State of Affairs

I deem the current state of affairs…shocking

The mentality of the people retreats as tech advances 

Social media hysteria with no filters for smokescreens 

Subjects hypnotized by computers and phone screens

Their lives defined by likes and views

Religion still holding sway over the masses

Inspiring wars for the sake of their gods…

Imprisoned within books yet whose influence perseveres

As fossilized artifacts of a bygone age reaching through time

Narcissistic tyrants with a phobia of being forgotten

Politicians still politicking, pretending to care

Gifting word candies and glamorizing fear

While the rich line their pockets, commercialism their anthem

Benefiting from the spoils of the disadvantaged

Laughing with their friends about the fickleness of the people

And the ease with which they herd the sheeple

Global warming a warning as the seas swell

Earth slowly transforming into hell

Agents of the dark deceive or make no sound

To complete the scheme of the devil’s playground
