N/AA Story by TUSJust something I started and then lost the flow.
Claws. Scratching on ancient stone as we travelled deeper into the bowels of the Earth. Little could we have known the dangers that would stalk us through the shadows. After some time there were other noises, echoing from a distance unknowable to us. Then just as we lost hope a deafening roar sent us to the edges of madness. Some fled the safety of the now, bitterly small touch and moments later we heard their bones being snapped and limbs torn away by things better left unseen. The few of us that remained gritted thier teeth and stepped onward into the endless and almost tangible darkness. To Be Continued?
Monsterous. The tunnels finally opened into a grand cavern, high above the floor; moon and stars shining through a huge crack in the ceiling. Though we see all of this. None of it is really there, all we really see is a mass of shadow. Living: Breathing darkness. The air we had thought to be clean from above turned moggy and carried a prevailing stench. Death. Two of our remaining men turned. And ran but once more we heard their hysterical howls cut, unceramoniously, short. To Be Continued? Terrible. The mass of darkness engulfed two more men as they charged with delusional rage. Now but four of us remained. By tenacity or skill, we would see this thing banished. The moon settled behind ominous clouds which engulfed the stars. Two gigantic eyes opened, staring toward us with curiously red orbs. Perhaps that of supposed Harliquins, the would-be freaks some call Vampires. But be it man or beast nothing would stop us. Wretched talons slashed and tore but our strikes where faster and stronger. Blows from our hammers squashed boneless limbs. Our arrows tore through it's defenceless eyes and our swords slew the vile creature. To Be Continued. © 2014 TUSAuthor's Note
