The darkest of days

The darkest of days

A Chapter by The Water Queen

Tear awoke suddenly to find that the train had stopped. The other passengers she had decided to bunk with were collecting their luggage. She moved caustiosly as not to gather to much or any attention from the young wizards. Yet she didnt feel threatened by them. A loud bang came the direction of the large window that faced the outside world. The red haired boy, what had been his name, had dropped his large suitcase as a large tabby cat ran back to the young girls side. The girl was beautiful in her own way. She was the type of girl that was perceived to be a book worm. She wore nothing to exentuate her beauty. Still she tried to do something with her unruly curls that refused to stay flat.

"I'll kill that damn cat one day," The redc haired boy hissed. "I hate him!"

"Well Ron if you try to and even kill my cat i'll curse you for an entire year," She spat back.

"Come on guys stop bickering," it was the boy with glasses and and odd scar that spoke gently.

Ron snickered as he bent over his luggage to clean up the mess it had made when dropped. Hermione nodded and picked up her cat with a small heave and intake of breath.

"I'll See you two at the dinner," she said as she left the train's cabin area, and she left in such a hurry that no one could say a word about seeing her at dinner.

Ron grunted as acknowlement at Hermione's departure from the group. Tear sighed as she stood up. Her legs were numb from sitting for so long. Her bottom slowly retained feeling. Long trips were better taken on train, at least she hadnt ridden a horse. Surprisingly she felt extremly tired and exhausted from the constant attack of old wounds. She heaved her small, yet heavy, carry on bag from the rack. No one wanted to see if she needed help. To them she was just another young witch coming to Hogwarts for a proper education in magic. She shuddered and exited the train like everyone else, just a slight bit slower. Outside on the platform the air bitter and cold like a snake bite to the skin. She didn't care about the cold. She was properly dressed for the winter.

"First years come to me,"

The man who spoke loudly was beastly in stature. A large man in width and size. To anyone who did not know him, he seemed frightening and rather monsterly. He held a latern in front of him as if darkness had already blanketed the land. First year children moved timidly towards the large man. Some were so scared and intimadated that they ventured to the back of the largely multplying group. Other students, experianced youngsters, already knew where to go by now and needed only crudly done signs to direct them. Tear only satred at the procession that seemed so chaotic to her, so human.

"Miss Tear?" it was the stern yet womanly voice of authority.

"Yes Minerva?" Tear answered.

"Follow me please," she said softly.

Tear turned to follow tha professor she trusted the most out of the whold group of wizards she had met. Minerva reminded her of herself. A strong willed woman who needed no man to fulfill her life. They followed the train towards a group of horse drawn carraiges. Tear smiled at the secrecy of her arrival. Dumbledoore knew her well enough. Had he spoken to Godric about her. She shook her head. That thought was rediculous. Godric , as well as the other founders, were long but dead. She handed her bag off to a man of small build and bold eyes. Bold violet eyes! She looked away and tried to start sobbing. The color of flowers Godric had always gotten her. Damn him for even caring for her, for prestending to love her, just to betray jer. She wanted to scream at him, hit him, maybe even hurt him. But he had been human and human death had taken him.

"Come dear," Minerva spoke gently knowing the cuase of Tear's long pause.

Tear nodded as she steadied herself against the side of the carriage. She wasn't going to show weakness to any wizard not even one she trusted. To them she was like stell, cold and hard, nothing more. She wanted to hate wizards for Godric's betrayel but she only hated him. She didn't want any part of him. She leaned back into the cushions as the carraige lept into motion.

Godric had blindfolded Tear the instant that she had entered the carraige after him. She giggled as his hand lightly brushed her hair in an attempt to smooth it out. She reached for his strong hands in the complet darkness that surrounded her. He held them softly, lovingly. She smiled hoping he could see her, know that she was trusting him, loving him constantly.

"You really don't need to blind me Godric gryffindoor," Tear teased lovingly, " I wouldn't peak, well maybe."

"I know you too well my love to trust that you wont peak," he whispered suductivly in her  ear.

He was sitting next to her teasing her senses. She could feel the press of his body next to hers as he sat close. They were in love preparing to marry each other as soon as Hogwarts was to be finished. Where was she being taken? Her mind raced with these questions as the carriage moved along the countryside. Then as soon as they had left the carraige seemed to stop. Godric left her side and the carraige door opened letting her blind sight brighten with the summer sun. Godric held her hand as he led her somewhere. The place smelled of flowers, fresh flowers. Godric stopped and held her into place. His hand shaking from nervousness.

"Take off the blindfold my love," he said lovingly.

She reached for the tie and pulled at the loose bow Godric had tied. The bow untied with great ease and the blindfold fell limp into her hand uncovering her sight. She gasped at the sight of her surprise.

"Are you okay?" Minerva asked softly.

Anpped out of her memory, Tear looked up and nodded in an effort not to sound upset to her friend. To speak would meen that she would breakdown. So she watched the road they traveled on instead. Minerva went back to watching the massive lake on the oppisite side. Godric had chosen and amazing spot for his school. A place near a gorgeous lake and wonderful valley, away from any mugle town. A place of complete and true solitude.

"You might not want to look out the window anymore," Minerva said gently.

"Why is that?" Tear asked.

She turned her gaze upon Minerva now, somehow challenging her to an argument. Minerva sighed and went back to ignoring Tear and her dark mood. At first Tear felt proud she had won without argueing, but then she felt guilty. They had taken her, vowed to protect her and now she was being absolutly rude to them. Minerva pressed a stray strand of hair back into position with her harsh bun.

"Gaze upon your wedding site of you wish for the memory so soon," Minerva stated staley.

Tear looked away from the carraige window at Minerva's statement and set her gaze on a stray thread. It was frayed and stuck out in the neatness that Minerva loved to keep. She wanted to mention the thread. She went and opened her mouth to do it but quickly shut her mouth. She had been rude enough she would not extend that.

"I'm sorry for my coldness towards you today. It's just this place..."

"Brings upon memories that you somehow wish were gone completely," Minerva interupted.

"Yes," Tear spoke shyly.

"It must be hard for you to be here then," Minerva spoke gently.

Her stone expression she had worn the whole time broke for a split second. Showing she was truely a human and not some creature void of emotion. BUt as quickly as she could her face tensed back into the stern gaze of a proffesor with a student. She hadn't imagined how hard it was going to be for her to return to Hogwartd. Even after so long her heart still bled from Godric's betrayel towards her. She had been surprised to hear that he had kept the name Hogwarts. It was her middle name. The school was to be named after his true love. So Hogwarts had stayed as the school name.

"Does it hurt to know that he kept the school named after you?" Minerva asked.

"Somewhat. I suppose it was the best name that they could ever come up with," she spoke softly. " I don't hate that he kept it."

But she was angry and she did hate what he had done. He had no right to keep her name. She felt tears but pushed them back down. Memories of Godric would only make her stay at Hogwarts worse. She felt for the ruby wrapping her fingers around it so tightly her fingers whitened. The carraige came to a sudden stop and Minerva exited the carriage. She rounded the back of the carraige and opened Tear's door. Tear hesitated at once. her fingers flexing around  the jewel's surface. Her whole world came crashing down. She hated this world. Wizards and witches were her enemies, why had she agreed to come. She pulled on her cloak and sighed.

"I guess i'll just have to live with this," Tear mumbled to herself. "Where to Minerva?"

She landed gently upon the moist ground. Her cloak  falling like rippling water back into place around her body. Minerva smiled and walked towards Hogwarts. Tear stood frozen in fear. The world around her began to spin and Tear fainted, the loud thud alerting the carrauge driver.

"Lady Minerva?" He addressed loudly.

Minerva ran back to where Tear layed. She sighed and began her walk back to Hogwarts.

"Wake her and bring her to the sorting, Dric," She said as she moved past the large open oak door.
