Dear Edward

Dear Edward

A Poem by Vanessa van Gersie

dear Edward,
we bow our heads to pray for you
My soul  feels immense pain.
as the stars mourn your fall
and the clouds gather at your demise,
my heart is breaking
we are silently praying
that God will take you home.
 Time passes by
endless tears fall from my eyes
through the fog i watch as they lay you into the ground
my feet can barely move and my eyes can not believe what they see
my heart quivers with grief
while they pull me away
I wonder where you are?
I pray to God you are safe
and watch from afar as they seal your grave
yours faithfully,
Vanessa.

This is undoubtedly one of the most impacting poems I’ve read in ages. The emotions expressed in the piece are those which my heart couldn’t ignore. I cannot say I feel the grief to the extent at which you endured it, but I can say that I felt part of it. The poem is universally relatable, unfeigned and spiritual. It deserves acclaim.

Memorable read.
