"No! You can't make me! I refuse!"
"Yeah, well you don't really have a choice!"
"You're not making me do it!"
"Yes I am!" my mom yelled. I was in the middle of a fight with my mom, who had just informed me of her plan to switch my school. Of course my natural reaction was to rebel. All of my friends were at my school, and if I switched schools I'd never make new friends, and eating lunch in the library, by myself my entire senior year was not something I wanted to do.
I change schools about ever year or so, usually ending up back here and quite frankly I was tired of it.
"If you make me switch schools I swear to god that I will never forgive you. And you can forget about me ever talking to you again!"
"I guess that's just a chance I'm willing to take!"
"I hate you!" I screamed and ran out the doors and down the stairs. I actually said 'I hate you' to my mom. I couldn't believe I did that, but can you really blame me? I was mad what can I say, sometimes my temper gets the better of me. She just made me so mad sometimes. It was her fault that I had to change schools anyway. If she hadn't remarried my dad I could still be living where we used to live and I could stay in my school. But instead, she went and remarried, not thinking about anyone but herself. Even that could have worked out if my stupid, dumb father wasn't wasting all his money on his stupid ex-girlfriend. He had us take care of and look after, yet still even though we can barely pay the bills he goes and pays her all her bills gives her money, and buys her clothes. Sometimes I just really wanted to go up to him and say "give it a rest. She's not coming back, she’s 20 yrs. younger than you and you're married." But I guess he hasn't figured that out yet. Instead he thinks its a good idea to waste his money then complain about how broke he is.
It was because of this that we didn’t have the money to pay the bills and had to move out of our house and into a one bedroom apartment. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? So not only do I have to sleep on the couch and live in an itsy bitsy little apartment; I have to move schools too. What I don't get is why I have to be punished for my parents idiocy. I guess that's just the wonders of life.
I kept walking aimlessly not quite sure where I was going yet. I was now out of the apartment complex and making my way down the sidewalk hoping to avoid any kind of human contact at all. I should have figured I wouldn't have been successful.
"Hey baby, Where you headed?" called a voice. I looked up from the ground and realized that a car full of guys had slowed down and was driving next to me. Away from you. I didn't say anything and started walking faster hoping they would take a hint and leave me alone. "What's wrong with you? Cant talk?" They called.
"Bet I can get you to make some noise!" one of them called. The others laughed and I was starting to get scared.
"Evie!" a familiar voice called. A car had pulled up behind the car beside me and I recognized the driver as Jayden.
"Jayden!"
"Come on Evie, get in the car!" I ran over to his car relieved and quickly got in.
"Thank you," I breathed.
"Are you okay?" he asked concerned.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine." I needed to calm done I was way overreacting.
"What were you doing way over here?" he asked.
"Well, I'm not really sure. I got pissed at my parents and I kind of just took off," I answered.
"Now now Evie, you shouldn't used such language," he smiled trying to take my mind off what just previously happened.
"Shut up!" I laughed. Being Mormon, I had pretty high standards of things like cursing and the way I dressed and acted, although if I was being honest, I cursed way more than I knew I should. It was these standards that gave me the reputation of being a goody-two-shoes. Not that I minded too much, my standards kept me out of trouble. “I didn't even say anything bad."
He smirked, "I know I just like to annoy you." I slapped him in the arm playfully. "So, are you hungry? I assume you don't really want to go home right now."
"Yeah, some food would be good, thanks."
"No problem doll face. No problem."

"So why were you mad at your mom anyway?" Jayden asked, picking up a fry and shoving it in his mouth. Darn his ability to eat whatever he wants and stay thin.
"She's trying to make me move schools again," I mumbled.
"What? No! She can't do that!" he exclaimed dropping his hamburger.
"Well, apparently she can, because that's exactly what she's doing.
"I'll steal you away, and you can come live with me," he said in complete seriousness.
"Yeah, I don't think that'd work too well."
"Have I ever told you how much I hate your mom?"
"Well, not really, but feel free to express that."
"I hate her a whole lot. How dare she try to take away my Evie-kins."
"Jayden I fully appreciate your hatred toward my mother, but if you ever call me that again I will be forced to castrate you."
"B-but Evie, how then could we fulfill our dream of having a zillion kids together and let them run around little farm house chasing the chickens while you make me pancakes in bed?" he asked. He looked serious but I could clearly see the humor in his eyes. He was trying his hardest to take my mind off being upset and I decided I would let him.
"Well I guess we'll just have to adopt," I smirked.
"Damn," he mumbled.
"What?" I asked confused.
"You um... you know what never mind. Are you done eating?" he asked flustered.
"Um yeah. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine I just have to, uh, be somewhere. You probably don't want to go home yet. Did you want me to drop you off at Sierra's or something?"
"That would be good. Are you sure you're okay?" He looked at me for a moment like he was debating on whether or not to tell me the truth. Slowly he shook his.
"No, I'm not sure at all, but I don't really want to talk about it right now so, come on I'll take you to Sierra's." Reluctantly I got up and followed him out of Wendy's to his car. He opened my door for me without a word and got in immediately turning on the radio. Well, I guess there wasn't going to be any conversation for a while. Jayden searched the channels until he finally just put in an Avenged Sevenfold CD and pulled out the parking lot. Glancing at his face through my hair, he seemed to be thought. I wanted so much to just reach out and touch his face. "What?" Jayden asked turning to look at me. I guess I hadn't realized I'd been full on staring at him. Well, this is embarrassing. "Nothing," I mumbled looking away. He looked skeptical but nodded turning the music up a little louder. This little infatuation I have with him really ,really needs to stop.
"Evie!" Sierra squealed playfully when she saw me at the door.
"Sierra!” I squealed back painting a smile on my face. She pulled me in the house laughing for some unknown reason. Hmm... someone's a little extra happy today. Wonder what's up. "So who brought you?" she sang.
"Jayden, Sierra are you ok? You seem a little... really happy." See I thought open sesame were the magic words to open things but apparently, 'are u okay' is. As soon as I said that she started talking about a zillion miles a minute and my head was spinning from the words flooding my ears.
"My date with Aiden was awesome and he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes and he's so great and I like him so much and he's so hot and I'm so lucky, Evie can you believe this is happening to me I think I'm gonna die." It took me a moment to translate, because everything came out of her mouth at once in a big mush of words.
"Whoa, Sierra take a deep breath and start over, slow it down this time please."
"Aiden and I had a really great date," she started, "and then he asked me out and I'm so happy," she finished. The last part sounded like on humongous word, that I had no hope of understanding.
"What?"
"He asked me to be his girlfriend!" she screamed.
"Oh. Oh! Yay!" I screamed and started jumping up and down with her. Of course I had to stop though cause to tell the truth I was getting quite nauseous. Remind me not to do that anymore. "I'm so happy for you!" I exclaimed giving her a tight hug.
"I know me too!" she looked like she was about to die of happiness at that moment. There was no way I was going to break the new of my moving to her right then.
"So, you looked a little upset before. What's up?" she asked calming down. This child does this to me on purpose I'm sure of it
"Oh um... nothing. You know how I get sometimes," I answered trying to laugh off everything.
"Liar." Doesn't look like she believes me.
"No really I'm fine. I...promise." She looked at me doubtfully then slowly nodded.
"So....you wanna go to the mall?" she asked.
"Yes!"
"Kay, lemme call Diana so she can come with us." Ten minutes later and an argument with her mother in order to borrow the car, and we were off to pick up Diana.
We pulled into Diana's drive way, and Sierra stuck her head out the window and sang/yelled, "Oh Dianapoo!" Diana ran to the car and glared at me playfully when she saw that I was already in the front seat. I rolled down my window a little and pulled my imaginary glasses down my nose.
"Did you want something?" I asked playfully. She smacked me in the head and got in the back seat.
I turned toward her. "You dirty w***e!"
"Your mom!" she replied.
"Your uncle!"
"Yeah, well you're a weenie!"
"You-you fork!"
"Gasp, how dare you?" To this day they still hold that against me. One little typo on a Myspace blog and I'm marked for life.
"Easy! Like this! Fork!"
"Now children, play nicely, I'm trying to drive!" Sierra laughed.
"Yes mommy," Diana mumbled.
"No!" I exclaimed, "Sierra can't be your mom. I'm her mom and you're her dad so that can't possibly work." Our lives consist of multiple inside jokes, this being one of them.I'm still not sure how it happened, but one way or another Sierra ended up being Mine and Diana's daughter. As if that was mental enough, I was the mom, but Diana gave birth to her. I don't know that's supposed to work, but hey, it works for us.
"Yeah, ok.. I'm older than you and you're my mom, that makes So much sense, " Sierra said rolling her eyes.
I sighed heavily, "Sierra we've been over this. I'm a vampire/werewolf/fish/vegetarian so my growth was stunted until you were born and older than me." There was a story behind that too, but at this point in time I don't own up to it.
"Yeah, Sierra gosh," Diana put in.
"Ya'll are mental," Sierra laughed. We would have made a come back of some sort but at that moment we arrived and Sierra told us to get the hell out of the car, before she shanked us in the balls. I decided that it was probably best that I didn’t remind her of the fact that us females didn't, in fact, have balls.

"So what do you wanna do now?" Sierra asked, plopping down next to me on the bench.
"Have we been to F.Y.E, GameStop, and Spencer's?" Diana asked.
"Check,” I answered.
"Have we laid on the floor?"
"Check."
"Um...have we pissed off the security guards?"
"Check."
"Stalked hot guys?"
"Check."
"Hugged random strangers?"
"Check."
"Played button soccer, followed by dinosaur."
"Check."
"Then I'm all out of ideas," she sighed, sitting down next to Sierra.
"Hey, isn't that the new guy?-um what's his name-Cain?" she asked pointing to someone. My eyes followed her finger to see that it was in fact Cain, and some other guy, making their way to F.Y.E. The guy with him had dirty blond shaggy hair that cam to his chin, he was about the same height, his build was slighter but he looked just as dangerous. Apparently Sierra saw me watching them.
"Hey Diana, I have an idea," Sierra sang, a devilish smile on her face.
"And what's that Sierra?" Diana replied, the same smile present on her face...this was not going to be very good.
"What do you say we take a peak at old Cain?"
"Why I think that's a fabulous idea."
"No!" I interrupted, "It's not a fabulous idea! It's a horrible idea!" Sierra laughed and hooked arms with me, pulling me up off the bench; Diana got the other said and they both drug me to the entrance that Cain and his friend had disappeared through. The bell chimed as we stepped inside. Cain and the other guy were in the metal section of the CD's, and Sierra thought it would wonderful to go right to the section directly in front of them. They were facing us but they're eyes didn't leave the CD's before them.
"Hey Evie," Sierra said loudly, holding up so random CD, “do you have this Album yet?" Cain's gaze flashed up from the disk in his hand to my face. A look of recognition flickered in his hazel eyes. I flashed a weak, shy smile and dropped my face, letting my hair fall over it, covering up most of my blush.
"Um yea, I do,” I mumbled. After a minute I shook Sierra's arm. "I don't see anything I want, let's go," I mumbled again. Sierra's eyes flickered to Cain then back to me and raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure?" she asked, smirking.
"Positive." I grabbed both Sierra and Diana's arms and dragged them out of the store. Once outside I said, "Sierra."
"Yeah?" she answered.
"I hate you."
