The Prettiest Girl

The Prettiest Girl

A Poem by Just Some Dreamer

When the sands of time seem to stop
And there you are, perfectly still
All I can feel is my heart drop
The worried whispers send me a cold chill
Is what I see possibly true?
Something so pure and beautiful, slayed
How can this be? I was just with you
I scream in utter rage, the world has betrayed
And just like the my word is crashing down
I'm stumbling through the thick crowd
Let me be with her, away from this suffocating town
How has this even been allowed?
I want to run, far far away yonder
I need to escape the concerned stares and muffled cries
Take myself away from this, so I can sit and ponder
Leave everything behind, break your ties
Run far, let it be known throught out the sea, land, and world
We have lost the prettiest girl
With no point to live, I'm open for suggestions
She was so pure and full of laughter
I've scream for God, full of confessions
Why have have you taken her to the after
She has the sparkle in her eyes
I think as I throw myself across her chest
Her goodness never will be reconigzed
Since you have put her to rest
I'm drowing in my own insanity
She is my life
I need her to help me kill my vanity
No you've done it, ended it, with a sharp knife
When you do reach the gate
Know you are loved, one of kind
Let everything go, accept fate
Do not let this unforgiving world bind
Let it be known throughout the sea, land, and world
You have slayed the prettiest girl

A work where the theme is somewhat concealed behind cloaking words that suggest insitead of state. It is an appealing approach even though it left me with doubts and questions. I liked the progression and the probing of vanity and all was done with an obvious skill. Al nice job.

I like it. I like the terms "slayed", morbid as they may be.
