A Father's DeathA Poem by W. HuntI was sad today.Silence was heard throughout the land, Where a house once stood But left in the night. A man I knew Passed away that same night Holding his daughter’s hand. And in her heart, There was a smile And sad happy tears Of peace and death Where a house could’ve stood On a hill in paradise In land that time forgot. Goodbye my sweet, My Angeline, Her father said. And she, morose and alone, In a cruel cold world Whispered, Bye Daddy. And that was that, As wind swept up the dunes Of the past, and history, Our history, Died a staggered death. © 2017 W. Hunt |
