The End(s)

The End(s)

A Poem by The River Man

The truth reappears despite your futile fears
The one that has been gone for years
No longer immune
And now with two moons
One of ice and one of stone
One turns away while the other breaks your bones
You wear a smile with a backdrop of deceit
Rigging an election and cleaning up the streets
Eastward eyes regressing the expansion
Brick by brick they tear down your mansion
Depleting rations demanded satisfaction
Rendering time a mere abstraction
Sequential ignorance quenching and lynching
The innocent who weren't very convincing
That volcano tore down your back door
Showed you the floor
With neat parallel lines
Immune to time
And subliminal chimes
So retreat your anti-hero
And flood the field with zeros
And maybe a one
Just for fun
Now, left with no room to roam
And no direction home
With the stars alone
Which ones bend and which ones ignite tonight?
Your only friends
Through a fish-eyed lens
The end(s)
