Save Us

Save Us

A Poem by Falling Leaf.

Searching for a ray of hope in a demise-colored sky,
stretching fingers up into the choked air.
Praying for just one wisp to breathe.

But finding that our grave has been dug,
and remembering the muddy shovel in our own trunks.

Wondering if just talking will save us.

Yet despising the idea of acting,
letting the world spin deeper into hell.

Ignoring the dying things beneath our feet,
thinking that someone else has the answers.

Yet no one has anything to say.

Waiting, just waiting, waiting for change,
as if it will happen on its own.

This is the way of most people.
"Ignoring the dying things beneath our feet,
thinking that someone else has the answers."
Few will raise voice and demand the right ways. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry. Left reader food for thoughts in your words.

I love the wittiness of that second stanza:

"But finding that our grave has been dug,
and remembering the muddy shovel in our own trunks."

And completely I agree; we are digging our own graves. This entire poem features ways of humanity that perhaps need to change, especially the fact that no one will initiate change. Your writing is clear and concise.

Thank you very much. :)
Ignorance may be bliss, but also makes you ignorant. To turn a blind eye to those who need, expecting someone else to pick up the slack, might be the way it is but is definitely the way it shouldn't be. Very cool. Another one I enjoyed a lot.

an other lovely piece. this too carries a beautiful message and also raises an important question at the end"waiting, waiting for change...as if it will happen on its own" this is the case with today's world !

Thank you, for the lovely review. :)
I feel like this particular poem strikes a personal cord, and its brutal honesty undressed, which you pour out in buckets upon the recipient, "now I am wet" with a cold sensation running down my spine somehow open to this immediate truth articulated by you, great work indeed. Expect a true follower to what lurks from your keyboard.

It is indeed a cold and immediate truth. Thank you, for the contemplative and incredible review.
I usually love seeing other people's likes so you can thank Coyote for this review for its due to his review that I came! I loved this piece but wouldn't replacing us with her collated well with the title? Would love to know why you wrote it as you did! "Wondering if just talking will save Us"
