Shadows

These shadows haunt me day after day
Scratching and clawing at my feet
Trying with all their might to drag me down into their world of despair

I run away from these demons every waking second wondering if i will ever get to rest
And I fear that I have come to an edge of a cliff and the shadows are gaining ground
Faster and Faster they approach and I am completely defenseless against them

So I fall on my hands and knees
Calling for someone to save me from this impending doom
But it's all to no avail and I watch through crying eyes
As the demons of my past encroach my pitiful foot hold

So I in an act of desperation I lunge off the enormous cliff
Eyes closed, Hands shaking and screaming at the top of my lungs

My logic for my plummet was death is better than a life in the shadows despair
But as I brace myself for the bone crushing fall I feel a hand on my trembling shoulder
And I opened my eyes to see that my fall had stopped in mid air

After about 5 minutes of drying my tears and collecting my nerves I looked at the hand
Followed the arm up his torso and looked dead into his eyes
They where overwhelmingly warm and love radiated from his very being

The tears I had tried so hard to wipe away just moments ago welled up into my eyes
And I wrapped my arms around his glorious body, looked into his eyes once more
Then whispered so soft that I couldn't even hear the words leave my lips
"I knew you would come..."
