Innocence Injected

Innocence Injected

A Poem by Craig Rozniecki

Innocence Injected

As the needle is injected,
Life flashes before my eyes,
From the first day of school,
To the last day of my life,

Images of my wedding abound,
Sharing our vows,
Uttering the words “I do,”
Until death do us part,

The birth of our child,
An experience like no other,
Eternally grateful to raise him with you,
Eternally privileged to be his father,

Joyous thoughts enter my mind,
As poison enters my veins,
Fighting to stay alive,
Not wanting it to end,

I suddenly feel weakened,
As I await my final breath,
No longer able to prove my innocence,
May God have mercy on them.
