Simple Summer

Simple Summer

A Poem by The Things She Noted

Running across the street

Busied with cars

Driven by the boys who honk your way

Impatient in moving

Impatient in growing up

Laughing as you run with your friends

Hand in hand

Fingers laced

Yanking

Pulling

Laughter

Hot spring day

Going to the park to play

Tummies showing

Hair braided

Some flowing

Youth

Exuberant in youth

And adrenaline

The little things that made you feel

On top of the world

In your own little town

Because just being a kid

Crossing the street

Was enough fun

To last for the summer
