I've never written a political piece before; I hope you guys like it!

This poem was taken from a song I wrote, but tweaked a little to be read as poetry. It's about how often rape, sexual abuse, molestation, sexual assault, sexual harassment, etc, goes ignored.

Let me know what you all think, and I hope this evokes something within you - whether it be comfort or a will to fight back!!

I think your poem is well-written, but it doesn't convey the depth of how it feels (I was raped repeatedly as a child by my bio-father). There's a bit of distance between your words & the gut-level sensations of living with this type of psyche damage. I also find it hard to dig down to the very depths of how devastating this feels, even for me still, 50 years later. Your writing is excellent & your point of view is strong, but this poem is a little too sanitary for me (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I have also been sexually assaulted, and I agree that this poem doesn't get down to those feelings. I wouldn't even know where to start with conveying something quite that heavy. I was mostly trying to represent the stupidity of letting rapists lose into the world. I was hoping that portraying it from this perspective would make people feel protective of their children/siblings/friends etc but it's also possible that I wasn't clear enough in meaning due to the fact that I really don't want to crack open those memories and feelings and share them with the world quite yet.
