The Constellation

The Constellation

A Story by MacKenzie
"

This is the story about the constellation of Ursa Major, what I saw and the myth I created for it.

"
I was running in the forest alongside Artemis and her hounds; I was Artemis's top sidekick you might say, her number one leopard. I was a little ways ahead of my mistress when I spotted a herd of wild boars barreling straight towards us, I let out a yowl to let her know that there was prey. Immediately a silver shaft of death streaked over my head and entered the lead boars heart, I lept upon the second and tore at its flesh, as I was heading for the third's neck something dropped on my back and I was crushed to the ground.
"Horan!" Artemis screamed my name, shooting and killing as she ran towards me.

I looked up and saw a huge beast crushing my back with one paw; I tried to twist my way out from under, but the weight was to great, as the pressure increased I heard my spinal cord snap and felt a wave of pain rush over me.  I cried out, but the beast picked me up, it had its hands around my neck.

It twisted.

 There was a snap.

And I fell.

I was rising. Wait! I was rising into the stars! I looked down and saw my mistress waving and crying and the great god, Apollo, was carrying me into the sky.
"This is where you are now," he told me, "this is where you will stay."
