ignore the pains of others. Played ignorance of the situation. This is the lullaby that we sing. This is no lullaby.
