The Day After Oz

The Day After Oz

A Poem by Theatergirl
"

What happens after you have been to paradise and have to return to real life?

"

At twilight Wendy wept,

out a window of empty stars.

Dorothy searched a cloudless sky,

for an errant breeze.

Alice forever chased rabbits,

through an abandoned forest.

They had been to paradise,

and woke drowsily into their nightmares.

Now having to learn to live again,

in a black and white world.

After existing in the rainbow,

a nexus of their dreams,

they forever searched for a way back.

Counting minutes until paradise's return.

Shell-shocked women,

looking for an end

to their hearts' apocalypse.
