The Lullaby of the Damned

The Lullaby of the Damned

A Poem by Silent Raven

Soft words

Whispered lies

Hushed hellos

Silent goodbyes

Steaming hatred

Glowing love

The black raven

The beautiful dove

Rueful revenge

Dark thoughts

Secrets left

In silence to rot

Hush, hush, don’t you cry

Listen to my lullaby:

The people here are cold and cruel

And this is what they’ll do to you

They’ll break you up

Shake you down

Make you cry

And let you drown

They’ll stab your back

Be your friends

Push you until you reach

Your end

But stay strong

Dance in the flames

And soon you’ll be playing

Their corrupted games

Understand their

Thieving ways

They steal your heart

You make them pay

Limit the ways

They can hurt you

If you don’t get close

They can’t desert you

If you get lost

And can’t find your way

Remember the words

You heard me say

Sing my dark lullaby

Sing of life’s jams

Sing of the chaos

The Lullaby of the Damned.

This is a great piece. It's incredibly dark and I love your juxtaposition at the beginning.

Also, the title is searing: Lullaby of the Damned. Great way to end the poem.
