CRYING IN THE DARK

CRYING IN THE DARK

A Poem by Edicius

Sometimes I find myself crying in the dark

I am missing the light that you brought to my life

And how I feel so very alone

Without any salvation from my internal strife

I thought I would be safe, lying here in the dark

Yet I see our memories vividly in my mind

As much as I want those thoughts to stop

I need them to keep until the end of time

Though no one can see these tears in my eyes

I still feel them as they fall from my face

The way I feel then, only you can stop them

For it is your touch that no one can replace

The darkness I see is the same that I feel

For I know you are gone from my life forever

But there is not a day that goes by now

That I pray that we will once again be together

Though it’s hard to conceive now, my pain will subside

And somehow, with love, I’ll win the fight

For my tears must dry, they cannot stay

For I know that one day, I’ll reach for the light.

A truly terrific piece, with so much feeling. Very well written!

The lack of punctuation for the majority of the poem; gives it a frantic stream of consciousness feel. The sparse use of commas reflects the speaker coming to terms. Brilliant piece
