Inner WarriorA Poem by Falling Leaf. She means everything to me. Her claws are sharp but her eyes are wise, This tigress within me. She chases the sunlight through a web of vines, Always close, Never quite reaching. There’s something feral in the way she moves, Delicacy laced with isolation. Her fur is fluid, slipping like water Over her shoulders. She slinks close to the ground, Prowling through a fortress of kapok trees, Hoping to elude the eyes. Don’t watch her, She thrives in silence, She is the empress of solitude. She nips my heart--dear
God, how it bleeds. Racing through my bones, her essence defines me. I catch her sometimes, romping in the jungle That is my mind. Those golden eyes are brimming with secrets That were written in an alien tongue. I named her Qi, And our hearts beat in time. She is the fire that drives, Her flames stinging my skin. She charges fearlessly into the thorns, She battles the lion without hesitance. She is an element of my spirit. I’ll follow her into any sure-death war. © 2015 Falling Leaf.Author's Note
