VampiriansA Story by The ProtagonistsVampires, hunters and the ultimate foeVampirians Chapter 1: New blood. Kiley: Aaron, Leslie; I’m picking up high count of SOLs in the graveyard to the north of town. I need you two to head up there. Leslie: Oh come on Ki. We were just heading back. Our route was pretty boring. Aaron: Yeah, besides; that grave yard scares me. Something’s not right about it… Kiley: I know you guys. Just take a look. I’m sure it’s nothing, but still we can’t be too safe. Kiley’s voice faded. The two looked at each other and sighed. They mustered their strength, and jumped up onto a nearby roof top, the ground below them cracking and sending pieces of asphalt flying in all directions. The two ran and jumped from rooftop to rooftop. When the buildings stopped, they jumped to the street below. Using the shadows cast by the street lights, they crept towards the graveyard gates. Although they had yet to arrive, they could see lights, dozens of them in the distance. The SOLs were looking for something; there was no doubt about that. Aaron: Trace was right. Let’s use the shadows to find out what’s going on. Again, the two faded into the shadows. As part of their Pure Vampirian DNA, they had the ability to blend in with shadows. They split up, and searched different sides of the graveyard. On Aaron’s side, the SOLs were attempting to break into a crypt. He left it alone. On Leslie’s side however; SOL 1: Guys we have a problem. There’s a Vampirian here. Leslie grabbed the hilt of her chain scythe around her waist. SOL 2: What!? Where? SOL 1: Over by the church, let’s go. Leslie followed them in the shadows, half expecting to see Aaron tied up outside the church. But surprisingly, it wasn’t him. Rather it was a little kid. The boy looked terrified. He wasn’t bound, but was curled up in a ball. Leslie could smell tears. The boy had been and was still crying. Again, she readied her weapon. SOL 3: So…what do we do? I don’t mind putting a steak through a full grown vamp but…it’s a kid. A little boy. I have a kid at home man. Squad leader: You f**king fairies. Give me your gun. Everyone stood back. The squad leader held up the crossbow and readied his finger, then stopped. Squad leader: Wait. This isn’t right. I can’t do it. The crowd seemed relieved. Squad leader: I can’t do it, because blood would get all over the church wall. I don’t want to piss off the man upstairs by having this demon’s blood on the building. The crowd groaned and the leader walked behind the boy, the church now facing the squad leader’s back. Just before he could pull the trigger, a large blade pierced through his chest. Leslie: Oh boy…Aaron what’re you doing? The blade had entered through the back. The blade slid cleanly up and through. The blade was twisted in the air, and came back down, sharp end first, cutting the leader clean in half. As his two halves fell to the ground, a blood soaked figure stood up. Shrouded in shadow, and with piercing red eyes, the figure slammed the staff of its scythe into the ground. A second blade appeared from the base of the staff facing the opposite direction of the first. The figure threw the scythe at the crowd of SOLs. The blades cut through the bodies, and stuck into a tree. The ones who had managed to escape the blades ran off. The figure walked over and grabbed its scythe from within the tree. Leslie emerged from the shadows. Leslie: Overkill Aaron. Look it up. Aaron: … Aaron’s eyes remained bloodshot and were growing darker. Leslie: Damn it Aaron. You forgot to take your pills again. Here, open wide. Leslie pulled a bottle out of her pocket and took out a small tablet. Aaron took and swallowed it. Within seconds, his eyes returned to normal. Aaron: Thanks. I hadn’t taken that in a few hours. Leslie: Yeah, no problem. Ok…so what do we do with him? Aaron: Let’s ask Trace. Trace, you there? Kiley: Yeah, I’m here. What’s the problem? Aaron: There’s a kid here. He’s passed out, but we overheard some SOLs say he’s a Vampirian. Should we bring him in? Kiley: Is he the one they were searching for? Leslie: I don’t think so. They seemed surprised he was here. Should we bring him in? Kiley: Yes. Bring him to the docks. We’re there tonight. Aaron picked up the boy, and the two walked south to the city’s docks. As they arrived, they looked around for a black ship. No such ship was seen. They walked along the docks in silence. Suddenly, there was a soft thud behind them. The two looked at each other and nodded. Leslie ran off into the shadows. Aaron continued walking, the boy draped over his shoulder. Light footsteps were approaching from behind, and getting closer. Someone suddenly grabbed Aaron around the neck; a blade was placed against his neck as well. Aaron: I believe you should have said- Leslie jumped from the shadows, bearing her weapon. She wrapped the two blades around the attacker’s neck. With a simple movement, she could behead them. Aaron: Checkmate….Sky. Skyler, another member of the team, lowered his weapon. He turned and nodded to Leslie. He motioned to a nearby ship yard warehouse. The warehouse had an opening, so that ships could be docked inside. The door was closed however, most likely to make sure no would find them. They all walked into the warehouse. Around then, the boy began to come to. He started yelling and squirming. Aaron dropped him and laughed. Aaron: Damn; this kids got some energy. Leslie: Well, it’s to be expected. He was asleep the whole way here. Kiley: So this is the kid that almost cost you two your lives. The warehouse lights turned on. The kid looked around, confused. He turned around and behind him, hanging upside down was Kiley. One of the leaders of the group. The boy screamed and tried to run, but Kiley grabbed the back of his shirt, and held on. Leslie: Let go Ki. Kiley: Very poor choice of words dear. Kiley let the kid go. He stumbled forward and hit something in the shadow cast by the warehouse lights. ???: So this kids a Vampirian? Aaron: According to the SOLs. John: Well then…WELCOME TO THE FAMILY KID! Names John and I am; the leader of the group. Kiley: ONE OF THEM. John picked the kid up and squeezed him. The boy’s face quickly turned colors. Skyler: John, he can’t breathe. John looked down at the boy and smiled nervously. He dropped the boy, who gasped for air as he hit the ground. John: Sorry, I forget how strong I am. You’re…kind of short aren’t ya? The boy frowned. Boy: I am not. You freaks are just freakishly tall. Leslie: Anyways; this kid was in the graveyard and the SOLs weren’t looking for him. So we have no idea what to do. Kiley: I’ll take a look. Kiley jumped off the low beam. She grabbed the boys head and looked into his eyes. She told him to smile, and examined his teeth. She spun him around and touched his shoulder blades. Her eyes grew wide. Kiley: He’s….a Vampirian. But…it’s like he’s a new born or something. His teeth are so small…not fully grown. And he has two bumps on his back where…wings should be… Aaron: Wings? Vampirians haven’t had wings in generations. Kiley: Yeah…that’s true. Hmm…I have to do some research on this. Boy: Wait, wait, wait. What’s a Vampirian? Who are you guys? What’s going on? Leslie: A Vampirian is a pure blooded vampire. Not just infected through a bite or something. They’re born into it. Or more recently, we’re given our powers. Vampires are weak to garlic, sunlight, holy water, silver, wooden steaks, and stuff like that. Vampirians aren’t. We can walk into the light freely. We don’t burn, and we sure as hell don’t shimmer. Our eyes are piercing red, if we haven’t fed in a while. Aaron: As for who we are, we’re a group of Vampirians who protect this city…somewhat. In all reality we’re just here to make sure that our species continues to remain hidden. So if that means we have to kill some humans, sure we’ll do it. Kiley: Speaking of which, I’m getting some movement. Two large groups of SOLs. And another third group of magic users in the south again. John, you take the magic users, they’re all gathering at the community center. Skyler, you’re on the smaller group, North Park. Aaron I’ll have you take the larger group in Western Estates. Leslie: What? So I get to stay here and play baby sitter? Kiley: No. I need you to run some errands for me. Everyone go. Skyler opened the backdoor to the warehouse, walked outside, and ran off into the distance. John disappeared into a puff of black smoke. Aaron simply walked outside, and jumped onto the warehouse roof, and continued towards his target. Leslie: Ki….why? Kiley: There’s something I need to test. And I’ll need those materials. And the shop owner to get them from always lowers the prices for females. Besides, Aaron and John aren’t allowed in that store again after that little werewolf incident. Leslie: And Sky? Kiley: You know he doesn’t talk. Kiley handed a list of materials to Leslie, and she left the warehouse. The boy stood alone, looking worried. Kiley: Don’t worry. I promise, none of the test will hurt much. Just some blood. The boy gulped. An obvious reaction after learning that your captors are vampires. END CHAPTER 1. Chapter 2: Zombies, warlocks, and a darkling. (John’s missions) John reappeared on the roof of the community center. He looked below, and could see people, of different ages entering the center. He saw one person about his size standing by his car, away from the larger group. John snuck off the roof and snuck up behind the man. The man put out a cigarette by stepping on it. John: You know, those’ll kill you. The man turned around. John: But not before I do. He grabbed the man’s neck and squeezed until the man stopped moving. He took the robe the man wore, and put it on. Hiding the body in the car. He walked into the center, and was surrounded by warlocks. There was a stage set up at the center of the center. A warlock in a black robe walked up onto the stage. Head warlock: Welcome gentlemen, one and all! To this gathering, of some of the greatest minds of the magical world. Now, I’m sure you’ve all heard by this point, but if not: an hour or so ago, a group of local Vampirians took out a large group of SOL soldiers. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem, however, they found the child in the graveyard the hunters were in. A concerned mummer went through the crowd. Jamie: Who is this child? The crowd looked at John. Head Warlock: Judging by your robe, you’re a new comer to the magic world. Well the child is…is the…who, is that back there? The crowd turned to the front door. The man John thought he’d killed was standing there. Man: There’s…there’s a…Vampirian amongst us… The man collapsed to the floor. Another man ran over and picked him up and sat him against the wall. The helping man’s hand began to glow as it hovered over the unconscious man’s body. Helping man: His wind pipes are nearly crushed beyond use. He’s getting enough air not to cause brain damage, but he’ll continue to pass out for a while. Only two of the local Vampirians could have done this. Head Warlock: Then we shall find them. Everyone bowed down onto one knee, including John. The head warlock took out a staff and began chanting: Revelare lamia. Revelare frigoris eius corde. Revelare sua pessima, sanguis, lactans modis. EXSERO EAS! (Reveal the vampire. Reveal his cold heart. Reveal his wicked, blood sucking ways. REVEAL THEM!) As he chanted, John could see a glow coming from his robe. He knew any second that he would be caught. Just then... Man: There he is! Everyone looked, but it wasn’t at John. Instead it was a robbed figure near the back door. The figure took off. Then someone shouted and pointed at John. John: well then…guess it’s time for me to go. But I’ll never get out…unless… John quickly threw his robe into the air, and punched the ground. The floor cracked outwards, following a shockwave, its epicenter being at John’s fist. The crowd fell to its feet as the wave passed them. John jumped over the crowd and out the front doors. He shut the doors and twister the handles together to keep them from opening. John: Great….Kiley, you there? Kiley: Yeah, I’m here. Hold on, I can’t keep three telepathic connections together when the receivers are so far away. John: it’s fine. Keep a connection to Aaron and Skyler. I’ll walk back. Kiley: That’s the thing…it’s with Aaron and Leslie. Andrews…he’s…missing. (Leslie’s mission) Leslie walked down to the city’s China town. It was always open, through all hours of the night. Leslie: Excuse me, sir? I need…two pounds of squid and another pound of…herring? The man didn’t seem too surprised. Man: Give my thanks to Ki. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have been able to open my shop. Leslie gave a faint smile, and started back for the docks when something caught her eye. A strange glow off in the distance. She had some time, so she decided to check it out. When she got closer, she noticed a strange symbol was on the ground. The symbol was a circle with strange symbols. The circle was five feet in diameter. Leslie quickly took her phone out of her pocket and took a picture. As she turned to go, the circle grew brighter, and brighter. The light became too strong, so she had no choice but to look away. When the light dimmed, there was now a crater in the ground. A low roar came from within the hole. A large hand appeared from within the hole and seemed to be looking for something to grab. When the hand found a car, it pulled on it, pulling the car into the hole. The car came flying out of the hole a moment later, and slammed into a building, sending glass raining onto Leslie’s head. The creature finally managed to climb out of the hole. It was a strange looking creature. Its body structure looked like stone. Its eyes were glowing bright red, and it had large claws. It looked around until it saw Leslie. Demon: Fleshling, what is your name? Leslie: Leslie… Demon: Less…lie? You must be a creature of pure intentions and honesty. You and all creatures like you must die. The demon picked up a parking meter from the ground, taking a large chunk of the concrete with it. The demons threw it at Leslie, the end with the concrete first. Leslie dropped the bag that had her supplies in it, made her hand like she would to slap someone, and did just that. The parking meter was just inches from her torso, and she back handed it. Sending it flying towards a building. She still had her chain scythe with her, so she grabbed it from her belt. She ran towards the demon, jumped, and kicked it in the jaw. The demon didn’t seem fazed. She landed behind the demon, and turned around, just in time to get kicked back down the street. She got up and looked at the demon. Leslie: Ok…now, I’m pissed. She hissed, revealing her fangs at the demon, who in turn roared. The demon charged at her, picking up speed as it did. Leslie stood firm, she looked behind her at a street light. She looked down at the shadows on the ground. She smiled and waited. The demon was looming over head now; ready to pummel her into the ground. As its fist came down, Leslie faded into the shadow cast by the demon, and reappeared behind it. She wrapped the chain of her Kusarigama around the demon’s neck. She turned and jumped off its back. As it toppled over, she tossed it over her shoulder, letting one side of the chain go. The demon flew through the air, and fell back into the hole where the circle had been. Flames shot up from the hole, and a blinding light soon followed. As the light faded, the ground had returned to normal, although the circle pattern was etched into the ground in a scorch mark. Leslie scoffed. Leslie: A demon…lame. She walked over and picked up the bag of supplies. She began walking back to the docks. She arrived and opened the back door. When she walked in, the boy was chained up and hanging upside down. Kiley was standing nearby, with several books and pages floating around her. Leslie: Ki! The books and pages fell to the ground. Kiley looked back, slightly annoyed. Kiley: No its ok, go ahead and interrupt me. I was just trying to do some research. Leslie: Why is he upside down with a towel shoved in his mouth? Kiley: he kept trying to escape, and he wouldn’t stop yelling for help. Leslie: Maybe because you’re technically kidnapping him? Kiley: Excuses. You get the stuff? Leslie: yeah, but I don’t see how this is going to help us. Kiley: You mix these together; dry them, crush them into a powder, and then burn them. It enhances your mental Vampirian powers. Leslie: Yours are already the strongest though. Kiley: Not strong enough. I can’t seem to break this kid’s will. It’s too strong. Hold that thought it’s your brother…I lost my connection with him. (Aaron’s mission) Aaron swung his scythe, and it collided with a wall. Aaron: Show yourself you b*****d, quiet hiding in the shadows. ???: Nice try, one swing of that scythe and I’m finished. Aaron: Your soldiers are dead. And you’re next. ???: Thing is, I’m not weak like them. Aaron pulled the scythe from the wall and looked around. Something fell on his back and tackled him to the ground. He elbowed whatever it was, and quickly got up. Aaron: You’re pretty agile and fast for a SOL. ???: I’m no SOL. I’m just trying to one up you. Aaron: What? ???: If you survive, I’ll tell you. The person took a small detonator from their pocket and pressed the button. The floor below Aaron gave out and crumbled. Aaron hit the floor below and looked around. Aaron: I survived ya cheap b*****d! ???: That’s not what you have to survive. I’ll meet you at the stairs…maybe. No, I was talking about the warlock’s “pets”. The figure disappeared from sight. Growling was steadily approaching Aaron. He jumped up, and used his small claws to hook himself to the wall. In the dim light multiple figures were seen. They ran out of the shadows and up to the wall where Aaron was. They jumped and clawed at the wall. Flesh torn, blood dripping from their teeth… Aaron: Of course….zombies. Where the hell were they keeping these things? Not important…how do you get out of this building? An emergency exit sign was down the hall. Aaron’s scythe was stuck in the floor, surrounded by zombies. Aaron: Damn…Ki I need help here. Kiley: I’m getting some stress…zombies? Aaron: Yeah…I don’t have my weapon, what do I do? Kiley: You have to use your Vampirian powers. You can’t stay afraid of them forever. Try a simple one…it’s called impulse. You just breathe in deeply, and when you exhale, focus the same energy you do into your scythe into your exhaling. The air will create a wall around you that will expand a few feet around you. Aaron did as Kiley told him. He inhaled deeply and focused. He let a slight breath out. The dust on his clothes blew off. He jumped down into the crowd and exhaled sharply. The zombies around him were pushed away by a wall of air. Kiley: Now try flare. Become angry. That’s all you need to do while doing impulse. Aaron: Right…this can’t possibly back fire. I’ll remember that. Aaron grabbed his scythe and quickly ran to the stairs. The mob of zombies followed close behind him. Not wanting to be followed, he began swinging his scythe wildly. He stopped to admire his work. Aaron: Hmm…ghouls. Zombies would be much tougher. He walked up the stairs, and to his surprise, the mysterious attacker was there. Aaron: Ok, you’ve got about four seconds before I gut you like the heartless swine you are. Brandon: Fine. My names Brandon. I’m a Vampire from the next town over. My team was sent here by order of the vampire Nation council. We’re here to warn you guys; something big is going down. Our town was quarantined of every Vampire and Vampirian. Not by the council. By the SOLs. Some type of gas they spread around the town. Burning weaker Vampires to ashes, and causing us stronger ones to weaken. Look, we have no choice but to remain hidden. You’ll be seeing more of us. Watch your back. The figure threw an object past Aaron’s head. It hit something that groaned. Aaron turned around to see a zombie. As it fell down the stairs, other zombies’ groaned further down the stairs. Aaron turned back. Brandon was gone. Aaron: Yep…that doesn’t piss me off at all. Aaron skin began to glow red. He inhaled then exhaled. The air around him burst into flames, and traveled down the hall and down the stairs. Aaron: This won’t end well. The building suddenly went up in flames, and exploded from the ground up. Aaron was tossed from the building and landed in a small pond outside the building. Aaron resurfaced and looked around. The building toppled to the ground. Kiley: Aaron…what the HELL ARE YOU DOING!? Aaron: Um…going for a dip. What’s up? Kiley: Leslie just walked in but I have a situation. I can’t seem to sense Skyler anymore… END CHAPTER 2 Chapter 3: A secret no more. Everyone regrouped at the warehouse. The Vampirian boy had fallen asleep and was still chained upside down. Everyone except Kiley stood around, not knowing what to do. John: So what do we have…a gathering of warlocks talking about him? John pointed at the boy. Leslie: A strange circle in the ground that no one seems to know about that summoned something from the ground… Leslie pulled out her camera and browsed through the pictures. Aaron: And the Vampirian nation sending these vampire posers into our turf…wait, Leslie let me see that picture. Leslie handed the camera to Aaron who quickly looked through the pictures. His eyes grew wide as he saw the circle. John and Kiley walked over to look too. John: That’s the symbol all of those warlocks were wearing on their robes earlier. Kiley: I’ve seen that in some old books too…it’s some type of- Aaron: Transmutation circle. This one is to summon creatures. The writing on it is new, so I can read it easily. It Locates and draws in dark energy…what did you say this thing that came out of the ground looked like? Leslie: Um…its skin looked like stone, but didn’t feel like it. It had red yet soulless looking eyes. Aaron: Sounds like a demon. Kiley looked shocked, and used her telepathy to bring a book over. Kiley: It looked like this? Kiley flipped to a page that had a creature matching the demon perfectly. Leslie: That’s it…why? Kiley: This is powerful, if not a bit of over used black magic. These creatures used to be highly renowned but now they are just a laughing stock. They are the underlings of much more powerful lords. Aaron: Makes sense. Could you find out who these guys are working for trace? Kiley: Sure. In the meantime; there’s some…SOLs, on the way to the graveyard again. John, you take care of it. At this point, the Vampirian boy began to stir and awaken. John disappeared in a puff of black smoke again. The boy didn’t look too surprised. Boy: I’m so used to that at this point. Kiley: Oh, I figured it out. He’s a pure, born into it Vampirian. He was raised by humans though, so he’s never fed. How his Vampirian blood hasn’t caused him to go berserk is beyond me, but I think you two should take him out for a little late night feeding. Aaron: Sounds good. There are some joggers in the park right about now. We’ll hit them. Boy: Wait, what am I doing? Leslie: With one of our team members out, we need someone to replace him. And since you’re a Vampirian, it’ll be you. The boy hesitated, and then gave it some thought. Boy: Well…ever since you guys found me, I’ve had this strange, empty, hungry feeling. Leslie: Your first feeding is a big mile stone in Vampirian life kid. You’ll have to feed at least once a day. Twice since you’re new and still growing into it. Boy: What about those tablets you guys take? Why can’t I take those? Aaron: Those are to suppress the rage of not feeding. We need to feed too. We just fed before we found you, but I can feed again. You Leslie? Leslie: Yeah. People with AB blood always leave me feeling hungry afterwards. Boy: Ok…I’ll do it. Kiley: You’re being surprisingly ok with this. Boy: The way I figure it, either you guys are right, and I’m a...Vamp…irian… or I’m completely nuts. The three of them exited the warehouse, and made their way to the city’s largest park; North Park. The very park Skyler had disappeared from. Kiley: Aaron…can you hear me ok? Aaron: Yeah. What’s going on? Kiley: I have something to tell you about the kid. Keep it to yourself. I think Leslies starting to warm up and take him under her wing. She’d never trust him again if she knew. Aaron: Ok. I’m listening. As Kiley explained, Aaron’s expression grew more concerned. He looked over at the boy with a look of disappointment. Aaron: You sure about this? Kiley: Yes. I triple checked my research. Aaron: Thanks. Leslie: What’s wrong? Aaron: Oh…nothing about Skyler came up from the graveyard search. We’re here. They arrived at the park gates on the south end. Aaron: If I had to guess, I’d say it’s about….1:30 or so…which means the joggers should be here soon. Boy: Ok…so what do we do? Leslie: You? Nothing. Us? We’re going to grab some of them from the pack. There was a street light nearby. The only object that cast a shadow across the pathway was a bench. Aaron went over and sat on the bench. The boy’s eyes grew wide as Aaron seemed to fade away into the bench. Boy: Where’d he go!? Leslie: Shhhh. He’s using one of our Vampirian abilities. We can fade into and blend in with the shadows. A power Vampires are stripped of, being impure. Now wait for it. A light, but quickly growing sound of something rolling against the stone pathway was approaching. Two people and a kid rolled around the corner. The shadow of the bench grew thicker, and looked as though it was rising from the ground. The three skaters hit the shadow and fell into the bushes. Leslie walked over, and clapped her hands over the woman and man’s mouth. The boy was about to scream for help. Leslie: Scream and you’ll never see these two again kid. We aren’t going to kill you. But you may wake up feeling dizzy. The kid stopped himself as tears rolled down his face. Aaron crawled through the bushes. He looked over the three and frowned. Aaron: Great…these guys are just now starting to blade. I hate these guys. They always have that stale Dorito taste. Leslie: Deal with it. Knock them out Aaron. Aaron inhaled and exhaled slowly from his mouth. A light, bluish colored haze traveled from his mouth into the faces of the three skaters. The mist dissipated and the skaters all passed out. Aaron stood the kid up against the bushes. Aaron: Ok, so here’s what you do kid: You use your fangs to pierce the skin. After that; you simply place you mouth around the puncture wounds, and suck out the blood. Choose your spot wisely…if you end up killing him, we’ll have to dispose of the body. Boy: Won’t he become a vampire? Leslie: Not unless you leave you fangs in. If you just prick their neck enough to let blood flow out, then they’ll stay human. The tradeoff; is that without the “savage” feeding method, we have to drink more than normal. Because we get less from this way. Boy: Ok…so, here? The boy pointed to a part of the kid’s neck. Aaron and Leslie nodded. The boy walked over and knelt down. He had a nervous but determined look on his face. He went down to bite but hesitated. Aaron: Told you he’d never do it. The boy growled under his breath. In one quick motion, he bit down on the kid’s neck and pulled away. Two small trails of blood flowed from his neck. Aaron: Wow. Didn’t think you had it in you. Ok, go ahead. Boy: How will I know when I’ve drank enough? Leslie: Your fangs will get this strange feeling in them. Mostly, you’ll just know. The boy smiled slightly, and went to drink the blood. Aaron and Leslie each bit the neck of their victims and drank their blood. Aaron and Leslie were done, long before the boy was. Leslie: He may kill this kid… Aaron: Crap…we didn’t count on this. Just then, the boy fell over, and started groaning on the ground. Aaron and Leslie watched, uncertain about what to do. The boy’s mouth opened as he gasped. His small fangs were growing longer. His wings grew, but compressed themselves against his back. His fingernails grew long, and pointed. His eye’s pupils turned red. The boy stood up and looked at his arms. Boy: What happened? Aaron: Drinking so much blood…you must have awakened your true Vampirian form. That reminds me…what’s your name? AJ: Oh, it’s AJ. I don’t remember what it stands for. Leslie: AJ it is then. Kiley: Guys, can you hear me? Aaron: Yeah trace, what’s up? Kiley: Hello? Crap my telepathy is being interrupted. Listen you guys, we have a major situation. The warehouse is under attack. SOLs everywhere. I can’t contact John. I think they may have gotten him. I’m next… Don’t come to save me, please. There’s something here. Something…not human. I don’t think it’s even a living creature. I don’t know what it is. I’m trying to escape but they have me pinned. If you guys can hear me; go to the South District warehouse location, and wait for me. If I’m not there in twenty four hours, go to the Vampire nation for help. I’m sure they will know what to do. Again, do NOT try and help us yourselves. This is bigger than anything I have, let alone you guys have dealt with. Good luck. Agh, damn it…DIE!! Kiley’s telepathy connection ended. Going against her orders, Aaron, Leslie, and AJ ran back to the docks. Having just fed, they were able to make it back in mere seconds. AJ: Is this super speed thing part of the feeding effect? Aaron: Yeah…oh no…look. Off in the distance, the warehouse was up in flames. It was surrounded by people in suits of black. There was a truck nearby that was shaking violently, as though something were trying to escape. Knowing they would never be able to handle it alone, the three instead used the rooftops to travel to the south district of the city. Full of thugs, gangs, and rouge vampires, it wasn’t the idle place for a safe house. This is what made it so brilliant. No one would ever suspect it. After arriving, Aaron fell to the ground, passed out. AJ jumped up on some crates marked “stuff” and fell asleep. Leslie slept on the only couch in the warehouse. The next morning… Aaron: Guys, this arrived last night. Aaron held a small package. Leslie: It says “To the pathetic Vampirians.” AJ: “From a former ally.” Leslie opened the package. Leslie: This is Skyler’s charm necklace. There a note inside. Aaron: “Dear pathetic excuses of Vampirians; this necklace is to serve as a proposal. Come to this address ready to “Dance” or you will never see your friends again. Sincerely yours; The Freak, Dark Overseer.” Leslie, AJ and Aaron stared at the note. Aaron crumpled it up in his hand. Aaron: Ok, I think I know who this is…and if he wants a war, I’ll kick his vampire a*s back to his city. Let’s go. END CHAPTER 3. Sub chapter 1: The Vampirians; A history. Aaron, Leslie and AJ walked around the warehouse. AJ looked at Aaron and Leslie nervously… AJ: Hey…can I ask you two something? Aaron: Uh yeah, sure. AJ: How’d it happen? Aaron: Huh? AJ: Well, how’d you…become…Vampirians? Leslie: Oh…well…that’s a story. It started with John. We all seemed to know each other in the past. Aaron and I were dating for example. As were trace and John. Well…John went out of town, and was helping a guy he thought was homeless. But when John helped him, he bit him and told him he was to take on his role. John told us the man faded away into nothingness. When he started getting a thirst for blood, his eyes turning red in the sunlight, and even the inhuman strength, John said he was convinced he was something inhuman…just not sure what. It wasn’t until after the Vampire High council told John what he was, that things seem to go downhill. See, the one who willed John his powers, was known as a Vampirian overlord. Overlords are amongst the highest of the Vampirians. They were the first ones to write the very strict and thick line between Vampires and Vampirians. Well, John returned home, a bit concerned. According to the council, Vampirians choose if they age. They can make their bodies look as young as they want…well…to an extent. He figured people would notice if he never died. Well, things were going well…until one fateful night. Jamie and Kiley were driving home when they hit a patch of black ice. The car careened of the highway. The fall didn’t hurt John as you might have guessed. But…Kiley wasn’t as lucky. Jamie didn’t know how it worked, so he just bit her neck and thought about saving her. It worked. She was brought back as a Vampirian. But as a Fledgling. Fledglings are like weaker versions of Overlords. AJ: Wait, you said if you leave your fangs in too long it’ll turn people into servants… Aaron: Oh, we lied. You actually transfer some of your Vampirian DNA over. Vampires make servants. Vampirians make Vampires. Overlords make Fledglings. Fledglings make ordinary Vampirians. There’s only one person who could make them all…but he’s not important. Anyways, I guess I’ll pick up the story there. Leslie was volunteering at the hospital when I was admitted to the E.R. Hit and run. It didn’t look well for me. I managed to recover enough to wheel myself around in a chair, but they said I wouldn’t survive to the end of the year. At the time it was December 18. Well; I had been making friends with this nice old man who wasn’t long for the world…according to the doctors. He and I became good friends. One day…I messed up. The nurse told me not to take too much of my pain medicine. I couldn’t help myself…I hurt so much I took as much as I needed to, to make the pain stop. It worked…a bit too well. My body started shutting down basically. Everything got blurry. The last thing I saw was a guy in a black suit walk in. I recognized the voice as the old man. I remember him saying that I made his last days fun and memorable just talking to him, and that he was going to spare my life, but in return, I must take up his duties as an Overlord. No idea what that meant at the time, I passed out. When I woke up, my nurse was looking at me; she had a shocked look on her face. She told me that all my fractured, or broken bones were completely healed and in perfect health. My minimal internal bleeding was no longer apparent. I was completely fine. They ran some more tests over the next few days. Then they released me. Well, while I was walking down the hall, I overheard some nurses talking. They said they were glad that I was better, so that maybe some girl would start responding again. Another nurse said it was too late, that she was slipping away. I saw them all walk into and out of a room. When I walked in, it was Leslie. I guess depression got the best of her, having me in the hospital with a death clock. Well…I had no idea what to do to help, when I heard someone tell me to bite her neck. It was Kiley and John. Confused, I asked what he meant. John explained that the old man was known as a Vampirian overlord, and what that meant I can do, powers and otherwise. Stunned, I refused to believe him…but with her heart monitor making that ominous flat line sound, I would try anything. So my surprise…I expected the blood to taste horrible but it didn’t. Well beyond that, I called him a liar. They told me to wait. And low and behold after a few minutes went by and the monitor started beeping again. I had the task of explaining it to Leslie…that didn’t end well AJ: What do you mean? Leslie: Let’s just say I tried to prove him wrong. I went up to the roof and jumped off. When I didn’t die, and healed almost instantly, I believed him. Aaron: Yeah. And then came the hard part. We had to fake our own deaths. We had to come her to look after the city. This is where they both happen to protect. Well, we hatched the genius plan. We found four people who were enough like us to be us. We drained them dry of blood…well…enough to knock them out, but not enough to kill them. We removed all their teeth, and torched the car…making it look like an act of violence. When the news said it was the four of us, we had no choice but to come to this town. And ever since then, we’ve been here. That was about 57 years ago. AJ: You guys are old…wait…what about Skyler? Leslie: Oh, he was a fanatic. He saw us torch the car and followed us here. He saw us fighting a bunch of SOLs and asked how we survived the car explosion. We had no choice but to turn him into one of us…that and he figured it out. What we were and all and begged us to bring him into the family. So we did he doesn’t talk because when he was bitten his vocal cords were punctured. They healed, but…he still can’t talk. AJ: And…what’s SOL stand for and how’d they come into the picture? Aaron: SOL stands for Sons of Light. They are a cult basically. They are fanatics. Nut jobs. The Salam witch hunt, the black plague, Pirates that attacked ships; that was them. They have been Vampirian enemies since…well a long time. They’re fast. Organized. They have growing numbers. They are more advanced than any other human on earth…or they’d like to think so. They have scientist who are always trying to come up with a “cure” for Vampirians and Vampires. Their top most scientists is Dr. Upshaw. He’s a total lunatic. He’s killed and dissected more Vampires than we care to know. But he’s never gotten a Vampirian as far as we know. As long as he doesn’t, we’re fine. If he does, it could be trouble. AJ: Why? Leslie: Vampires have weaknesses that we don’t. So the SOL weapons are based around Vampires, they don’t affect us much. But if they are able to discover Vampirian weaknesses, they might be able to craft a weapon capable of killing us. AJ: Vampirian weaknesses? Like what? Aaron: Obsidian. It’s like a kryptonite to us. It sucks away our powers. We become powerless mortals. Our real age begins to catch up to us as well. But like Superman, if we get away from the Obsidian, our powers and immortality starts to return. AJ: Wow…I didn’t realize there was anything more to being undead than feeding. Aaron: Way more. Now then; everyone ready? Leslie: Got the emergency pack. AJ: I got: me, myself, and I. Aaron: Ok, let’s do this. END SUB CHAPTER 1. Chapter 4: The mercenaries. AJ, Aaron, and Leslie left their small warehouse. Knowing the address on the letter, Aaron led the way. As they neared it, they were stopped. Leslie pulled the two into an alleyway and looked down the street. Leslie: Sea water. A salty smell in the air… Aaron: Yeah, the docks are a few blocks over. Leslie: Not that. Hmm…here, put these in. Leslie reached into her bag, and pulled out two sets of ear plugs. Aaron and AJ put them in, and the three of them walked down the street casually. There was a large crowd in front of the building with the address on it. As they walked up… Bouncer: Hey, you three, you; Aaron, Leslie and some kid? AJ frowned. Aaron: Yeah. It wasn’t difficult to tell they weren’t normal. Aaron had a large scythe strapped to his back, and Leslie had a Kusarigama around her belt. AJ had a sword sheathed at his side that he’d picked up from the warehouse. The three were showed inside. Inside, there was loud Dubstep music playing. The crowd of people moved aside as they walked through. ???: Well, well, here they are, OUR V.I.Ps have arrived people, make a space. The crowd made a large circle around the three, and looked up at a balcony. From the balcony, a guy in a shiny purple vest appeared. He had a cane in his hand, and an old style hat with a feather in it. Aaron: He looks like a pimp…who is it? Leslie: It’s….no one I know. Dylan: Allow me to introduce myself. I am Dylan. Nothing more or less, and this, is my palace of rave! The crowd burst into a roaring applause and cheering. Dylan: Now then. I believe you three owe me something, oh that’s right; your heads. You see, a good….friend, has told me about an unfortunate situation. That being: you three. You’re sticking your noses where they ought not to be. So, I’m going to kill you all, put your blood in the fire sprinklers, and get this place roaring even louder. Again, the building erupted in cheers and applause. Aaron: Gonna have to cut the party short. We’re in a bit of a rush. Dylan: Hmm. Ladies, make our two male guests more comfortable. Tear the girl limb from limb. Several girls from the crowd approached and began singing. Aaron and AJ exchanged confused looks. AJ drew his sword, and swung it, severing one of the girl’s arms. She let out a high pitched scream, and fell to the ground, holding the stub that used to be her arm. Blue blood covered the ground. Leslie: I knew it; Sirens. That was the smell. You pulled Sirens from the sea? Aaron: Leslie; Sirens are from the desert. Mermaids are from the sea. Either way, Dylan, get your a*s down here. Dylan was nowhere to be seen. The other sirens looked enraged. Their eyes went pitch black, and their teeth became as sharp as knives. They all rushed at the group. Aaron and Leslie drew their weapons. One by one, the Sirens were killed, however; the Sirens were not the only dangerous things in the crowd. The crowd appeared to be made up of Vampires. Although they were Vampirians, the crowd seemed pushed to kill them. With the Sirens dead, and the crowd closing in slowly, Leslie grinned and reached into her pack. She took out, and tossed a small marble into the air. The marble quickly flashed, and as it hit the ceiling, burst into a thick mist. As the mist descended to the floor, the crowd began chocking and holding their throats. One by one, the crowd burst into flames, or simply withered away into husk. Leslie: Blast marble. The mist is garlic and silver shards. I have more. Here, take these. The blue ones are the one I just tossed. Red are the same, with holy water and wood shards mixed in. And the gold ones have rosary petals in them, and also give off a concentrated ultra violet ray that only affects things within the mist. We’ll split up I’ll go- Just as she was finishing her sentence, the floor below Leslie opened up, and she dropped into it. The trap door closed again. Aaron and AJ tried to break it open. Dylan ran past the two, and out the club’s back door. Aaron ran after him. AJ tried to follow, but saw something shining from the second floor. He walked up and found a book titled: Incantations: Vampirian Overlord myths. AJ read through the page that was marked with a black rose. His eyes widened as he read. He heard a door open and looked down at the dance floor, and drew his sword. Meanwhile, Aaron had continued tracking down Dylan. Dylan led Aaron to an old junkyard. There was a pile of cars stacked and crushed together to resemble a king’s chair. Dylan sat down and looked back at Aaron. Dylan: I’m surprised that someone as fat as you, could follow me as far and fast as you did. Aaron: I’m angry, pissed and a Vampirian. Your Vampire or human mind just can’t seem to comprehend that can it? Dylan: I am a Vampire good sir. Although it won’t be long before I am more. Aaron: A Vampire can’t become a Vampirian unless a Vampirian WILLINGLY gives up his powers. Dylan: In not too long, Vampirians will no longer be anything but a memory. Aaron: What’s that supposed to mean? Dylan: You won’t live long enough to need to know. Dylan snapped his fingers. From behind several stacks of scrap and trash, a dozen people stepped out. Aaron: Junkyard brawl? Wow…retro. Meanwhile, while Aaron and AJ were dealing with their problems… Leslie: Douchebag Vampires. Where the…where am I? Underneath the club was a large cave, with a single path leading away from it. Leslie followed it. As she walked, she noticed her footsteps were becoming less dirt being crushed beneath your feet, and more; hollow metallic pinging. The cave slowly transitioned into a large metal building. There were two large bulkhead doors. She touched them and focused. A Vampirian ability; allowed her to sense the energies of living creatures through solid objects. A sudden surge of multiple presences. She backed away from the door, and hooked her chain scythe back onto her belt. She took some sunglasses out of her bag, and smiled. She ran up to the door, and punched it three times. The doors fell to the ground with two loud crashes. What was in the room shocked her. It was a lab. Several down large test tube like objects were spaced down two walls of the room. Only a handful had people in them. There was one chamber in particular that caught her attention. As she approached it… ???: HEY!, you’re not one of the normal guards. Who are you? Never mind that actually. Can you please get me out of here? Huh? Please? I’m begging you; I can’t deal with the tests, the needles…the augmentations…I CANT DO IT ANYMORE DO YOU HEAR ME!? Girl: We all hear you Loki, SHUT UP! Loki: There’s a person here Esther, keep bitching and I won’t let you out! Guy: Oh…whoa, there really is a person. Loki: Yeah Aslan, who the hell you think I was talking to? Aslan: You normally hallucinate. Esther: Miss, miss? Can you let us out please? Leslie: Fine. But after I’m done. Aslan: And why should we listen to you? Leslie: because I’m the only person who’s gonna be able to help you anytime soon, and I’m a Vampirian and can break through this glass with ease and crush your neck to the size of a straw. Loki: These can withstand Vampires girl. So your threats are worthless. Leslie walked over to an empty pod, and punched through the glass. She grabbed it from the bottom and ripped it out of the wall. She tossed it across the room, and watched as it landed and burst into flames. Leslie: Vampirians are over a thousand times stranger, faster, and more cunning than any Vampire. So, I ask the questions. First, what is this place? Loki: It’s his lab…Dr. Upshaw’s lab. He’s- Leslie: Upshaw? That guy from the sixteenth century? Esther: He’s been researching an object that goes by many names. He refers to it as the gem of eternal life. Leslie: Also known as a Philosopher’s stone? Aslan: Or a Red Elixir. Leslie: Quiet. He’s researching this? What’s that have to do with you guys? Esther: He has to drain us dry, and adds blood of several different creatures. He compresses it all into a gem. Loki: Then he puts that gem in his life support suit. He’s lived so long because of the gems. Leslie: And you guys…aren’t human…are you? Aslan: Were. These cages keep us human. Outside of them…well…I’m a gargoyle. Esther: I’m a gorgon. Loki: I’m a werewolf. Leslie: And the others? All: DON’T REALSE THEM! Leslie: Ok… Esther: They aren’t human. They aren’t even living creatures. They are Shadows. Leslie’s eyes widened. She’d read about shadows. Shadows were creatures of pure evil. They fed off life force energy. Leaving nothing but husk. They weren’t threatening to Vampirians directly. They could however, kill off a Vampirian’s food source. Causing starvation. Leslie: They are weak against U.V. light. Leslie jumped up and grabbed the ceiling. She placed a small U.V. light on it, and aimed it down at the pods. She jumped back down, and released those three, and several other who they said were safe. Just as they said, as the pods opened, and depressurized, the occupants slowly morphed into different creatures. Leslie: I need to figure out a new lifestyle. This is too weird. As all but Loki left the lab, Leslie noticed one pod that was different than the others. The others were just large metal coffins with glass around them. This one was cushioned. And looked like it was very inviting, if not still a prison cell. Leslie read the name, and her eyes grew wide. She heard footsteps behind her. She acted as if she didn’t hear them, and slowly reached into her bag, and felt around for something. She felt a U.V. flashlight, and got ready to turn the light on. AJ, with his mysterious guest in the club. Aaron and his retro style fight in the junkyard. And Leslie and her stalker in the underground lab. A dark force was at work in the city. END CHAPTER 4. Chapter 5: Storms brewing. (Aaron) Aaron stood in the center of a junkyard brawl in the making. Five hooded figures stood, all five had daggers at their sides. Aaron grabbed his scythe, and jabbed the staff into the ground. Aaron: Look guys…it’s been while since I’ve taken my Vampirian suppressants. And I’m feeling a bit testy. So why dont we just wrap this up now, and have you guys just tell me who you’re working for. Otherwise, you five will find yourself impaled on this blade, and your boss there may be next. Dylan and the others laughed. The hooded figures charged. Aaron sighed. Aaron: Humans. They really never learn. Aaron picked grabbed the bottom of his scythe, and held it downwards like a hockey goalie. Suddenly, something from below the ground grabbed Aaron by the ankles and held him in place. Aaron: Damn, what the hell!? One of the hooded figures jumped in the air, and held its dagger downwards as it fell. Vampirian Regenerative ability or not, a blow like that to the skull would end him. Aaron used his staff to bat away the attacker. The other four were closing in, so Aaron took hi scythe blade, and plunged it into the ground. There wasn’t much resistance like there would be in bone. Aaron picked up on the vibration patterns from the blow from his scythe’s staff. Another figure was upon him. This one lunged forward, trying to pin Aaron to the ground, or crush him. Aaron, being the heaviest of the team, couldn’t jump as high without channeling his Vampirian powers. Using the attacker as a spring, Aaron leapt a few feet in the air. Thinking to himself… Aaron: This makes no sense. There should have been more resistance when I stabbed the ground. I know I hit something, because it held a little. But it’s as though it was just….collected dirt. Come to think about it...the guy I just jumped off felt kind of heavy. And the smell in this junk yard is strong, but not strong enough to cover up the smell of a human. And yet… Aaron grinned. As he fell, he swung his scythe downwards into one of the hooded figures’ backs. As the blade burst from the figures chest, soil flowed out rather than blood. The robe slowly fell to the ground. When Aaron moved the robe, there was a small mound of dirt. Aaron: I knew it. You’re an enchanter. Dylan: Very good my Vampirian victim, very good. You see, it was just a normal day and I just a normal person. Happily going about his worthless existence. When a stranger appeared. He gave me this ring and said that if I wanted to help him change the world and get rid of the evil in it, I’ll use the ring however he told me to. And that was to set the image of a popular nightclub. In order to cover something, much bigger. Although you’ll never figure out what that is, because I’m gonna kill you. Dylan snapped his fingers, and the pile of dirt in front of Aaron rose to up again. The creatures had no faces. The body formations were humanoid, with no features but hand and feet. A dagger formed out of some scrap that was in the ground when the creature was formed. Aaron inhaled then exhaled. A burst of air blew the creatures down again. Dylan snapped his fingers and they started to reform. Aaron began to realize; no matter how many times he killed and knocked them down, they would just get right back up thanks to the magic infused ring. Before the creatures could reform, Aaron rushed at the throne of scrap. Dylan didn’t seem surprised, in fact he seemed calm. As Aaron jumped at him to grab the ring, Dylan pulled out a crossbow, and fired it. The arrow struck Aaron in the left shoulder. Aaron still managed to grab the ring off of Dylan’s hand and crushed it. Dylan laughed. Dylan: You lose! That arrow was made of bamboo wood, and had a vile of garlic, silver, rosary, and holy water. YOU’RE DEAD! Aaron: Stupid human. Vampirians aren’t weak to that stuff. Whoever told you to use that against me wasn’t very bright. Dylan looked shocked. He dropped the crossbow and backed away from Aaron and the throne. Dylan: No….NO….NO! This can’t be beat you hear me? I. AM. A PARTY GOD! Aaron: Guess the party’s over. Aaron balled his fist, and hit Dylan in the jaw with an upper cut. His body went flying in the air. Form the corner of his eye, Aaron saw something move. He looked and saw something running towards him. In a puff of black smoke it disappeared and reappeared below Dylan’s body. The figure caught him, and then disappeared again. Aaron stood there, speechless. Aaron: Screw it. Don’t wanna know. I’ll just….head back to the warehouse. (Leslie) Loki was growling at something. The hair on his spine was standing up, and he looked like he was ready to jump. Leslie told him to be quiet. The footsteps slowed and were just a few feet behind her. She quickly pulled the U.V. light from her pack, and shined it on the figure. Smoke began to pour from the figure’s skin. ???: AH! B**ch turn it off! Leslie didn’t turn the light off, but shined it away from the figure. The figure was a girl around Leslie’s age, or looked it. Leslie was around seventy years old. The girl looked like a young adult. Leslie: And you are? Rebecca: Rebecca. I’m part of a team of Vampires sent from another city. Our city was- Leslie: Purified by SOLs? Rebecca: Exactly. And I think that’s what’s going to happen here. Leslie: Maybe. But it makes no since. Upshaw’s MO is normally to experiment on us to create an anti-Vampirian virus. Expelling the Vampires will only drive the Vampirians further into hiding… Rebecca: I don’t know. It’s nothing I can’t handle. Leslie: No. You will no longer be needed. Rebecca: Last I checked, your superiors were missing. Kidnapped. I don’t think you have much power here. Leslie looked down and was about to cry when a thought hit her. Leslie: Wait…how’d you…how’d you know they were kidnapped? We never reported that to the council. Rebecca suddenly looked concerned. She kicked one of the pods, sending glass flying in the air. Loki covered his head. Leslie stood firm. The glass bounced off her skin. She drew her weapon and threw one end into Rebecca’s shoulder. Leslie: Dumbass. Vampirian skin is strong enough to repel flimsy glass like this. Now then, I want to talk to you, Leslie pulled on the chain and drew Rebecca closer. Leslie: Who sent you!? Rebecca looked up and smiled. Rebecca: Guess you’ll have to find out later. If you remember me this time. Leslie: What? Just then a piercing pain shot through Leslie’s head. Rebecca grabbed the blade in her shoulder, and removed it. She held her shoulder, and backed away. Leslie looked up at the ceiling where Rebecca looked a few moments before. A figure in a black robe and black mask was hanging on the ceiling. The figure dropped down, and grabbed Rebecca. The figure jumped back up to the ceiling, and crawled through a vent in the ceiling. Leslie stood there, angered. Loki: Looks…like they got away…master. Leslie: Master? Loki: You freed me. Until my debt is repaid, I owe you my life. Leslie: Great. I have a giant fleabag for a pet. Loki: Hey… Leslie: Sorry. I just…screw it. Let’s go. Loki: Where? Leslie: Back to my warehouse…well….the team’s warehouse. (AJ) AJ looked down to the dance floor below. The music was skipping repeatedly. On the dance floor was a person in a purple robe. AJ looked at the DJ booth, picked up a chair, and threw at the booth. The music ended immediately. AJ: That was annoying. Now then, I don’t know who you are, but I’ve been waiting to try some fighting. ???: Wow. You’re a bit too much like your father…my boy. The figure removed her hood. It was a woman, who looked about in her twenties. AJ: Boy? You must have me confused with someone else lady. Woman: No. I recognize you anywhere. You have your father’s hair, and my eyes. AJ: Your eyes? And I severally doubt that. If you knew me, then you’d know it’s impossible for me to have your eyes. Now then, I believe I was about to kill you. Woman: No, please…listen to me, look here, you have it too. The woman pulled her robe collar down to where her heart was. There was a mark there in the shape of an ancient symbol AJ recognized from the book he had just looked in. He looked at his chest, and there it was. He had never noticed it until then. AJ: You are my mom. Woman: Yes I am. But…you seem different. AJ: Well, yeah. I’m a Vampirian….a full grown one at that. The woman’s face grew concerned. Woman: Then…it is too late to fully stop it. AJ: Stop what? Oh, my names AJ. The woman looked confused. Woman: No…your name is DJ, not AJ. AJ: I think I’d know my own name lady. Woman: I named you DJ after your father. But when I found out what he was, I had to change it, or the witches and warlocks would have killed you. AJ: My father? Who is he? Woman: That’s not important. What is important is that I give you this. The woman walked up the steps, and gave DJ a ring. Woman: This ring is very powerful. And one of a kind. You won’t be able to use it until the time is right. DJ: How will I know? Woman: Look for the crimson light, and you will know. DJ: Why’d you come here? Why now… Woman: To warn you. You must stay away from the others. DJ: Why? Woman: They will bring about the end of the world my son. DJ looked confused, but at the same time, a bit concerned. DJ: What…do you mean? Woman: DJ…let’s just say there’s an ancient evil that they will help bring about. I needed to tell you…before my life is ended. DJ looked at his mom, eyes wide. DJ: Ended? What do you mean? Mom I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I know if I can’t trust my friends, then I’ll need you. What’s going on…please…I’m so lost. DJ sat on a chair behind him, and cried into his hands. His mother sat in a chair across from him. Woman: I will explain what I can. You see…generations ago, I was kidnapped off the streets of London by a man, who back then was known as Jack the Ripper. However, he was known to the Witches, Warlocks and Vampirians as; Dr. Upshaw, the gene splicer. I was still a witch, which unfortunately he didn’t know. However…what I didn’t know is that while I was knocked out, he injected me with…Vampirian DNA. But…not from blood. That was the other test subject. One of us was to be injected with blood. The other was to give birth to a Halfling. Obviously, I was the one who gave birth to the Halfling. My friend…my sister was injected with the blood. The results were…not what were expected. He expected her to gain Vampirian powers. Instead her witch DNA and her foreign Vampirian blood rejected each other, and killed her from the inside out. I managed to escape, while he was tending to her bloodless corpse. And nine months later, you came into the world. But…there was a problem. Since your father had just recently been killed, it was easy for the SOLs and Vampirian council, who at the time was new, to track you down. As an infant, you weren’t able to contain your powers. I had no choice; I put a curse on you, by accelerating your warlock powers you got from me. The powers deteriorated, but sealed away your Vampirian powers. I put you up to a human family. And that’s how you were raised. But as a Vampirian, you don’t age normally. You figured out who you were on your own. And for the following years, you lived alone. The SOLs tracked you down, and attempted to kill you. You slaughtered them all, but it wasn’t without some sacrifice. Your powers weren’t fully developed because of you never feeding. So you were unconscious. I put your body in the graveyard. Hoping someone would find you and think that it was just a teenage party gone wrong. But I miscalculated, and you were taken away by the local Vampirians. With an increase in SOL activity, strange creatures, and transmutation summoning circles showing up around town, I knew something was wrong. I…I broke the code for witches and warlocks. I used time displacement magic to send my mind into the future. But for some reason…I couldn’t. I could only view a few days. I saw a monster, shrouded in black. Humans all over the world were turned into nightmarish creatures. Vampires were no more. Witches and warlocks were being sapped of their powers. Vampirians hunted down by the very humans they use to hunt. And you…no…I’ve said to much as it is. DJ was staring at the floor in disbelief. DJ: I…I…cause that? Woman: Indirectly…but yes. DJ: No…I won’t bring him back. Woman: It’s too late. Within a few hours, a figure of evil will send his three captured victims to find you. They will be soundly defeated. Upon finding this out, this figure will summon five demons, five fallen angels from the realm beyond, who will possess the bodies of five willing beings. Listen carefully. You mustn’t- Just then, an explosion took out the front door of the club. Shards of ice, orbs of flame, and various elemental magical attacks flew out of the dust. DJ’s mother stood up, and shouted a spell. A barrier formed around the two of them. Woman: Run DJ. Find someplace to hide. Do not go to your friends. DJ: Mom wait, I can help you fight. I can help you live. Woman: No…they will track me down no matter what. Besides, I’m one-thousand, nine hundred and seventy seven years old. I think I’ve lived long enough. DJ’s mother gave him a comforting smile, and chanted: Woman: Mittite hunc in locum tutum. (Send this boy to a place of safety) DJ began to float in the air. He reached out towards his mother. In a flash of light, he was gone. Woman: Now then: Potens fons magiae intra. Exstruendam atque efferent. Ignire aeris in ardentes flammas! (A powerful source of magic lies within. Build it up. Bring it out. Ignite the air into burning flames.) DJ’s mother’s skin began to glow red. A searing pain raced throughout her body. She smiled as a tear rolled down her face. Woman: Good-bye my son. Please…be safe. As the last words were said, the air in and around the club burst into flames. Meanwhile, Aaron had made it back to the emergency warehouse. He heard heavy footsteps coming from the back door. Leslie walked in, with a large wolf creature behind her. Leslie introduced the wolf as a product of Dr. Upshaw’s experiments. They were just getting ready to go look for DJ, when a high pitched sound caught Loki’s attention. He looked into the air and growled. A flash of purple blinded caused everyone to look away. When the light faded, DJ was lying face down on the ground. Leslie rushed to pick him up. Aaron noticed a book that had appeared with DJ. He picked it up and was looking through it. It was a warlock tome of events. Updating through every major event. DJ staggered to his feet, and ran outside. Everyone followed him outside but stopped. In the distance, a large explosion, followed by a column of flames danced into the sky. DJ dropped to his knees, and screamed in anger into the starless night sky. END Chapter 5. Chapter 6: “The pawns go first in chess” DJ sat in the corner of the warehouse alone. He had explained to the others his real name and his mother. But neglected to tell them about her premonition. Leslie had fallen asleep. Aaron was throwing popcorn into the air, while Loki parkored from the warehouse beams to catch the popcorn. Aaron: I have an idea. We go to the council. DJ and Leslie both shook from their trances and looked at Aaron. DJ: No…we uh…can’t do that. Leslie: Actually that could help. Aaron and Leslie exchanged smiles, and nodded. DJ got up and gave a fake concerned smile. Loki just sat down, and scratched his ear with his back paw. Aaron: Ugh…we need to get him flea dip or something. Loki: Shut up it’s not my fault. Aaron grabbed his scythe, and led everyone out of the warehouse. There was a mansion up on a mountain to the north of town that was reportedly abandoned. As it was part of the towns founding, it was considered a historic building, and couldn’t be touched. The perfect place for a lair for Vampirians. At the top of the hill, an old rusted gate separated anyone from entering the premises. They all jumped the fence. Aaron walked up to the door, and knocked five times. The doors didn’t open. The ground beneath them opened and they all fell down a long tunnel. They all landed on the ground of an underground complex. Aaron: DJ, Loki. Welcome; to the council building. DJ and Loki looked around. The landing sight looked like an airplane hangar. From there, there was a large cave. And in the middle of it, a mansion, similar to the one above ground. Although this one was five stories tall, and seemed populated. DJ and Loki and noticed that Leslie and Aaron had continued walking towards the building. As they approached the entrance, several Vampires and Vampirians were beginning to gather outside of the building. Loki’s ears suddenly flicked. He jumped up in the air above Aaron and Leslie, opened his massive jaws, and brought them down on something. When he landed, he looked back, and had a girl in his jaw. Leslie: Drop her. Wow Eden, you’re almost sneaky enough to be a white rabbit in a forest during the summer. Eden: Whatever. Call your pet off. Loki dropped the girl, and continued on with the others. Eden and the other Vampires and Vampirians followed behind them. They approached two large doors. Aaron: Ok you two, beyond this door is the council room. A collection of Vampires and Vampirians. More importantly, is the High Council; a group of Vampirian Overlords. Leslie: How’d you know the High Council was here? Aaron seemed to brush the question off. He pushed on the doors, which made low creaking sounds as they opened. The four, plus the growing mass of Vampires and Vampirians walked in. There was a large, circular room. In the center were three chairs. There were thousands of seats in the room, raising in height every row. The seats were packed full of people. Aaron motioned for Leslie and the others to take their seats, the three that were in the center of the room. They did so, and were a bit confused when Aaron walked up, and took a seat amongst the Overlords. Overlord one: That’s enough, all of you! The room’s different conversations died down. Overlord one: Now then; the overlords present introduce yourselves to this meeting today. Esther: Overlord Esther. Lord of New York City, USA. Gage: Overlord Gage. Lord of Dallas, Texas, USA. Aaron: Overlord Aaron. Lord of Shadow City and surrounding provinces, USA. Berg: Overlord Berg. Lord of Russia. Nikko: Overlord Nikko. Lord of Japan. Now then…where are John and Alex? Aaron: John has been marked as kidnapped or dead. Alex’s whereabouts are unknown. Berg: Now then, to business. We have all noticed a growing number of Witches, Warlocks, and SOLs in this city as of late. As well as the strange creatures appearing around the world. In Russia, there have been hundreds of summoning circles appearing. All of these events have been traced back here. Now the old lord of this area was able to keep order. Apparently his Fledgling wasn’t able to live up to the name. Aaron sat there, his eyes closed. Nikko: Leave him alone. With his team disappearing, he does what he can. More importantly- Aaron: Excuse me, but I have something to say that’ll answer everyone’s questions as to what’s going on and will bring up hundreds of more. That boy there…is DJ. A boy we found while taking care of a group of SOLs. That boy…is Draco Juno. He is known in the ancient text of summoning the dead, and the ultimate trigger. That is the son of Draco. Born of resurrected DNA and Lunora, the ancient witch of legend. The crowd grew anxious. A fireball flew from the crowd, and nearly struck DJ. Loki batted it away with his paws. Gage: We should kill him, while we have the chance. Before Draco is revived. Eden: Killing him. We should give him to the SOLs. I’m sure they’d like to dissect him. Aaron: Either of you touch him aside from how I tell you I’ll rip both of your throats out. Everyone in the room got silent and looked at Aaron. Aaron: Both of your ideas lead us to death. Allow me to recite Draco’s final words: “Although you may banish my soul. Burn my body, and drain my blood. I shall return. My kin shall be born amongst future generations. And upon his eighteenth anniversary, I shall be reborn.” Those were his exact words. Now then…if we kill this boy now…what would we accomplish? Becoming like the SOLs? No, that’ll accomplish nothing. Hand him over to the SOLs? The SOLs are the ones causing this. They wish to bring back Draco, in hopes that he will share our weaknesses with them. We all know he shall do no such thing. My plan is this; we secure this boy until the world is no longer in danger. Killing Dr. Upshaw will solve this problem. The room was dead silent. In a split second, the piercing silence, turned into deafening roaring anger. An explosion shook the room. A man ran into the room. Man: High council, we’re under attack! The man’s nose began to bleed. From his eyes, ears, nose and mouth, the man began to bleed. Blood sudden burst out, and he dropped to the ground. Aaron jumped down to the center of the room. Aaron, DJ, Leslie and Loki ran out of the large council room doors. Just as they left, the doorway collapsed. On the council room side… Vampirian: I can’t….budge the rocks…I feel…so weak. Vampire: I can’t breathe. Nikko: Silence. All of you…listen…the vents are no longer flowing with air…I need you all to be silent. Nikko began to concentrate. On the other side… Aaron: Smell that? Obsidian and garlic extract. It’s weak… Loki’s ears perked up. Loki: Master, I sense something. Aaron: Good. Loki: Fatass Vampirian is not my master. You didn’t help me escape. Leslie: Shhhh. Listen. The halls of the mansion were quiet. Three Vampires ran by. One continued running down the hall. One stopped and began asking Aaron and the others for help. The third had turned around, and was frantically looking around. A puff of black smoke appeared down the hall where the third Vampire had gone. There was a loud crunching sound. The Vampire that had turned around screamed in fear. She turned to run when a sword flew from the hallway she was looking down, and impaled her. The third Vampire was crying now. Something dropped from the roof. Landing on the Vampire, and evidently breaking its neck upon impact. Aaron: Leslie…that sword… Leslie: It’s a Gem Sword… Loki: Gem sword? Aaron: Every know type of gem, turned into a powder form, and compressed and super-heated to solidify them. And a diamond exterior. Loki: Sounds impossible. Leslie: Yeah. It was. Until one person managed to do it. Aaron: And there’s only one Vampirian I know who can teleport… A large figure with a claymore walked into view. In his hand, he held one of the Vampires head in his hand (the head was still connected to the body.) The figure threw the body onto the other two. The figure that had fallen from the ceiling got up. And another person appeared from where the sword was thrown. It grabbed the sword, and pulled it out of the corpse, wiping the blood off before sheathing them. All three figures were wearing black robes and mask with strange markings. Again, Loki’s ears perked. Woman: Looks like our little fledglings grown up. And he’s found himself a new mommy and daddy. Suiting, since his real mother went up in flames. DJ clutched his fist around his sword and drew it. The largest of the three assailants moved to protect the woman. The woman drew two Sais. The smallest of the three drew his swords. Aaron grabbed his scythe from its strap and placed the staff across the back of his neck, the blade lying next to his neck. Leslie grabbed her chain scythe from her waist. The figures each removed their mask. Kiley: Well look at that. The Fledglings think they can take us. I knew you were stupid Aaron, but leading your team to a slaughter is a new low level for you. Aaron: I’ll fight John. Either of you fight him, you’ll die. Leslie: I’ll fight Kiley. Our fighting styles are similar. DJ: Skyler and I are the youngest technically. Loki suddenly heard a voice in his head. Nikko: Loki? The werewolf? Very well, listen to me. This room is filling with Obsidian and garlic dust. It’s killing everyone in this room. There is a room that only the air vents in this room lead to. Please…find…it. Loki: Master, I must save the people in that room. Leslie: Go ahead. We’ll deal with them. Loki sniffed he air, and ran off past everyone. Kiley and the others just let him go. The two groups slowly walked closer to each other. Meanwhile, in the council room. Nikko: Well then. It appears the games begun… Esther: Game sir? Nikko: The game of chess, between us and the SOLs. And as you know…in chess…pawns go first. End Chapter 6. Chapter 7: Battle in the mansion. (DJ V.S. Skyler) The groups stood a few feet from each other. Everyone was quiet, trying to put their minds into their opponent’s. Draco thirsted for battle. He gripped his sword tightly, watching Skyler’s hands tighten around his words too. A single movement by Draco; began the fight. Draco and Skyler were the fastest of the team. Draco swung his sword, and collided with Skyler’s swords. Skyler brought up his knee to strike Draco. Draco brought his free hand down and blocked Skyler’s knee. The mansion and bodies lying around it blurred, as the two sped down the hallway. Swords clashed, and were parried. A group of Wounded Vampirians saw a blur of colors fly by them, as Draco and Skyler battled. Having two swords, Skyler had an advantage. He used one sword to stab at Draco. Draco dodged it, and used the opening to bring his sword down. Using his other sword, Skyler blocked it. Draco swung his sword with all his might, which threw him off balance, and slowed the running battle down. Skyler had no time to counter. He merely blocked. The impact sent him into the wall. Skyler lay, back down on the floor, and was using his swords to stand. Draco walked through the hole in the wall and looked at Skyler. A strange feeling accompanied by a voice in his head distracted him. Voice: Do it…kill him. End his pathetic life. You are a Dark Lord. You have the power. The duty, to put weaklings in their place. Draco felt an evil power pulling him. He grabbed his sword and stood above Skyler, sword in hand. A single stab downward and Draco would be victorious. Before he could… Skyler: Officium meum est ad finem. Tolle tenebris est intra. Afferte Rex Darklings retro ab inferis. (My role is at an end. Take the darkness from with. Bring the King of Daklings back from the dead.) Skyler withered about. His skin looked like something was crawling beneath it. A thick black cloud of smoke emerged from Skyler’s nose and mouth. It faded away, until there was nothing left. Draco: That…was weird. Skyler stood up slowly, and used his hands to draw a question mark in the air. Draco: Oh right you don’t talk. Um, you were possessed by something. You, John, and Kiley. I rescued you. Leslies fighting Kiley. And Aarons- An explosion shook the building violently. Draco: Right there…let’s go. (Leslie V.S. Kiley) Skyler and Draco took off down the hallway to the right, running to fast to be seen as anything other than blurs. Kiley lunged forward with her Sais. Leslie put the chain of her chain scythe up, and caught the tips of the Sais in the holes of the chain. She twisted her hands around each other, and sealed the Sais in the chain until she let go. Kiley: Impressive. You’ve learned some tricks. Let’s see how you are at Zero gravity though. Kiley jumped in the air, taking Leslie with her. Where Draco and Skyler were the speed demons of the group, Leslie and Kiley’s powers to defy gravity were the strongest of the group (although Leslie didn’t or rarely used hers, as she preferred to stay on the ground.) the mountain had been carved out inside. Aside from the mansion, the mountain was hollow. A wall of rock half the length of a football field in thickness stood between the outside world and the mansion. The mountain was fifteen thousand, eight hundred and forty feet tall (three miles high.) More than half of that was hollowed out. The area where Leslie and Kiley were fighting was an entrance shaft, once used to lower the supplies into. At the top, was nothing but stone, used to seal the opening so that no humans could enter. The two were jumping from wall to wall. Their weapons had since been disconnected. Kiley: And when did you get so good at this? Leslie: Just now! Leslie held her weapon in the center chain, and spun them in a circle in front of her. The blades made a slight whistling sound as they cut through the air. The two were clung to opposite sides of the wall. Kiley: Leslie…dear sister. This is sad. You think you honestly stand a chance here. But you don’t. You’re weak. Even when we were alive, I was mother’s favorite. Aaron would Agree with me. But wait, you never told him we were sisters. And that, that is the reason me and John showed up that day in the hospital. Kiley was standing upright now, walking along the sides of the shaft. Leslie tried to stand up, but nearly fell from the wall. Kiley: Look at that. You can’t even stand without losing your balance. You’re weak. WEAK. That’s the reason I was mother’s favorite. You never had the backbone to do what needed to be done. Again…you…are…WEAK. But what do you expect, when you’re the Fledgling of a weak Overlord. Kiley was standing directly in front of Leslie now. Kiley put her hand out into the chain of the chain scythe, causing it to wrap around her hand. Leslie was looking down. Leslie: What did you say? Kiley: You heard exactly what I said. He. Is. We- Leslie spun around, tossing her sister to the side of the shaft. The chain unwrapped from Kiley’s hand. Leslie wrapped one end of the chain scythe around her sister’s hand. She began to concentrate. She slowly floated away from the wall, pulling her sister with her. Kiley: That’s, not possible. A full levitation…in midair, this high up? Leslie spun the chain and her sister around in circles against the walls of the shaft. Finally she brought her sister close. Leslie: Don’t ever. Leslie undid her sister’s restraint, and brought her fist down onto her sister’s head. Kiley fell down the shaft, Leslie following right behind her. Leslie threw her weapon. Causing it to wrap around here sister to prevent her from using her arms. Leslie: Call him. The ground was quickly approaching. Leslie spun herself around, so she was now falling feet first. Kiley slammed into the ground below. Leslie landed on top of her sister’s torso, feet first. A cloud of dust and debris erupted from the ground as she impacted. Leslie: Weak. Kiley: Officium meum est ad finem. Tolle tenebris est intra. Afferte Rex Darklings retro ab inferis. (My role is at an end. Take the darkness from with. Bring the King of Daklings back from the dead.) Kiley withered about under Leslie’s foot. When she stopped, a thick cloud of black smoke emerged from her mouth and nose. It faded away, into nothingness. Leslie looked around. There were cut marks around the area. Aaron and John nowhere to be found. Suddenly, an explosion from nearby shook the whole building. Leslie: Found them. (Aaron V.S. John) Skyler and Draco had run off down a hallway. Leslie and Kiley had taken their fight to the hollow shaft of an old supply entrance above. Now, Jamie and Aaron stood, alone. John: You’re a fool for trying to fight me boy. I’ve been a Vampirian longer than you. I have more control of the powers within. Aaron: Maybe so, but my Sire was more powerful of the Shadow bothers. His powers are mine to control. John: It’ll be hard to control them as a headless corpse. The tension in the area was rising. John gripped his claymore tightly. Aaron gripped the staff of his scythe, ready to counter the attack from John. Something moved beneath Aaron’s feet. He lifted his foot to see a small pebble, a piece of a nearby wall that had been shaken loose from the attack, trying to move towards John. Aaron followed the pebble, and his gaze met with a group of small, but sharp pebbles, all floating above his head. Aaron: Coward. Aaron put his scythe above his head, and spun it around in circles. The pebbles came down, and were turned to dust as they struck the rapidly spinning blade and staff. Aaron stopped spinning, and dropped his scythe, just in time to parry a swipe by John. John: A fluke. The next one will end you for sure. Aaron wasn’t going to wait for a “next one”. He planted his staff in the ground, and used it to pull fault himself into John. His impact sent John back a few feet. But otherwise, caused no physically, or noticeable damage. John: Yes…that counter was something. You have beaten me. Oh…wait…no you haven’t. You just made me laugh. If this is the power your sire left you, this’ll be easier than I thought. John Disappeared, and reappeared in a puff of black smoke behind Aaron, and swung his blade. Aaron’s staff blocked it, without trying. Aaron: If you’re trying to kill me…you kind of suck at it. I didn’t even see you. You could have ended me there. But you keep hitting my staff. Any reason why? John: Without a weapon, you’re useless. You have these great powers, and yet you refuse to use them. You’re a disgrace to Vampirians, and even to Vampires. Vampires can’t be out in the sun, yet they even use their powers in bright daylight. Aaron: That’s because, unlike you, my powers are too great to use against anyone that’s not…a Vampirian. John: Ha. Your powers? Don’t you mean your Sire’s powers? If it wasn’t for him, you’d be six feet in the ground. Or more realistically, you’d have been burned to ashes, and dumped into a cat box. John’s words were true. But Aaron brushed it off. He jumped at John, and began swinging his scythe wildly. John, as if seeing the strikes before they happened, simply moved out of the way of each strike. Aaron changed his attack, and swung the back end of the scythe, the blade facing away from John. This time he made contact. John was pushed back. Aaron drove the end of the staff into the ground, and jumped at John, attempting to kick him, and knock him off balance. John grabbed Aaron’s left ankle and squeezed it. There was aloud crunching sound. John slammed Aaron against the wall several times, then into the ground, and kicked him. Aaron flew several feet, and hit another wall. John: Even for a Vampirian, that looked like it hurt. How’s it feel? Hmm? That numbing feeling in your ankle, chest and back? That’s called pain. It takes a lot of it for a Vampirian to notice. Aaron Staggered to his feet. He kept his left leg off the ground, and used the wall as a balance. John’s eyes flashed. The large doors to the hanger came off their hinges, and slammed into the wall Aaron was on, pinning him behind them John: Now; I’m going to kill you. And then hunt down your friends. Aaron pushed the doors off of him, and fell to the ground. He could feel the bones in his ankle, as well as his spine and ribs, begging to heal. He stood up and watched John. John’s eyes flashed. Aaron managed to jump out of the way, as the doors slammed into the wall again. John finally turned around to see Aaron on the ground. Aaron had a smirk on his face. Aaron: Got ya. John laughed as his eyes flashed. The doors split apart into tiny daggers. They line up, dead center to Aaron’s head. Aaron’s leg was healed and no longer broken, allowing him to quickly get behind John. The wood daggers launched at the spot Aaron had just been. Aaron’s scythe was stuck in the wall he had been slammed into, so he had no choice but to use his claws. He scratched at the back of John’s legs, leaving large cuts. Blood trickled down John’s leg. A small speck of John’s blood had gotten onto Aaron’s hand. John kicked Aaron back into the wall. Jamie lowered his sword. John: This has gotten boring. Let’s just end it. John jabbed the sword forward but suddenly stopped. His arm shook, and shocked look across his face. John: What….what’s going on? Aaron: Bloodflow. A beginner level ability, most grow out of using. I got a drop of your blood on my hand. The rest was Vampirian understand of blood. If you look…there’s a small trail of blood down both your arms and legs. With those there, I can stop your movements, long enough to do this. Aaron stood up, and placed his hand on John’s right shoulder. A spear of blood shot through John’s shoulder. John fell to the ground, unable to move. Leslie and Kiley dropped from the shaft above where Aaron and John were. Draco and Skyler ran up to the scene. John: Officium meum est ad finem. Tolle tenebris est intra. Afferte Rex Darklings retro ab inferis. (My role is at an end. Take the darkness from with. Bring the King of Daklings back from the dead.) A thick black cloud emerged from John’s eyes, and floated in the Aaron. Aaron walked over, and picked up his scythe. Two more black clouds appeared, and fused with the one from John. The cloud formed a sphere, and hardened into a ball. It floated over to Draco. Something popped out the side of the orb. Kiley: It…looks like a handle. Draco grabbed it, and pulled. The sphere’s shape shifted into a sword. John: That’s the sword that was used to kill Draco. I recognize it from the text books on him. Aaron: Then it is true. You really are his son. Suddenly, the debris that had been blocking the doorway to the council chamber, exploded. Vampires and Vampirians poured out of the room. Loki ran up from the opposite way, cuts all across his body. Loki: There were….golems. Protecting a large stone in the council room’s main ventilation room. Aaron: Ventilation room? What do you….never mind. What now? If Upshaw can use hypnotic powers on Vampirians, then we won’t last much longer as a race. Kiley: What? Upshaw isn’t the one who did that…directly. We were taken to the park in the center of town. He chained us there and left us. After a while the feeling of needing to find Draco just…sunk in. Nikko: That Park is what remains of the field that where we confronted and defeated Draco the first time. Aaron: Then that’s it. Just then, a small Vampire ran up to the Councilmen. She had something in her hand. Girl: Mister and Misses Council, um…look. The girl held up a small screen. On it was Dr. Upshaw in the Park, just as Kiley had told them. Only in the corner of the screen it said: Live stream. Aaron: This is happening now? Dr. Upshaw on screen: Hello my pathetic foes. I see you’ve met my latest victim. I’ve let her live so that she may bring the device to you. I want you all to witness the beginning, of the end. I’d like you to meet my friends. The camera zoomed out, revealing a large pentagram (Five point stars) burnt into the ground. Dr. Upshaw on screen: Now, to the lower left, we have a young Vampire, who is looking to better her life. Meet Ms. Rebecca. Leslie: That’s the girl that tried to kill me down in Upshaw’s lab. Dr. Upshaw on screen: And to the top of the symbol, we have her other half, another Vampire named Brandon. The lower right has a friend of mine, and past test subject; Jordan. Over here, another test subject of mine, Aslan. And finally, a personal favorite of mine. An old flame. And the reason I had her bring you this screen. Young Draco, please look at the screen now. For, our last sacrifice…is your very own mother. Draco grabbed the screen and stared at it. Draco: Mom? Dr. Upshaw on screen: Now then, I hope you’re all watching. Because this will forever be known as the moment, you all witnessed the beginning of the end of the world. Quinque animas stare ante porta ad in fernum. Afferquarta quinque daemon dominorum. Guardiani Tenebrosum porta Afferte quartus animas corum et tollect haec corpora tanquam propial! (Five souls stand before the gateway to hell. Bring fourth, the five demon lords. Bring fourth the guardians of the Dark portal. Bring fourth their souls, and take these bodies for their own!) The camera began to pick up static, but the picture remained. In the center of the star, a black vortex began to form. Five black shadows emerged from the vortex. Demon lord 1: You fool; you’ve brought darkness and death to your world. Very well. Demon lord 2: This world is so bright and cheerful. We will change that. Demon lord 3 (girl): Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Finally! A NEW WORLD TO BURN! Demon lord 4: We’re here to serve the one who freed us. Demon lord 5 (girl): All of you grab a body. The shadows each flew into a body. A black aura formed around each other the bodies. The camera’s image froze. When it started up again, the sacrifices were gone. Upshaw grabbed the camera. Dr. Upshaw: You see? This is what happens, when you’ve lived for so many years. You lose your freaking mind! Now then, if you want to save your, pathetic existence, you’ll have to hunt them down. With those five in the real world, their evil will seep into the world. And once there’s enough, Dracula, will…be revived. And on that day…Vampire and Vampirian kind….will cease to exist. Upshaw dropped the camera. The camera could see that he was lying in the grass, laughing maniacally. End chapter 7 Chapter 8: A five keyed lock. The demons that had been summoned were running rampant throughout the city. Every news crew in town was catching footage of one of the demons, or something they’d destroyed. Aaron: The demons seem to be based, on the five dark sides of humanity. Contritio; to destroy. Flamma; to burn. Alea Ludo; to gamble with life. Apparatus; to use machines for destructive means…and Manus interitum; to use their hands to spread darkness. Loki: Master. Someone’s outside. Loki walked over to the back door and touched it. There was a quiet sizzle sound. Loki: It’s so hot. The door…someone’s trying to burn it down. Kiley: That’d be John: Kiley, that’s a bit harsh. Kiley: No. It has to be done by him. If anyone else does it, he may hold onto the idea that she is still alive. He himself must end her existence. She only survived that explosion because of Dr. Upshaw. He was there, and pulled her out of the flames so she didn’t burn completely to death. He used Vampire blood to heal her burnt skin. She mustn’t be allowed to live. There is no known way to exercise a demon from a mortal host. A Vampirian can simply burn them out by torching their body. Your mother is a witch who drains others of their life forces to stay young. She has the power to gamble with life. She can give or take life at will. That is too much power for anyone to have that is mortal. Especially someone with magical abilities. Everyone looked at Draco. Draco’s eyes were watering. He gripped his new sword and nodded. Suddenly the door fell to the ground. Rebecca stood there, and aura of flames around her. Her eyes were black as a starless night sky. Kiley: Get going, now! Everyone took off through the back door of the building. Rebecca snarled. Rebecca: Aw, I get the oldest of the group? That’s too bad. Oh well. Once you’re nothing but ashes, I’ll track down your boyfriend and your friends too. Kiley was no longer in front of Rebecca. Rebecca looked around, confused. Kiley reappeared behind Rebecca, and stabbed her Sais into her back. Kiley: Try to hurt my family, and I’ll torch you. The Sais melted away. Rebecca turned around. Rebecca: Oh? And how do you plan to do that? Kiley looked concerned. She could feel a breeze coming from the open door. She saw the midnight Sky and got an idea. She turned and ran outside. Rebecca laughed, as flames began to engulf the interior of the warehouse. Kiley: Damn it! That’s the second base tonight! Rebecca: Trust me dear, where you and your friends are going, you won’t be needing buildings. Kiley glared at Rebecca as she exited the burning building. Kiley disappeared, and reappeared behind Rebecca. Rebecca: You shouldn’t be able to do that! Kiley: I’ve been watching John. I learned this next one from my little sister. Kiley grabbed Rebecca and floated upwards into the night sky. Kiley kept climbing in altitude. Rebecca tried to start a flame, but couldn’t. Kiley: You see; My Vampirian healing powers keep regenerating my lungs. I can breathe up here. But, with so little Oxygen, and nothing to burn, you can’t start a flame. Let alone breathe. Kiley could hear Rebecca gasping for air. She finally stopped flying, and brought Rebecca up to her height. Kiley: Like I said; stay away from my family. Kiley let go of Rebecca’s shirt, and watched her fall to the surface. By the time Kiley made it to the ground, Rebecca was dead. Kiley: Anyone else just kill a demon? John: I did. Trapped Jordan in that hospital outside of town. Brought it down, right on top of him. Skyler: Yeah. I found him in a Best Buy in town. He was having a bit of fun. Kiley: Aaron? Leslie? Draco? Draco had tracked his mom to a casino in town. Being possessed by a spirit that gambles life away, it was the best place to do so. As Draco approached, the casino was bustling with life. Mainly; people running out of the building. Draco stood in front of the casino, gripping his sword. Shaking with fear, he slowly entered the building. Inside, he saw his mother on a black jack table. She was holding a guy in midair. A purple aura surrounding her hand and the man floating. Alea: Do it. Pick a card. I can give you anything, and everything your heart wants. Money, power, women…ultimate control over life and death. One of these two cards will give you Black Jack. The other…not so much. The man pointed to a card. The two cards behind him were a nine, and a ten. A two was all he needed. When the card revealed itself to be a three, the man fell to the ground. He grabbed his throat, as if something were choking him. His body shriveled away, until nothing but a husk remained. Alea looked over and saw Draco. A smile slow formed. Alea: My son. How good to see you. Want to play a game? Draco: No. Mom...why are you doing this? Alea: Well, it’s quiet simple. Life’s boring. With a bit of uncertainty, you can die and be happy. No unhappy afterlife memories of bad choices. They merely remember that they made the wrong choice. Doesn’t that sound better? Draco: No. Death should be a mystery. You shouldn’t know when it’s coming. Mom you’re playing with a power you can’t comprehend. Please mom…just walk away from here. Alea frowned and said a quick chant. A bolt of lightning struck Draco’s heart. And her own. Alea: There. Now, let the game begin. It’s a game of chance. If you don’t play. You die. If you lose, you die. Pick; odds or evens. Draco: No…I just realized…you aren’t my mother. Alea dropped the connection between herself and Draco. Alea: What do you mean? Of course I am my son. Draco: No. My mother’s dead. You’re nothing but a puppet. You’re a demon, summoned in the hopes of bringing my father back to the real world. Draco drew his sword. He approached his mother, and impaled her through the chest. Draco: My mother gave her life, to ensure mine. And I’m not going to let her death be in vain. Draco’s mother dropped to the ground. Draco: Kiley…Aleas taken care of. Kiley: I’m sorry Draco. Draco: Don’t be. She wasn’t my mother. My mother died in that explosion. Kiley: That just leaves… Meanwhile, Aaron and Leslie were finishing things up with their demon. They had him chained around a pole with Leslie’s chain scythe. Aaron stood in front of him. Ready to deliver the final blow… Brandon: Wait…will killing m really be worth the end of every living and undead creature in existence? Aaron: What’re you talking about? I’m not stupid. You being here will draw Draco out of his dimensional prison. Brandon: No you fool. Draco was killed in multiple ways. His body burned to ashes. His soul banished. And his mind’s evil intensions were pulled apart, and sealed within five dead bodies, that were placed at the tips of a pentagram seal. Those were us. The five demons; of human’s dark ways. We weren’t created as his helpers. We were created as his seals guardians. We went made protecting his seal after all these years. Each of us falling victim to our own darkness. With our deaths, Draco’s darkness will be made whole again. That whacked out Doctor who summoned us has already drawn the circle. All he needs is some flesh and some blood of Dracula, and he one will return. You’ve all fallen into his trap. Only someone of equal blood can defeat him. Aaron and Leslie exchanged looks. Leslie: Then…we won’t kill you; we’ll keep you in confinement. Suddenly, a wooden stake pierced through the back of Brandon’s chest. As the life drained from His eyes, his body turned black as soot. Meanwhile, Kiley, John, Loki, And Skyler, all noticed that the demon bodies were turning to soot. Shadows emerged from the bodies and traveled towards the field they had been summoned from. A sense of danger began to form. Everyone raced toward the field. When they arrived, Dr. Upshaw was nowhere to be seen. As they approached the circle, Dr. Upshaw jumped from the shadows, and cut Draco’s arm. Upshaw ran into the middle of the circle. Dr. Upshaw: This is the beginning of the end you fools. Those weren’t the bringers of destruction. I was. With their deaths. The blood of Dracula’s son. And my sacrifice, Dracula shall be born again, and the age of Vampirians will be erased! Kiley: Your plan to rid the world of Vampirians is to bring back the king? You’re delusional. Dr. Upshaw: Oh no. Like any king would no…like any first of anything would do…he would be sickened by the sight of you Vampirians. He’ll want to sanitize the world of your filth. Natus ex Mali scriptor odia, et inferni ignis est, cor tenebrosum eius est porta. prosilirent habet desiderium ad finiendum mortalium. (Born of Evil's hate, and hell's fire, a dark heart is his portal. full of hate, he has one desire: TO BRING AN END TO ALL THINGS MORTAL) With that, Dr. Upshaw dropped the blade. It stuck point down into the center of the circle. He pulled out another knife, and cut his own throat. As the blood touched the circle, black sparks began to dance outwards from the blade. The circle began to spin. The star turning clockwise, the circle around it, counter clockwise. The circle and star began to shrink. When it was small enough to barely form around the knife, it stopped. Everyone slowly approached the circle, when it shot teen feet into the air. The air began to flow towards the circle. Loki’s ears flickered around violently. As he tried to ignore something he couldn’t. Then it became low enough to be heard by the others. A laughing. Maniacal. Insane. Evil. The circle was gone, and had been replaced by a black spiraling vortex. The vortex grew in size. Loki fell to the ground, covering his ears. A hand sprouted from the vortex. The hand began to stretch into the air until it formed an arm. Then a shoulder. A head. Torso and second arm. Legs and feet. Everyone stood. Unable to move. The vortex had closed. Everything was silent. Only the sound of large wings flapping could be heard. The wings belonging to the figure that had appeared from the vortex. The figure was seven and a half feet tall. Silver hair. Blackened eyes, with red pupils. A black suit, white under shirt, and red tie. In its hands it held a six foot long, black katana with a red liquid coursing through it. Its wings were seven feet long, with large talons at the ends of them. Dracula: Mmmmm. The sweet smell of Earth. Although, it smells…different. I know…the smell of blood and rotting corpses isn’t in the air. Dracula turned around to face the group. His fangs exposed. He held his blade skyward. A bolt of black lightening jumped around the blade and burst into the sky. Black clouds formed overhead. Black lightening danced across the clouds and thunder boomed. Dracula waved his sword at the group. Sending a blast of air, knocking everyone down. Dracula: I can fix that quickly. Oh…hello Draco. Or do you prefer…son? End chapter 8. Chapter 9: The final fight begins. Draco drew his sword. His father looked at it, a hint of fear in his eyes and voice as he spoke. Dracula: That cursed blade has survived the years? Draco: Yeah. Your evil influence brought it back to the world father. You used a dark form of your powers to control the minds of my friends. You neglected however, to root the evilness in their brains like the demons did. When they felt they were going to die, the dark shadows fled their bodies and formed this sword when they were all defeated. Dracula smiled. Dracula: Then all is well. Those were not specters my dear boy. Those were memories. With my mind split apart, some of my memories escaped in the form of darkened clouds such as the ones you described. They dissipated as the seal that bound my soul to the half world weakened. What you hold is nothing but a cheep knock off of the blade that truly slayed me. Now then…wait…where did your little friend go? Draco looked around him. The others were all missing. Leslie: Look behind you. Holding on to the middle of her weapon, Leslie threw the two bladed ends of her weapons at Dracula. They pierced his shoulders. Leslie brought Dracula closer to her. She slammed him against the ground and moved. John and Kiley appeared above him. John threw his blade at Dracula, sending it through his chest. Kiley merely fell on top of the blade, sending it through Dracula’s body. Skyler stabbed his swords through the palms of Dracula’s hands. And Loki held Dracula’s feet. Aaron walked up to Dracula, who merely smiled back at him. Aaron drew his scythe, and brought the blade down onto Dracula’s neck. The blade hit the skin, but it stopped. Aaron tried to force it through, but it would not budge. Dracula let out a hearty laugh Dracula: Son…if these are the people you’ve let train you, your far too weak to be of any use. Dracula stood up. His skin began to heal. Leslie, John, and Skyler’s blades were forced out of Dracula’s body. They all picked up their weapons, and readied themselves. Dracula: Let me show you what true power is, you whelps. Dracula’s body began to look blurred as he drew his sword. Skyler realized what he was doing and tried to warn everyone, but it was too late. They had all been standing in a group. Dracula appeared in front of them, moving faster than their eyes could see. He swung his sword, hitting everyone but Draco, and cutting them all deeply. Aaron tried to stand but couldn’t. He felt weak. As did everyone else. Their powers were failing them. Draco: Guys, my father’s sword is obsidian. None of you will be able to fight him. I’ll have to do it. Kiley: But Draco, he can fly. You’ll never be able to match his speed. Draco: He isn’t the only one who can fly. The back of Draco’s shirt began to move. Blood red wings suddenly burst from his back. They were identical to Dracula’s minus the coloration. The wings began to flap, and Draco began to float in the air like his father. Dracula: Well, this is a surprise. I thought with your mother’s witch DNA in you, you wouldn’t be able to acquire any PURE Vampirian traits. Draco: You don’t know everything. My mother used magic to seal my powers away, and ensure that no one could track me down and kill me. Father…we need to end this. Dracula: I couldn’t agree more. The tension in the air was tick. Both fighters gripped their swords. Draco may have been younger, and new to the powers within him. But Dracula had just reawakened. His powers wouldn’t reach full strength for several hours. Both Draco and Dracula’s bodies began to blur like before. They both disappeared in blink of an eye. Left wounded and confused, the others began to regain their strengths. Aaron: Where’d they go? Kiley: They’re still here. I can sense them. But I can’t pinpoint them. Loki, who had been cut on the left arm, began looking around worryingly. Loki: Move master! Loki shoved Leslie out of the way, just as Dracula appeared from nowhere, and slammed into him, back first. Dracula hissed at someone, and disappeared again. Dracula’s sword had stabbed Loki in the chest when they impacted, and Loki was now slowly bleeding to death. Leslie and the others stood up, their wounds now healed. John: With that obsidian sword, we won’t be able to take many hits from him. That first one nearly killed us alone. Kiley: And it appears he and Draco, are fighting at faster than light speeds. A speed long thought impossible to travel. Skyler: Anyone else notice that sword of his? It had blood coursing through it. Aaron: It’s his blood. Obsidian swords can be used by us, but we have to use out blood in the crafting, or it’s useless. Just then, Draco suddenly appeared, and slammed into the ground behind the group. Aaron: Draco, you have to stop fighting with your dad at such high speeds. And I need some of your blood. Draco held up his right hand. It was covered in cuts. Draco: This enough? I’ll try pulling him out of the speed. But it won’t be easy. Whatever you’re going to do, do it fast and don’t miss. Draco disappeared again. Kiley: What’re you going to do? Aaron: John, remember our fight in the mansion? John: It was just a few hours ago. Yes I do. Why? Aaron: Well, I have an idea… John’s eyes widened. John: Do you really think that’ll work? It’s a long shot, and an unnecessary one. Aaron nodded in agreement. But shrugged it off, knowing that anything could help at this point. A wooden steak impacted the ground in front of Skyler’s feet. A small army of SOLs stood in the field. On of the men walked towards the group. Man: We see now, that the only way to save our own skins…is to kill that thing, wherever it went. For the time being, we are allies. What do you need us to do? Aaron: Wait for it… Draco and Dracula appeared between the Vampirians and the SOLs. The two were locked in combat a few feet off the ground. Sword to sword. Sparks shot from the connection point of the swords. Leslie: The sliver haired one, attack! The SOLs all drew weapons, and began firing them at Dracula. Draco kicked his father away, and fell to the ground. The Vampirians ran over to help him up. Draco: My father is gaining more of his power back. We need to act fast and act now. While the group was talking, Dracula was dealing with the SOLs. Like a rubber band off of any object, the wood steaks weren’t fazing him at all. Dracula: This is pathetic. Humans have gotten lazy these past years. Dracula raised his sword. Draco: His sword…you’re right. But…you can be sure it is… Aaron: We have to try. A bolt of black lightening shot from the sky into Dracula’s sword. He slashed the air horizontally, sending a wave of blackened air and black sparks at the army of SOLs. The wave passed through them all. As it did, their skin turned black with a glossy look. Dracula: Obsidian soldiers, kill them. Save my son. I want to slay hi myself. The newly formed soldiers drew their crossbows again. No longer armed with wooden steaks they were now firing shards of obsidian. Skyler jumped in front of the oncoming stones, spinning his swords wildly as he did so. Seeing the world a bit slower than others, he was able to redirect most of the stones away from the group. Kiley: Skyler, what the hell are you doing? Skyler: I’m buying you time. Look at his sword. Its glow means it’s the epicenter of the mind control. He won’t be able to attack without breaking control until he gains his powers back. DO IT! With Draco’s blood on his hands, Aaron began to concentrate. He could feel the power growing within him, but wasn’t able to control it thoroughly enough because of the obsidian attack moments ago. He felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Leslie. And on her shoulders, John and Kiley’s hands. They closed their eyes and concentrated. While they did, Dracula took the chance, and was going to finish them off for good. He threw his sword directly at Aaron. With the dark energy from the black bolt surging through the sword, it would travel through Aaron’s body into the others. Taking them all down with a single blow. The blade was inches away from Aaron’s heart, when the group, as if a single mind, opened their now blood red eyes. As if in slow-motion, Draco saw the blood coursing through the sword fade away. The black sparks that had been dancing across the blade since it was struck with the black bolt faded ceased as well. The blade struck Aaron’s chest, but broke apart on impact. The force of the impact however, pushed everyone back off their feet. Dracula and Draco stared in disbelief. Dracula: My sword…how…how di you little whelps, manage to destroy my sword!? The Vampirians staggered to their feet. Leslie: Bloodflow. A technique made up by Vampirians after you. Let’s you control the blood flow of a target. Draco: And since they couldn’t get your blood directly, they used mine. Kiley: I know chemistry. I know how to make blood coagulate. I increased the speed of which it would within your sword. Aaron: With the blood in it useless, the magic seal you used on it when you crafted it was broken. The sword broke apart with ease. Draco: And with that. Draco gripped sword tightly and smiled. His father flew higher into the air to escape his son, but Draco was on his trail. At five miles up, Dracula stopped. Dracula: Son…do you not realize what you are? You are a demi-god. A half god created to serve as my underling when I ruled this world. Why do you protect the creatures you should be ruling with an iron fist!? Draco disappeared and reappeared behind his father. Draco: Because they aren’t blow-hard b******s that tried to kill me just now. Draco stabbed his sword into his father’s chest, straight through his heart. Draco: I longed for a father my whole life. But now I guess; I’ve out grown you. Draco let go of his father’s dying body. It fell back to the surface below. It hit the ground, leaving a small crater, and tossing dust and dirt in the air. Draco landed and walked up to his father’s body. Dracula’s eyes were lifeless. Draco grabbed his sword, and pulled it from his father’s chest. Dracula’s body turned black. A wind picked up. Dracula’s body blew over, and was carried away by the wind. The Vampirians and SOLs gathered around Draco. Aaron: You ok? Draco: Yeah. I…I’d always had this feeling that I was missing something. I thought I needed my father…my real father to fill that missing piece in. But I was wrong. One of the SOLs shouted and point towards a small hill. There stood the Vampirian council and an army of Vampires and Vampirians. SOL leader: Well…although we could have a full scale battle here…I think it’s safe to assume we’ve all earned a day of peace. Until this time tomorrow…a cease fire? Nikko: Agreed. The SOL leader turned walked away. His army following him. Leslie: What now? Skyler: We should try to help Loki. He gave a lot for us. Kiley: Yeah. We will. We’ll have a team sent to Upshaw’s labs all over town and retrieve his research before the SOLs do. John: In the meantime…do we have any money? I’m tiered and both out base and our back up base have been burned to the ground. Draco: I don’t think so. But…I have another idea… Draco ended up using his mind control powers on the staff of the best hotel in town in order to set the group up with rooms, until a new base was built. It took several months but none of them complained. Draco’s powers slowly began to increase as time went on. As it turns out, his living was slowly feeding his father throughout the years. His life energy being sapped away. Kiley’s Sais, were replaced as a gift from the council. John was given his own town to rule. The neighboring city of Moenia. He now co rules it with Kiley. That left Aaron and Leslie to rule over Shadow city. Skyler’s vocal cords were repaired, giving him the ability to talk again. Upshaw’s labs all over the city were found and raided. One of the recovered papers was on how to repair or remove vocal cords. The bodies of the five possessed people were recovered. Upshaw’s research was good. He talked about regenerative properties of Vampires and Vampirians. The bodies were slowly regenerated. Although their memories and motor skills had to be retaught and given back. Aside from Draco’s mother, who somehow used a spell before her possession to allow her memory to be unlocked. She escaped and is currently on the run. The creatures, that were classified as: Chimeras, we tracked down and captured. Upshaw’s experiments were able to be reversed. All test subjects were turned back to normal. Including Loki, who was on the edge of death when his body was taken back to one of Upshaw’s labs. As for Draco, he soon developed snow white hair. Red piercing eyes. And grew to be about seven feet tall. He became the spitting image of his father. Minus his madness. Draco became a mercenary, well known around the world. He took on cases that no one else could do. He was said to be: gifted by immortality. As for the SOLs, they continued to operate. Becoming more advanced. Without Upshaw around they were able to focus on creating an alliance between them, and the Warlocks and Witches. Dracula’s name faded into the wind. His ashes were never found. Then again, no one was really looking for him. Because some things…aren’t meant to be found.
