Comatose Stone

Comatose Stone

A Poem by The River Man

Waiting thoughtless

With an apathetic grin

For your sin

Maybe I’ll care again

Why would you notice?

There’s nothing crazy here

But over there

You get your fill of something good

And I’ll say that

I understand what you’ve been through

But really nothing

I’ve got no clue

Far beyond your eyes

And out of reach of mine

A perched disguise

Of confused love and lies

So you run away

When you see me smile

And when I cry you pray

For a way to make it worthwhile

Or to make it go away

A fear of affection

And an anxious connection

So you break it off clean

Frozen, dazed, dead, serene
