Broken SmileA Poem by Gerri TuckerRandom poem jotted downIt’s as if a hinge is rusted and my jaw is stuck in a place between a smile and a frown leaving a grimace to rest there where muscles ache and lips feel snarled to the point of nervous licking in attempts to hydrate the tissue the faces give me reason to doubt uncertainty further weighs the upper portion the corners drop and I feel a small tremor Where joy was once painted now I can no longer tell if my face is friendly or if I growl instead my brows feel heavy, drawing towards the center of my face and I wonder if they wonder if I’m Broken. © 2011 Gerri Tucker |
