Standing upA Chapter by Dawn*Jared's Point of View* I heard Laura fainted today. She was going into Ms. Patteron's class when she just fell. I had a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. Something was up. I mean Laura was never sick like this. Sure, she had the occasional cold and stuff but she never fainted. I quickly drove to the hospital to see her. The front lady told me that she was talking to the doctor. I waited in the waiting room. What if it was because I hit her? What if the doctor found out? What if she wanted to break up with me? These entire questions ran through my head and I didn't have any answers. I saw Laura coming out. I raced towards her. "Are you okay?" I asked hugging her. "Jared?" she asked confused. "Laura are you okay? I heard you fainted and I came as soon as I could. What did the doctor say?" I asked franticly. "Jared, calm down. It is okay. It was just because of stress or something." she said lowering her eyes. I was confused; by the look on her face it looked as if it was something more. "Did he see the cuts and bruises?" I asked shyly. "Yes. I told him that I was at a party and I got drunk because someone spiked the drink and I didn't remember anything. I told him that when I woke up I had bruises and cuts but I didn't know how I got them. He told me to tell him when the party was and where and I told him that it was in Canada because you know how I went to Canada a two weeks ago?" she said. I nodded. "So are you okay now?" I asked. "I'm fine," she smiled at me. I relaxed, everything would be fine. "Good, so let's go to Frank's to get some burgers." I said grinning. "Alright," she said. I was confused; usually she was really happy when I invited her to Frank's. "Are you sure you're okay?" I asked again. "Yes!" she snapped at me. I was taken aback. Laura hardly ever lost her temper with me. She only did once when I tried to do some stupid drug. "Then why are you snapping at me?” I asked getting angry. She sighed. “I’m not snapping. I’m just tired okay? Can you just take me home so I can rest for a bit?” she said. “Sure, whatever.” I said getting pissed at her. I drove her home quickly and she got out without a word. I went back home and got some beer and started drinking. What was going on? Laura seemed so weird; probably some random girl stuff. I mean, she couldn’t have a problem with me could she? No way! She loved me, right? S**t, I was getting angrier by the minute. Why was she ignoring at me and yelling at me? What did I do wrong? Was it the Anna thing or something? I knew I would go crazy thinking about it so I called her. “Hello?” Laura said her voice sounding as if she was crying. “Laura? Are you okay? Why are you crying?” I said forgetting my questions. “Jared, for the last time I’m okay!” she screeched at me. “What the f**k! Why are you so mad at me?” I asked getting angry. “I’m not! Just leave me alone for today!” she said her voice almost begging. “Get the hell over here now!” I screamed shutting my phone. Five minutes later she was at my house. “What?” she said coming upstairs to my room. “What the hell is going on? Are you hiding something from me?” I growled at her. “Nothing Jared. It is nothing.” She said looking away. I reached over and yanked her face back so she was looking at me. “What the hell do you keep lying?” I said slapping her arm really hard. “Ow!” she said rubbing her arm. I punched her arm again and then I was aiming a punch towards her stomach when she suddenly screamed ‘no!’ and turned around. My fist hit her back and she fell forward, her arms around her stomach. “Don’t you dare do that again.” Laura shouted at me. “What the hell? Who are you to order me around?” I yelled at her. “You were about to hit my baby!” she screamed at me her face wet with tears. Her baby? What?
