Firebugs

Firebugs

A Poem by TheUnrulyWriter

But that voice

Oh she whispered

“I dare you”

And chuckled

So I laughed

And played along

It was just a whim

Who turned to dreams

Then I let her take my hand

Which was onto my body

Which my mind laid inside

So I let her make my mind

And the words she spoke

I thought. They said:

“Hold agape your hands,

Hold avast your heart”

So in my hands

Sprawled blinking firebugs

And my heart stilled

For my desires were christened

Those funny little bugs

Decorate my skin

Grow stars in my hair

Where my mind leaks

Why, she must have loved that

Because my brain sung hymns

And my body twitched

And there was dopamine

Now she lives in trees

And ocean tears

And laughing wind

And the sun shines love

And I’m just a small part

Of her vast scheme

For she is nature

And I’m only natural
