The Vanishing Act

The Vanishing Act

A Poem by Craig Rozniecki

The Vanishing Act

A gift bestowed upon you,
A giddy smile comes across your face,
Warming me up inside,
Instilling happiness in us both,

A poem I write for you,
To express my deepest emotions,
Your mouth agape,
Becoming utterly speechless,

Seeming to be so grateful and content,
A multitude of thank yous come my way,
Having never been treated as such,
Not knowing what to say,

Your words and actions bring me great joy,
Through them I'm confident we can be more,
Compliments rarely cease to come forth,
As, for me, you seemingly open the door,

The euphoria eventually subsides,
You then have time to ponder,
Time to reflect,
As I wait and wonder,

I then turn around full of optimism,
But you are nowhere to be seen,
Taking my gifts and love for granted,
Vanishing in the distance and breaking my heart.

About
I'll be honest (like this is something new for me...), I'm not sure what to write here. It's not a singles ads, so even though I like long walks on the beach, I don't see much point in mentioning that.. more..
