A Bad Day and Some Bad Haikus

A Bad Day and Some Bad Haikus

A Poem by Thea Manayon

Under your sure gaze,

I've never felt so naked.

Your purposeful gaze.

Perhaps you're not real...

A muse sent by playful gods;

An image. A dupe.

Do not come near me.

I fear losing sanity.

Such grace is your touch.

If not in my mind,

Where do you cause such chaos?

If not in my heart...

A love poem, but not of the usual romantic kind. I think substitute control for sanity and you've described a very common experience - the ambiguous feeling of a loss of autonomy to someone more powerful than yourself.

The haiku is a form which encourages contemplation of the self, and is fitting for the theme of the poem. A very interesting piece of writing.
