I have found you, broken-winged bird,
in a land where the ink never dries,
where eyes never open,
or perhaps simply where the sky is always black.

Where nighttime is an adventure and
daylight is a bore,
where we are all simply smoke dancing in mirrors,
or fragments of sunlight visible only for a fleeting moment.

Where souls are like twisting wrought-iron statues,
beautiful, but too melancholy for most,
standing motionless and silent,
but oddly proud and perhaps a bit eager
in the light of the waning sun.

Where we speak with lingering looks
and smoldering eyes
like the embers at the bottom of an ancient fire.

If you can read the language of the hopelessly lost,
then I am delighted to invite you in
for a midnight cup of tea.

But, if you feel that you have no business
amongst the wonderstruck,
then I do wish you the best as you make your way home
alone in the blackest, coldest, deepest of nights.

I really like this one. The implication that life without poetry, without art, without beauty, is indeed a life lived alone in the blackest, coldest, deepest of nights. The second line resonated very strongly with me, too. Even though you hardly ever see actual ink used any more, 'A land where the ink never dries', sounds like a beautiful place to be. Thanks for this, it's been on my screen for hours now, and I keep coming back to it when I have a moment.

Thank you very much. :)
verses 1, 5 and 6 are all i needed on this one .. in fact your first verse so enveloped me .. i could have stopped right there .. just beautiful .. and the last verse is a killer .. no need for the middle on this one for me ..

Thank you!
language seems to find its way to our pens late at night...the creative ink flows...and we feel more alive than ever....even on the sunniest day we can not find the same comfort.

That part really spoke to me, since I love tea, and I've been known to speak the language of the hopelessly lost. Great job! Keep it up!!

Not a problem! You have to show some love in order to receive love, in return. :)
It does feel like being among the wonder struck.
Great poem.
