In Fractious defiance of the law of the speed of light

Where Einstein becomes bested by my futuristic science

I alter space-time within the Event Horizon of this whizzing mind

And in its labyrinthine complexity possibilities permute

Into realities envisioned in my meditative phantasmagoria

 

Impossibilities shed their prefixes and morph into their antithesis

Slumbering light alights from brain’s dark inertial necrosis

Illuminating the serpentine path of selfhood and apotheosis

Where with hand signs and alpha-rhythms I compose my life’s prose

 

I am the captain of my soul a poet once said

And as my own voyages through the façades of this world

Through turbulent waters of depths known and unknown

I acknowledge my fate as mine and mine alone

Hence hither I invoke my utmost potential

In a manner that must be termed magic;

Sheer force of will collapses wave functions

Breaking down walls of doubt

Ripping strongholds against my ambitions asunder

The discoveries of science will never be able to reveal the soul... it takes a Poet to do that. Love your word choices in this piece; reading it aloud feels audacious. I love these lines:

Through turbulent waters of depths known and unknown
I acknowledge my fate as mine and mine alone

Not sure if that rhyme was intentional, but it sounds great, and has a depth of meaning that make these lines stand alone. Excellent piece, Rocans!

I agree, the soul will continue to evade the scrutiny of science. The rhyme was indeed intentional and based on the author I referenced at the beginning of the stanza (Invictus-William Ernest Henley). Thank you Rita for your ever insightful review. You write so well, I have missed it. I had to read this twice because it was so complex at first, but now I understand. I like how you think and structure your pieces. There is always flow and deep meaning and for that I lift my hat to you.
