Stature

Stature

A Poem by Molly

You may not see it at first glance,

but I’m over one hundred feet tall.

Yep.  I don’t exactly look it, do I?

You probably think that I’m only a little bit over five feet!

And you couldn’t be more wrong.

I am now and will always be towering over you,

watching the world from my sky-high view

and pondering pondering pondering

the intricacies of my existence.

There are benefits to being over

one hundred feet tall; such a vantage point

allows me to see my life and the lives of others,

streams of light flowing in and out of each other,

dividing, breaking, refracting, luminescing, dimming,

combining to form new shades, new hues,

new levels of brightness.

The beauty and life of everyone,

leaving trails of separation and combination,

sorrow and love and desertion and pain,

joy and laughter and gratitude woven

into an ever-growing net of existence

brimming with energy and color.

And I pity you, because you don’t see it.

You’ll never see it.

You’ve become entangled in poison,

concerned yourself with the misfortune of others,

caused drama and strife amongst your comrades

and shortened your soul by inches until

you are but a lowly vapor wafting listlessly

above a ground sodden with tears and anger.

Unravel yourself from the shins of others,

desert the desire for conflict and pain,

and embrace the heights you once were privy to.

My chin and my eyes have a commonality. They always seem to be pointed up into the sky and thats what this makes me feel like. As if i'm beyond anything small. There is so much more to pay attention to.. this is a great write, thanks for sharing.
