![]() EmmaA Poem by Falling Leaf. The scars on your wrists ripple as your frail body quakes. Faint pink lines crisscrossing in an endless alabaster sea. Head down, chestnut curtains hanging over locked blue doors, you've taken life one tiny footstep at a time. Mountains forever loomed behind you, silently screaming in your ears. Their wails were too high pitched for anyone else to hear. Your cries pierced the fog in my mind. Your pain is an ugly kind of real. I knocked on the doors, I peered in the windows, I called your name. The curtains remain drawn tight, and everything inside is dark. You lost yourself in the light of a liquor store sign, at the time of night when no sensible person is awake. They declared the cause of death OD, and I gripped your icy fingers before ground swallowed you whole. The kids at school said you were just another depressed girl, but they don't know. They will never know. Your legacy will live on within me. Sleep well, darling.
