A Poem by Vanessa van Gersie
"

a metaphorical play of words comparing true emotions with the element of fire.

"

naïve as I am, I believed the words you said

broke my walls, lived off the lies you fed

not because of lack but of want

how long will you stay. how long?

even when you are gone

your ghost remains

an unearthing figure

pestering coercing sabotaging

feeding on the mold of this heart

ripping apart my cranium

restructuring my axial frame

was I not cautioned of course I was

yet with a rise upon your cheeks

you tossed my hand into fire

caressing my deadly desires

as naïve as I am, I refused to let you go

watching curiously as you led me on

your words revered me ever so earnestly

relinquishing my all into your lava

a hangman for my neck!

I wished it'd be

but I chose your destructive play

naïve as I am I pulled you to burn with me
