The Hyrulian, Terminian war.

No one knows which land was created first, Hyrule, or Termina. What is known; are the guardians of each land. The goddesses that formed Hyrule, created the land using Power, Courage, and Wisdom. The giants that formed Termina did so by combining Swamps, Mountains, an Ocean Coast, and a Desert. It didn’t take long, before both the giants and goddesses created humans to live in their newly formed lands. What the goddesses and giants had not counted on; were their powers forming more than Hyrule or Termina. It wasn’t long after their creation, that the humans began to spread further and further from Termina and Hyrule. As fate would have it, the two different races met. At first they both mistook each other as part of the same race. Until one side told the other of their guardians. Which race this was, has never been said. Regardless of whichever it was, the result would be the same: a war. Both sides believed their guardians to be the true creators. Battles broke out across the land. Between Hyrule and Termina, and within them.  The guardians of the land wanted nothing to do with the war…but when their people’s dark prayers began to take effect, the guardians became consumed with anger, hatred and bloodlust. Because the goddesses were bound to the heavens, they created ultimate warriors…the SAGES. The sages controlled the elements; Light, Water, Forest, Fire, Shadow, and Spirit. With these terrible powers, they laid waste to the Terminian army. With nowhere left to turn, the giants turned to a mask maker for help. The mask maker promised to help the giants, in exchange for immortality. The mask maker’s name: was Majora. It took time, but the mask maker created the masks. “These masks will give the wearers tremendous power.” Majora told them. The giants selected the four most elite Terminians. When the four put the mask on, they were given incredible strength, speed, and power. The sages were almost overcome, but the war was even again…until the true nature of the four masks was seen. ODOLWA; the mask of the swamp, possessed by the angered spirits of fallen warriors. GOHT; the mask of the mountain, possessed by the angered spirits of the countless animals slaughtered. GYORG; the mask of the sea, possessed by the angered spirits of the sea creatures killed by blood polluted water. TWINMOLD; the mask of the desert, possessed by the angered spirits of the dead, whose sleep was disturbed by the war. The four were wild with power, but remembered their true enemies were the Hyrulians. The goddesses and SAGES couldn’t defeat such powerful foes…so they called on their most powerful weapons, not before seen… THE HERO OF TIME, carrier of the triforce of courage. THE BRINGER OF DARKNESS, carrier of the triforce of power. And THE PRINCESS OF LIGHT, carrier of the triforce of wisdom. The three carriers’ combined powers were overwhelming, even to the mask spirits. The giants refused to surrender…their minds lost in darkness. They once again called on the mask maker. The mask maker asked for nothing in return, but for his mask to be given to the weakest of all Terminians. The triforce goddess of wisdom foresaw a disaster to come, should the mask be made, and beseeched the giants not to do it…they laughed in her face, and made the deal. Days passed, and mask maker was not to be seen. Until one day, a new mask was found…but the mask maker was not. The giants fulfilled their promises, and gave the mask to the most unlikely of the Terminians. They soon regretted this decision. The mask gave the young man power…power that not even the four previous masks combined could have. The mask devastated the battlefield. The giants began to see, what the goddess had warned them of. They tried to call on the powers of the four masks, but the fifth mask had already corrupted their minds. It was then, that the goddesses and giants ended the war, and focused on the new threat to both lands. The SAGES took care of the four masks. The fifth mask, watched its comrades go down around it. It was after the final masked creature was destroyed, that it had, had enough. Using only a fraction of its dark power, the mask began to drag the moon towards the earth. The SAGES tried, but could not defeat the mask. The BRINGER OF DARKNESS was too overcome by the dark influence from the mask to help. And the PRINCESS OF LIGHT used her power to free the giants from their heavenly prisons. In just three days time, the moment had arrived. With no place left to turn, the goddesses had put their trust into the hands of THE HERO OF TIME. When the moon got close enough, the giants held it back. While the hero of time confronted the mask. The battle was long, and it looked as though the giants wouldn’t be able to hold the moon back. But at last, the hero did it. With the defeat of the mask, the dark forces that were drawing in the moon dissipated, and the giants were able to toss the moon back into the sky. The giants looked at the mask, and knew: The mask got its dark powers from somewhere…the anger, hatred, and bloodlust of the humans, animals, goddesses, and giants. But most of all, the spirit of the mask maker himself was sealed within the mask. The giants named the mask, Majora’s mask, and sealed it away. Why not destroy it? They had granted the mask maker immortality, and their power could not touch it. With their remaining strength, the goddesses forged temples. Four in the land of Termina to house the four mask. Which the giants vowed to protect. And six in the land of Hyrlue. Which the SAGES vowed to protect. The war ended…and the fighting stopped for the most part. Throughout the years, the story was passed down…but like any great story, it soon faded into legend. However, deep down, Terminians and Hyrulians still have a burning hatred for each other.

…End…
