Town of the Dead.

Chapter 1: Outbreak.
Aaron: Run! To the drainage ditch across the street.
Skyler: Who the hell promoted you to leader?
Rian: Not the time Sky, LOOK!
[Behind the small group, a mob of people were chasing them. Although slow, the mob's sheer numbers were enough to scare the group.]
Leslie: Into the ditch, hurry.
Aaron: Leslie; go, I have the broom stick, I can hold them off.
Leslie: Aaron...there's...there's water down there.
Aaron: (picks Leslie up, drops her down to Skyler.) Too bad. Go!
[Aaron turned around, and came face to face with one of the mob members. He took the broom stick and slammed it as hard as he could against the man’s head. The man stumbled back, but recovered and tried to grab Aaron. A passing car honked its horn. The mob turned and began to walk away.]
Aaron: Damn...that was close.
Leslie: Aaron. Get down here...NOW.
Aaron: Got it.
[Aaron looked around. he saw a man run out of his house, a trail of blood following him. Another man got jumped trying to get in his truck.]
Aaron: Damn...this is too real. What's going on?
[Earlier that morning.]
Leslie: Skyler...you forgot huh?
Skyler: Yeah...I did.
[Aaron walks up.]
Aaron: Forgot what?
Skyler: Madam is making us give speeches today...I forgot mine at home.
Aaron: Same here for my English class. But, I saved a copy on my iPod.
Skyler: Go to hell, I don't have an iPod.
[Bell rings]
Leslie: Let's go Skyler.
Skyler: Yeah, I know.
Aaron: Later guys.
Both: See ya.
[50 minutes later, at the group's lunch table.]
Aaron: Oh my god, that's just comedy right there.
Leslie: Thanks... (Sulks)
Aaron: I’m sorry. (Hugs)
Brandon: You gotta admit though, it's funny. The guy who forgets his notes gets a better grade.
Skyler: I know right?
Aaron: Anyways, if we're all done: to the bus area.
Skyler: Sounds good.
[Skyler grabbed the football from his backpack and the group walked towards the bus area, however the gates to the hill were shut...all of the gates were shut.]
Leslie: And that’s that. Let's head back.
[Everyone but Skyler and Aaron left. Skyler and Aaron just looked down the hill. A man was slowly walking towards the school.]
Aaron: That guy's all kinds of fucked up. Look at his leg.
[As the two watched, Vince (one of the security guards.) walked up and started talking to the man. The man stopped and looked at Vince with a blank stare. Vince grabbed the man's shoulder, and the man bit Vince on the upper arm. Vince yelled in pain, as the man ripped off a large chunk of skin. Vince fell over, his eyes rolled back. The man began chewing on the chunk of skin he had ripped off. As the man finished, Vince rose up. Aaron coughed. The two looked over at Skyler and Aaron, and began walking towards them. Aaron and Skyler ran inside the school's cafeteria.]
Leslie: Hey, where were you guys?
Aaron: Let's go. (Grabs Leslie's hand.)
Leslie: Go where?
Skyler: Away from here.
Rian: Why, what's wrong?
Aaron: Nothing we just gotta go.
Travis: Well if you’re not going to tell us, we aren't going.
Skyler: Now’s not the time dude.
Leslie: No he's right. If you're going to insist on acting like madmen, then we aren't-
Aaron: Vince is f*****g dead you guys!
[The cafeteria got quiet.]
Rian: That...isn't even funny guys.
Skyler: We aren't kidding you guys. We wouldn't joke about something like this.
[Wally (another guard) walks up]
Wally: What's going on?
Aaron: Some guy killed Vince.
Wally: Non sense, Vince is right there.
[Everyone looked to where Wally was pointing. Vince was slowly walking around the back eating area. Aaron and Skyler's eyes widened. Vince didn't seem to notice the people inside; instead he walked around, as though chasing the birds. Wally walked over and opened the back door. The door made a loud squeaking sound as it opened. Vince turned around, and jumped at Wally. Everyone panicked and ran as Vince began to bite Wally's neck.]
Aaron: You see? Let's go.
[The small group ran from the building. On the way out, Aaron saw a broom. He grabbed it and stepped on the end, breaking it. The group ran inside the core building. They ran up the stairs and up to the roof. On the roof, they looked out into the courtyard, and the surrounding area. People were being attacked everywhere. A large group of people were in front of the core building. Trying to break in.]
Skyler: this is happening everywhere... What's going on?
Leslie: The dead have risen.
Aaron: What?
Leslie: Don't you see? We’ve angered god and now he is punishing us by bringing the dead back.
Rian: Well...she's useless. Any other ideas?
Skyler: Sound...
Brandon: What?
Skyler: These things react to sound. Not sight or touch. Not by taste I'm guessing.
Aaron: And you think this why?
Skyler: Vince, he never noticed us until Wally opened the back door. And he was following the birds around.
Rian: Could be smell.
Leslie: Maybe they can see whose souls are impure.
Aaron: Leslie...I love you, but now's; not the time. We gotta get the hell out of here.
Others: Yeah.
[Everyone made their way back down the stairs. Upon exiting the roof access stairway, they came across a floor full of people...all appeared to be in the same state Vince and the man were.]
Travis: So...who wants to give Skyler's theory a test drive?
[Everyone looked at Aaron.]
Aaron: Me?
Rian: Well, since you're asking...
Aaron: I wasn't.
Leslie: You are the only weapon holder.
[Aaron looks at the broken broom stick.]
Aaron: Cowards.
Skyler: Wait. (Breaks leg off of nearby chair.) I'll back you.
[Aaron slowly made his way down the stairs. The others watched, motionless. At the bottom of the steps, Aaron encountered several undead. He walked passed them...not making a sound. He signaled over his shoulder to the others. He saw Skyler and Leslie's faces turn to fear. Aaron ran into one of the walking corpses. The body fell to the floor. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks. The zombie got to its feet rather quickly. However, it didn't even attempt to find the cause of it falling. It stumbled away without even looking around it. Aaron signaled the others again. They all ran to the front door of the school. There were people in the office, terrified. Aaron signaled to them to come with them. The people thought about it, but eventually agreed. Aaron's group was just outside, when one of the office people forgot to make sure the front office door didn't slam shut. It did. There was a small but growing sound of groaning and thudding footsteps. The two people from the office got jumped by two zombies as they tried to leave the building. After a few minutes of walking through the drainage ditch...]
Aaron: Cause when you think of it, Japan or China are the only people twisted or smart enough to make a virus capable of killing and reanimating corpses.
Leslie: I still think it's because we angered god.
Gage: If she turns into that chick from THE MIST, I'm going to-
Skyler and Aaron: You touch her you die.
Leslie: What's it matter? We're all going to hell anyways.
Rian: Leslie...just stop.
Skyler: Can't blame her. Some people are bound to do this. There are those who are desperate for a finger to point, someone to blame. Some will accept it. Others will blame the government. People like Aaron blame foreign powers. And people like Leslie...they look to god to save them. Or that they blame him. Either way you slice it: we're in some deep s**t.
Aaron: Sky's right. It’s pointless to blame. We need a plan.
Sebastion: We need weapons.
Brandon: We need a base.
[Stomach growls.]
Aaron: Uh...I need food.
Leslie: Wow Aaron...just...wow.
Aaron: I get hungry.
Gage: Well, whose house is closer?
Aaron: Sky's. But it's going to suck having to walk all over...my place first.
Others: Why?
Aaron: My Ford F-450. It's big enough to carry us, and some supplies.
Skyler: Better idea. My house. Two of us drive to your place, pick up the supplies and truck, come back, and head to the other's places.
Aaron: Sounds good.
[The small group walked through the drainage ditch. The ditch ended near Wal-Mart. Skyler's house wasn't far. Everyone crawled out of the ditch. All around them, screaming and groaning could be heard. They ignored it, and walked into Wal-Mart. They had to get weapons. Aaron and Skyler picked up some baseball bats. Sebastion, Gage, Rian, and Travis all had various blunt objects. Leslie remained without a weapon, but picked up several med kits. Everyone met at the front door.]
Aaron: Ready to roll?
Skyler: Sort of.
Leslie: ...
Rian: She's been quiet since we saw the manager being ripped apart in the back.
Aaron: Yeah...we gotta get the hell out of here.
[Everyone walked out of the store. They rounded the corner to the back parking lot...and saw the horror. A high school's worth of zombies were scattered across the parking lot. It was too risky to go through the store.]
Travis: Idea.
[Travis walked over and opened an already partly opened car door. The keys were inside. He backed the car up and turned it towards the massive mob. He turned the radio on as loud as he could. He took his cane, and jammed it on the gas pedal. He put the car in Drive, and let it go. The music and static got the zombies' attention. They all blindly followed it.]
Aaron: Nice.
Skyler: Very nice.
Rian: And that's why I love him. (Hugs Travis.)
Travis: Get off me Rian.
Rian: Sorry.
Aaron: Let's go.
[They ran passed the mob of zombies trying to get into the empty car that had crashed. Silently they walked to the back street behind the Wal-Mart. It wasn't too long before they reached Skyler's apartment area. In houses nearby, it seemed as though the outbreak hadn't really been noticed. They walked through the area until arriving at Skyler's house. His car was there...but the front door was wide open. Skyler and Aaron went in. The others stood, waiting. Skyler walked out of his house. Wide eyed.]
Leslie: What...what happened Sky?
Skyler:...
Rian: Sky?
[Skyler walked away. Down the street. Aaron walked out of the house; everyone looked at him for an answer.]
Aaron: Pool of blood in the living room...few hours old. No bodies though.
Travis: S**t...that means...
Rian: They've turned? Maybe...or maybe these things are very neat. Either way... let’s give him some time.
[Skyler came back and everyone walked inside the house. They all sat there, silent.]
Aaron: Well...I'm going to head to my place. I'll be back soon.
Leslie: (stands in front of the door.) No Aaron. You're not going alone. I'll go with you.
Aaron: No that puts you in danger. I won't do that.
Skyler: I'll go.
Aaron: You sure?
Skyler: Yeah.
Aaron: (grabs nearby keys) then let's roll.
[Skyler and Aaron left and locked the door. Leaving the group nearly defenseless.]
Radio broadcaster: More reports from all over the country continue to poor in. This strange epidemic…
Skyler: (Turns off radio.) Huh...an epidemic?
Aaron: It's no epidemic. It's an outbreak.

Chapter 2: A warrior's tale.
[The drive was quiet. Through the dead streets, a few zombies were seen. Near down town, Skyler began to talk…]
Skyler: So...can't believe the first time I'm going to your house...is during a f*****g zombie outbreak.
Aaron: I know right? Hey man...sorry about your parents.
Skyler: Dude...thing is; I'm not sad. I'm...I'm pissed that I'm not concerned. There wasn't enough blood to mean all three of them are dead. And there was no blood around the house. But I'm not even sad at the possibility they might be gone. What the hell does that say about me?
Aaron: I think it's the fact that there are no remains...or signs of a struggle. Just stay hopeful.
Skyler: Yeah. Why'd you stop?
Aaron: We're here.
[The car was stopped in front of a small white house.]
Skyler: Oh, ???? SW J St?
Aaron: Yep. This is it. Not what you were expecting?
Skyler: Nope.
[The two looked around, no zombies. Aaron walked up to the door and opened it. No one appeared to be home.]
Aaron: No blood. I guess they got out.
Skyler: Weapons dude. Focus.
Aaron: Oh, right.
[Aaron walked into the backyard and to a locked shed. He used a hidden key to unlock the door. Inside, there were weapons galore. Guns, knives, and homemade bombs. And in the back, an M429 SAW.]
Skyler: Dude...I thought you were kidding. What the hell's your uncle doing with all of this stuff?
Aaron: Collector.
Skyler: Ok. Let's do this.
[Skyler and Aaron loaded the truck with weapons, and a few bottles of water. After the truck was loaded, Aaron went inside to get the truck keys. As he came back outside...]
Aaron: Sky, I was thinking; maybe we should all go with mainly melee  weapons. Save the bullets for desperate times.
Skyler: Sounds good.
[Skyler was walking back to the truck, when he tripped over an exposed root. Skyler's side arm fell out of its holster and landed on the ground. The gun somehow triggered, and went off. The shot echoed over the neighborhood. The bullet that went off, ricocheted  and grazed Aaron's left shoulder. Skyler picked up the gun and set it on safety. Aaron walked inside, and wrapped his shoulder up. After reloading Skyler's gun, the two walked outside. The yard and street, were swarming with zombies.]
Skyler: What the hell!?
Aaron: The gun shot...it must have brought them.
Skyler: We're...going to have to get the truck quietly.
[The two slowly stepped of the porch, both clinging to their baseball bats. They slowly crept across the yard. Aaron put his key in the door, and in unlocked the door. He tried to open the door, but instead of unlocking the door, he had turned the key to the lock position. Upon trying to unlock the door, the truck's alarm went off. The zombies in the street and yard turned and ran towards the truck.]
Skyler: God damn it Aaron! What hell's your problem? Forgot how to open the door?
Aaron: Shut up and kill these b******s.
[A zombie grabbed Skyler's arm and tried to bite him. Skyler used his elbow to push the zombie back. He took out his pistol, and shot the zombie in the  forehead.]
Skyler: I was right. Look, the blood's coagulated.
Aaron: ( stabs large dagger into zombie's abdomen.) Yeah sure enough their dead. Even someone on "roids" wouldn't be able to walk away after a stab like that.
Skyler: Dude, we gotta get the hell out of here.
Aaron: Hmmm...(Looks around) idea!
[ Aaron took out his pistol, and shot the window of his house. The zombies all turned around and slowly walked towards the sound. Aaron quickly unlocked the car door and jumped in. He started the engine, and unlocked the remaining doors. Skyler jumped in, and rolled down his window enough to put the barrel of an M-16 out the window. Aaron put the car in drive (automatic) and sped off, leaving the small horde and his defenseless home in the rearview mirror.]
Skyler: Back there; that was kind of a good idea.
Aaron: Yeah, I guess.
Skyler: Well, at least YOUR family got away.
Aaron: Dude, get over it. Until we find their half eaten corpses or have to put bullets in their skulls, they aren't dead.
Skyler: Fucked up way to put it, but you're right.
[The two were silent after that. The drive back was quieter, but the roads were more hazardous. More debris. And twice as many zombies. Most of which began to follow the car as it drove by.]
Aaron: Damn...hope these b******s don't follow us clear back to your house.
Skyler: They won't...but just in case, let's pack the others up soon.
[Aaron pulled into the apartment area, and drove down Skyler's street. At the end of the small street, Leslie, Sebastion, Brandon, Rian, Travis, and a new person Jordan, were in the street, standing around a body. The body belonged to Gage.]
Aaron: What the hell happened?
Rian: It's a long story.
[Zombie roars in distance.]
Leslie: Too long...
Skyler: Ok; Aaron, Leslie, Sebastion and Rian in the truck. Travis, Brandon, and Jordan are with me.
Rian: Can I go with Travis?
Aaron: Go ahead.
Rian: Sweet!
Travis: Go to hell Aaron.
[Everyone piled into their designated vehicles.]
Aaron: What did happen to Gage?
Leslie: Well...

Chapter 2.5: this one time...
Gage:
Well, it's been an hour. I'm calling it. Their dead.
Leslie and Jordan: Shut up Gage!
Gage: Well, since it's most likely we're going to have to kill their walking corpses, I'm putting myself in charge.
Rian: What!?
Gage: Well, I have the most experience here.
Travis: Gage...dude...you're a coward.
Rian: He's right. You didn't volunteer to go with Aaron and Skyler. So you of all people, have no right to be leader.
Gage: I'll have you know-(heavy thud and squeaking sound against back window.) Rian, go check it out.
Rian: Coward.
[Rian walked over the window, and opened the curtains. A zombie had its face pressed up against the glass. There was a smear mark where the zombie had been dragging its head on the glass.]
Rian: *whispering* I'll close the blinds slowly.
[Rian reached for a string, and began shutting the blinds. As she shut them, the zombie hit its head against the door again. Gage screamed at this.]
Jordan: Gage, you dumbass!
[The zombie started banging on the window with its fist. Roaring as it did so. Rian shut the curtains and stepped back. Jordan, Rian, Leslie, Sebastion, and Brandon, backed into the kitchen. The bathroom door slammed shut. Gage had locked himself in the bathroom.]
Leslie: Behold, our fearless leader.
[The back window broke. Everyone stopped talking, and looked over. The curtains moved forward in the shape of a person. The curtains tore off the wall and landed on the ground. The zombie stood there...listening for a sound. For no good reason, Gage started yelling...]
Gage: Go get him you guys!

[The zombie heard Gage yelling, and started banging on the door. The others in the kitchen each grabbed various objects. They ran up, and each hit the zombie several times with their objects. The zombie fell to the floor, groaned quietly, and then appeared to die. Gage opened the bathroom door…]

Gage: Nice job team. It all went according to plan.

Sebastion: (punches Gage) you a*****e!

Brandon: You left us here to die! What would that accomplish? If we had been bitten, you would have to deal with seven zombies instead of just one.

Gage: No I wouldn’t. Because I knew that by fake screaming, he would follow me. Giving you guys a chance to escape. But you didn’t try to escape. This shows how awesome you think I am.

Leslie: Can I punch him?

Travis: No. We need everyone we can get…even if it’s Gage.

Gage: See? Now, while all you throw this body outside, I’ll come up with- (notices the groups horrified faces) what?

[Gage turned around, and saw the zombie from before staring at him. Gage let out a quit whimper. The zombie roared, and bit Gage’s shoulder, causing Gage to let out a loud yell. Jordan (who was backed up against the wall with the others) ran over with a candle stick, and repeatedly hit the zombie in the head. {The following description was cut…due to possible flagging risk} Jordan fell to his knees, barely able to lift his arm.]

Leslie: Jordan…you ok?

Jordan: Uh…my arms killing me.

Sebastion: Where…what, what the hell was that!?

Jordan: Um…it’s kinda embarrassing. When Gage screamed he uh…sounded like…Skyler so I panicked and well…that. (Points to body.)

Brandon: Didn’t need to hear that…

Gage: That’s such bull crap. This guy shows up from nowhere, and you guys let him kill me?

Jordan: I haven’t laid a finger on you…

Gage: No, but you could’ve killed that zombie awhile ago. That shows you wanted it to kill me.

Rian: Gage, we ALL thought it was dead.

Gage: Whatever. Just because I was bitten, doesn’t mean I’m not still the leader of the group.

Travis: Whatever. Gage, you got to go outside. When you turn…well, hopefully you’ll walk away after you turn, and you won’t retain any memory of what happened.

Gage: Other people may be stupid enough to lose their memories, but I’m not.

Sebastion: Even then, just go outside Gage.

Gage: So you’re in on the mutiny too huh? I thought you of all people would stay loyal.

Sebastion: Gage, get over yourself, and get outside.

[Gage turned and walked to the door. He was at the doorway, when he stopped. His hand that was on his neck dropped to his side. Everyone stood…motionless. Gage turned around, his eyes now in the back of his head.]

Rian: He turned!

Brandon: Quick, get him outside.

[Brandon, Sebastion, and Travis all three forced Gage out the front door. Jordan shut the door behind them. It was the guys versus zombie Gage. Travis, (Who had a flashlight) used the butt of the flashlight to slam into Gage’s stomach. Being dead, he didn’t feel it. Gage recovered and tackled Travis to the ground. Brandon and Sebastion kicked him off of Travis. Gage stood to his feet, roared, and jumped at Brandon. Brandon managed to side step Gage, and used his toaster, to knock Gage out. The three ran into the street, Jordan still not unlocking the front door. Gage woke up, and ran at the three guys. Sebastion fled, and Brandon got knocked down. Gage tackled Travis again, and tried to bite him. This time, a baseball bat nailed Gage in the left temple. Rian was the swinger. She brought the bat down on Gage’s head several times.]

Rian: Don’t! You! Ever! Touch! TRAVIS!

Travis: Rian, Rian…RIAN!

Rian: WHAT!?

Sebastion: He’s dead…

[The six stood around the body. Travis walked towards Rian and hugged her.]

Travis: Thanks for the help.

Rian: You’re welcome… (Screams happily to self.)

[Just then the sound of two large trucks was heard. A large Ford F-450 pulled up. Aaron got out. Another car behind it had Skyler in it….]

Aaron: That’s…in…sane! That’s just amazing.

Leslie: You have a twisted sense of humor you know that?

Aaron: Yeah…

Chapter3: Step one-Social breakdown.

[The drive was both surprisingly quiet, and loud. Though the survivors didn’t say much to each other, the other survivors on the highways, couldn’t be louder. Left and right it was: They have a car! They have guns! They can protect us! What these people didn’t know; Aaron and Skyler had already made the decision not to bring anyone else into the group. They had decided this while at Aaron’s house collecting weapons. While they could follow the decision to the letter, without hesitating, it didn’t sit so well with the others…]

Sebastion: This is messed up Aaron. We should be helping these people.

Aaron: Why? You’ve seen the movies; we bring them in, they betray us and leave us for dead in the night.

Brandon: Thing is Aaron, this isn’t Zombieland or Resident Evil. It’s REAL LIFE. And we need to have a heart and help these people.

Leslie: Their right Aaron…

Aaron: Fine, give me a second.

[Aaron picked up his phone, and called Skyler.]

Skyler over phone: What is it?

Aaron: Hey, Upshaw, Brandon, and Leslie want us to help some of these people.

Skyler over phone: Yeah, Jordan and Rian were just saying that to me too. Fine, but I have a bad feeling about this. So I’ll have Travis get a gun and cover us in case something goes down.

[The two Trucks stopped. Travis and Sebastion crawled on the roofs of their trucks, each holding a 9mm handgun.]

Aaron: OK, listen up: We can only take a few of you. Choose who’s going any way you want to. You have thirty seconds.

[The crowed murmured amongst itself. Then a man spoke up:]

Man: Hey, you’re all just kids. You guys can walk. Why don’t you give the cars to the old people huh?

Aaron: Don’t really give a crap about you guys honestly. I could drive away and leave you for dead, and not lose any sleep over it. You’re down to fifteen seconds.

[The crowd’s voices picked up in a panic. Everyone ran to the trucks in a hurry. One man fell over, and was trampled. A woman and her child were the first to jump in the back of the F-450. The man from before however, grabbed them and threw them on the ground. He jumped in the truck, and grabbed a gun. A shot rang out. The crowed backed away from the truck. The man looked down at his chest; a single trail of blood was dripping down his shirt. Another shot rang out. Other trail of blood appeared from the man’s chest. He dropped the gun, and fell out of the truck. Everyone looked at the shooter. Surprisingly it was Leslie.]

Aaron: Whoa…Leslie. What the hell?

Leslie: Regardless of the situation…you should never treat another human like that.

Man in crowd: Says the girl who just took another man’s life for no reason.

Woman in crowd: Shut up! He deserved to get shot, for throwing that poor woman and her child from the truck!

Man in crowd2: That guy was my brother! So shut your mouth!

[One of the guys who claimed to be the dead man’s brother jumped at the woman. Another man near her punched the brother in the face. This caused the entire crowd to go into frenzy. Aaron jumped out of the truck, shut the tailgate door, and jumped back in. Both vehicles drove away, leaving the mob to fight amongst itself. Down the road, the two trucks pulled over at a gas station. Not to get gas, but to make a plan.]

Aaron: So…what now?

Skyler: I don’t know man.

Leslie: I…I can’t believe I killed that guy.

Rian: Yeah. But look at it this way: he deserved to be shot.

Leslie: NO! I mean he did, but that’s not my place to decide. It’s god’s…or at the very least the police.

Jordan: Sorry to rain on your parade, but: god’s not going to help us here. And the police won’t.

Sebastion: He’s right. It’s an outbreak across the country. Not like we can trust anyone anymore.

Leslie: What do you mean?

Brandon: He means: Society is going to break down. People are going to get desperate. Sure, the police might help eventually. But for the time being, people are going to be panicking. They’re going to try and find some way to survive. This means people will lose their sense of right and wrong. Like that guy, people who aren’t in a group like us, will think and fight for only their own survival. This is why we can’t trust anyone outside this group. Unless we know for a fact they won’t screw us over.

Aaron: Yeah. Well, back to the point at hand; where are we going to go?

Skyler: There’s our idea we came up with Aaron.

Aaron: The nearest one is back in GP. Should we keep going to like Portland, Salem or Keizer?

Skyler: We could take a vote.

Rian: Um…there are eight of us.

Travis: She’s right. What’s the idea anyways?

Skyler and Aaron: Prison.

Chapter 4: Friendly hotel service…HA!

[After leaving the gas station, the drive was quiet. No people. A few zombies. Everyone but Skyler and Aaron had fallen asleep not too long after leaving. With nothing but the sound of the trucks, they drove on to Salem. It was there they would try to establish some kind of base of operations. They were passing Rice Hill when…]

Aaron over phone: Sky man…I’m tiered as s**t. Let’s stop at that hotel in Rice Hill.

Skyler: Sounds good.

[They pulled over, and stopped in front of the hotel. They woke the others up, and explained what was going on.]

Sebastion: Ok, I’ll go grab two room keys.

Travis: Two? There are eight of us…

Sebastion: Yeah well, I don’t think it’d be a good idea for us to all have our own rooms…too risky. And I’m pretty sure we don’t all want to share one room. So, one room for Leslie and Rian. The rest of us will split a room.

Aaron: Six dudes staying in the same room together…not too happy with that idea. How about four rooms? We each partner off.

Rian: I CALL TRAVIS!

Skyler: (hushes) Rian shut your god damn mouth.

Aaron: He’s right. Rian, you’re in a room with Leslie. Upshaw and Brandon in another. Jordan and Travis. Me and Sky.

Jordan: Why don’t I get Skyler?

Travis: Because we all want to be able to sleep tonight…and remember…the zombies hunt by sound.

Jordan: Oh my god. Why would you say that?

Rian: Cause that’s what everyone’s thinking.

Leslie: Yeah…that’s unfortunately true.

Aaron: Besides; we have to plan what were going to do once we get to Salem.

Jordan: Fine. Just remember, everyone has to be QUIET.

[Sebastion grabbed four room keys. All rooms were next to each other. Leslie and Rian were asleep in seconds. Brandon and Upshaw were having some sort of debate. Travis and Jordan were also asleep. Skyler and Aaron were up planning.]

Skyler: I thought you were tiered?

Aaron: I am. I can sleep once we have a legitimate plan though.

Skyler: So…you really think we can survive this?

Aaron: It depends. As long as we don’t get boxed in by these things, we should be able to. I mean, these aren’t like Dawn of the Dead zombies. They don’t sprint after you.

Skyler: That would suck. Pretty sure we would be dead by now if they were like that.

Aaron: No doubt.

Skyler: So…when we get to Salem, we have to find a prison. High walls. Gates. Most likely no one inside.

Aaron: And those who are inside will be either infected guards, or prisoners. Either way, we have to keep our heads down.

Skyler: Yeah. What if the prison idea back fires though? And it becomes our grave site?

Aaron: Then you and I try our best to save them. And we go out with a bang.

Skyler: Sounds good. We should be getting to sleep though. First one up, wakes everyone up?

Aaron: You that’s going to be me. I got the floor.

Skyler: Take it.

[The two fell asleep. Aside from the occasional sounds of cars going by, there were no sounds that came from inside, or near the hotel. The next morning, Aaron was the first one up. He woke Skyler, Travis, Jordan, Brandon, and Sebastion up a few minutes after.]

Skyler: The girls still sleeping?

Aaron: Yeah. Figured I’d give them a few more minutes of sleep.

Jordan: Well, they’re still up in their room. Someone’s going to have to go get the up.

[Everyone touched their nose. Skyler was the last one.]

Skyler: Fine ya bunch of (censored), I’ll go get them.

[Before Skyler could walk up the steps to the second floor, multiple gun shots rang out. A body flew out the window, and smashed into the ground. Aaron and Skyler ran up the steps. The others went to inspect the body. The two looked in the room through the broken window. Leslie and Rian were standing there, both with their side arms drawn.]

Skyler: Wow…I didn’t know this hotel had that kind of room services.

Rian: It’s not f*****g funny Skyler! That guy broke through the bathroom door, and tried to bite us.

Aaron: What the hell were you guys doing to get his attention?

Leslie: Nothing. We heard you all talking outside. I was walking by the table, and scratched my arm. It started to bleed, and then suddenly, this guy just breaks out of the door.

Skyler: Wait…Aaron…you…don’t think.

Aaron: They can smell. They can smell blood.

Skyler: S**t. This means we have to be even more careful not to get cut or anything.

Leslie: Can we go now? If my cut arms what their after, I don’t really feel safe here.

Skyler: Yeah, let’s roll.

[They all turned around and saw another zombie standing in the doorway, another one behind it. They are open fired on the two zombies. The bodies dropped to the floor. Outside, more shots. The four ran to the railing. Jordan and the others were holding off a small group (10-20) of zombies. They ran down to back them up. As the four ran past an open door, Rian noticed a zombie with a second pair of arms. She shrugged it off, and ran down the stairs with the others. Down in the parking lot, Aaron and Skyler jumped into their trucks, and started the engines. Everyone jumped in, and the vehicles drove off. Aaron called Skyler’s phone again.]

Aaron over phone: So, don’t know if Skyler’s told anyone yet, but it turns out our original guess of the zombies were…slightly off.

Leslie over phone: Slightly?

Aaron over phone: Anyway…they can smell blood. Even a slight scratch will bring them in like moths’ to a flame.

Jordan: Oh great. Now we have to be even more careful.

Rian: Yeah. We seriously have to find a base though. I don’t wanna spend the remainder of my days in a truck.

Aaron over phone: Yeah we’re going to try the prison idea. If it backfires, we’ll come up with an idea as a group.

Travis: Which is what we should have done in the first place.

Chapter 5: Into Salem...settling down?

[It was just a few hours after leaving the Rice Hill hotel that the group finally made it to Salem. The city wasn’t much better than Grants Pass. It was actually worse. More zombies…not as many survivors, and more buildings on fire.]

Leslie: Don’t let that scare you guys. Someone had to have started those fires. This just means that we’re getting close to a survivor settlement.

Aaron: Hold that thought. (Dials phone) Sky?

Skyler over phone: What’s up?

Aaron: I’m low dude. We have to find a station.

Skyler over phone: Same here.

[The two pulled over at a Shell gas station.]

Travis: I think one group should stay here. The other should hit the mini marts near here for some food. I’m hungry.

Aaron: Food? Hell yes. I think I’m losing my fluffiness.

Skyler: It’s been a day; you’re not any skinnier dude.

Leslie: And I plan on keeping it that way. Which group goes?

[Skyler and Aaron played rock, paper, scissors, to see who would go. Aaron lost, but Skyler didn’t feel like walking, so he sent Aaron’s group. Aaron, Leslie, Brandon and Sebastion each grabbed a melee weapon, and reloaded their side arms. They walked down the street, to a mini mart they had passed on the way to the gas station. They arrived at the mini mart…but the bloody hand prints on the front door gave off a “do not enter” vibe. Despite this, they walked inside, going under the little sensor light.]

Sebastion: Listen; Get what you can that doesn’t need to be cooled or heated up. I’ll go find something to keep ice in. Then we’ll take the cold items ok?

Others: Ok.

[Aaron immediately darted to the chip and candy isles. Travis went to the deli. Leslie stayed by the door to keep watch. Sebastion walked into the back. He came back with two rolling ice chests.]

Sebastion: Load it up.

[Everyone put their items in the ice chests. They were walking out the front door, when Aaron’s phone vibrated.]

Aaron: Yeah?

Skyler over phone: Hurry up and get back here dude (gunshot, body falls to ground.) We need help.

[The four picked up the ice chest, and ran back down the street. Meanwhile…]

Skyler: Guard the cars…that was supposed to be the easy job…who the hell puts a car’s anti-theft alarm on in a zombie infested town!?

Jordan: Shut up and shoot Skyler!

[Zombies were charging at the group from every direction. Aaron’s truck alarm blaring. A zombie was running up behind Travis. The zombie suddenly fell to the ground. And the truck alarm stopped blaring. Aaron’s group was packing the stuff into Skyler’s car, when a roar was heard.]

Aaron: There it is again…that’s the same one from back at Skyler’s place…

Rian: Wonder what it is later Aaron. We got to go.

[Everyone jumped in the trucks, and drove off. Skyler sped up, and honked. Instructing Aaron to do the same. There was a loud explosion behind them. In Aaron’s rear view mirror, he saw a large plume of smoke rise into the sky (not a mushroom cloud). Considering the food they had gotten, and the fact that they were all hungry, they pulled into a neighborhood that looked like it hadn’t really been affected by the outbreak. As they drove by, looking for a good house, they saw a group of infected little girls eating someone in their front lawn.]

Aaron: To quote Zombieland; if the little girls in your neighborhood are now fucked up little monsters, it’s probably a good idea to quit driving carpool.

Leslie: That’s not even funny Aaron.

Aaron: Had to try.

Brandon: Yeah well, that house looks safe. No blood smears. Outside or on the windows. What do you think?

Sebastion: (feminine voice) Oh it’s just gorgeous. I love the color of the curtains and how they complement the house color perfectly.

Leslie: Please…never…talk like that…again.

Brandon: Upshaw, that was…creepy.

Sebastion: Talking like that felt…so…right.

[Skyler pulled up next to Aaron]

Skyler: We found a two story place on the next street over that looks perfect. What about you?

Aaron: This one. (Points at house.)

Rian: So which one is it?

[Just then, a body burst out of a window on the second floor of the house Aaron’s group had picked.]

Travis: Not that one…

[They drove to the next street, and found the house Skyler’s group had found. The front door was standing wide open. Everyone readied their melee weapons, and walked slowly into the house. Once everyone was inside, the shut the door, loudly. Nothing happened. Everyone split up to cover the house. Aaron checked the living room, and the kitchen. Nothing. Skyler and Travis checked the second floor…nothing. Leslie and Rian checked the basement…still nothing.]

Aaron: Backyard?

Travis: I looked out there when I was upstairs…nothing. No bodies. No blood, no signs of struggles. These people are either here, or good hiders…or they just left. Either way, we got to go get our stuff.

[While Aaron and Skyler carried the stuff in, Travis, Brandon and Sebastion kept watch. Rian and Leslie did one final search of the house…but nothing had changed.]

Aaron: I’m telling you, there’s got to be a catch to this place. It’s too perfect. I mean, the TV still works. Power. Hot water. Fridge and pantry full of food. There’s got to be some kind of trap here or something.

Leslie: No. It’s a gift from god. When hell breaks loose, he will grant gifts to those who truly believe in him.

Skyler: Sorry Leslie, but that just means this house was for you and the rest of us are just lucky enough to be with you. Either way, let’s just all relax. Keep everything low.

[Everyone split up. Sebastion went immediately to the computer in the living room. Brandon and Aaron went to the Xbox 360 in the living room. They started playing Modern Warfare 2. Skyler and Jordan disappeared. Travis and Rian talked in the kitchen. Leslie went up stairs and found a bible in the upstairs dresser. She sat down and started reading it. A few hours passed, and Aaron made everyone dinner. And they all sat down and watched Avatar *Sorry, best I could think of*.  They were all too busy watching the movie; they didn’t notice the shadowy figure in the backyard, which ran in front of the window…multiple times. It was around ten o’clock when everyone decided to turn in. Things appeared to be going easily. It wasn’t a prison…but it was something. Then…in the middle of the night, Aaron was woken up by a strange sound…]

Chapter 6: Rude awakening… (Enter the WALKERS)

[The strange sound that had woken Aaron up woke Rian and Brandon up too.]

Aaron: It’s coming from outside the house.

Brandon: Doesn’t matter…it’s a bad sound.

Rian: Oh god…look.

[In the window, the silhouette of someone standing across the street could be seen. The figure walked away, and the three fearfully went back to bed. The next morning however…]

Aaron: God…why am I always the first up? Oh well. Hey guys get…what the?

[Aaron walked to the window, and opened the curtains slightly. An enormous eye met his and the window. Aaron was frozen in place. The eye stared into his. It lasted a few seconds…until the eye blinked. Aaron closed the curtains, and fell back on the floor. The impact of which, woke a few of the others up.]

Sebastion: What happened?

Aaron: The window…

Travis: Yes…you can see through it…revolutionary isn’t it?

Aaron: No you a*****e…there’s something right outside the window. It was staring at me…

[Rian scoffed, and walked over to the window, and threw open the curtains. To no surprise, nothing was there.]

Aaron: I swear it was there.

Leslie: What was where?

Aaron: An enormous eye, right outside the window.

Leslie: Nightmare?

Rian: That’s what I’m thinking…

Brandon: Either way…we need to get some new clothes people…mall?

Skyler: A mall…during a zombie outbreak? Anyone else hearing the Left for Dead 2 reference here?

Aaron: Nah…I hear it…I guess it was just a nightmare. Anyways, I know of a place in town we can go to. Anyone ever find the house keys?

Jordan: I found them this morning. Anyone remember this address?

Rian: Yeah I do.

Leslie: Alright, then let’s go!

[Everyone ate breakfast, and walked outside. Aaron had forgotten his gun upstairs. He quickly ran up to get it. As he ran past the window he had seen the eye, he noticed the silhouette had returned. He shrugged it off, and ran downstairs. Everyone walked outside. As they got outside, Jordan locked the front door. As the group got to the street where their trucks were however…]

Rian: OH MY GOD! WHAT IS THAT!?

[Everyone looked at what Rian was staring at. Something…humanoid was standing next to the second floor window. The Walker was 23 feet high. Its legs making up a majority of that. Its arms were about half its body length, and were being held at its sides. The zombie’s torso was arched forward, as though it had no spine. Its head was moving around violently. The most noticeable feature of its head, was an enormous flower bud like growth on it forehead. Everyone readied their side arms. They all waited for it to run at them, looking for the source of the yelling. Instead; a large eye emerged from within the bulb (the head quit shaking violently when the eye appeared). Blood dripped down from where the eye had emerged. Everyone aimed at the Walker, waiting for it to make a move. It never made one…directly at them. Instead, the feeling of the eye staring at them grew more and more apparent. The Walker raised its hand to its face. Whatever it did, its head began to move around violently again. The group heard, and saw nothing. Their phones did though. Sparks shot from each person’s pocket. Aaron took out his phone…the screen had a large crack down the center, and had shorted out.]

Skyler: What the hell? This can’t get worse can it? (Infected roaring)

Aaron: Think again…everyone to the trucks now!

[From all around the neighborhood, Infected were running. All running directly at the group. Travis, Leslie, Rian, and Sebastion began shooting at the Walker. The bullets didn’t appear to be harming the main body.]

Aaron: Give it up, and get in!

[Everyone piled into their trucks. As they drove away, the gauges on the trucks were going haywire. Even with the Infected, running into the street by the dozens, they managed to escape.]

Jordan: What the hell was that?

Skyler: Don’t know…let’s call Aaron and see what we do.

[Skyler calls Aaron.]

Aaron over phone: Dude, before you say anything…let’s pull over at a clear area…we need to talk.

[About a mile down the road, the group managed to find a clear grassy area. There didn’t appear to be any zombies around. Despite this, they were on alert.]

Aaron: So…

Leslie: (Happily) it needs a name.

Others: What?

Leslie: The tall zombie needs a name.

Rian: She’s snapped again.

Leslie: No I mean, I looked up those games Aaron and Skyler used to play, and they always have names for the zombies.

Skyler: She’s right…how about…um…Walkers?

Sebastion: Walkers?

Skyler: They remind me of those Walkers from The Mist. The really tall mothers.

Leslie: That sounds so cute.

Aaron: Did…did you get bit?

Leslie: No…but like you say; you have to look on the positive side, right?

Rian: Damn…look.

[Up the street, the distant shape of the Walker was slowly growing larger.]

Aaron: Persistent isn’t it?

Leslie: Well, we better get away from the Walker, huh? (Giggles)

Rian: I swear she’s high or something.

Skyler: Yeah. I gotta agree there.

Aaron: We should be going…soon.

[Everyone got back in the trucks, and started driving. They didn’t notice the large massive creature chasing them down…]

Chapter 7: Trial separation…part 1 (enter the Bull, Bulk, Jumper and Specter)

[The drive was quiet…in Aaron’s truck. In Skyler’s, tensions were rising.]

Skyler: Seriously Travis, give it up.

Travis: No. We need competent leaders. Not two idiots who look at the situation half way through and then go on based on that.

Rian: I agree with Travis.

Jordan: You only agree with him because you love him.

Rian: So? What other reason is there?

Skyler: How about that, he’s right? Even though he’s wrong. We don’t need a leader. We need to all make the decisions.

Travis: There are eight of us. That puts us in a dead lock at times. We need a leader.

Jordan: Just stop talking. We aren’t getting a leader.

Travis: You just don’t want to admit, that I would make a better leader than Skyler.

[At that, Skyler slammed on the brakes. Aaron saw this in the rear view mirror and stopped. Everyone got out of Aaron’s truck and ran to the others. Jordan was holding Skyler back.]

Aaron: Care to explain?

Rian: Well; Travis thinks he could be a better leader than you guys. Skyler thinks differently, and so they want to fight about it.

Leslie: I thought there were no leaders here?

Aaron: There aren’t.

Travis: Oh really? Then I’m sure glad we all chose to come to Salem. I’m so glad we all made the choice to find an abandon house to stay in. Oh wait, we didn’t, you two did.

Aaron: You guys never spoke up Travis. We threw out ideas, and you went with them without openly complaining. So don’t complain, if you did nothing to try and change it.

Travis: Fine, I’ll change it now. I’M TAKING CONTROL.

[The group was silent.]

Rian: I’m with Travis.

Leslie: Yeah…saw that coming. I’m staying with Aaron and Skyler.

Jordan: Skyler and Aaron.

Sebastion: Well…I guess I’m more friends with Travis than Aaron, so I’m with Travis.

Brandon: Just to keep this even, I’m going with Travis.

Aaron: Fine…here’s the deal; first group to the police station across town, (points in direction) we go by that group’s leadership choice. Either our open group, or you dictatorship. Deal?

Travis: Deal. Let’s go guys. We get Skyler’s truck.

Skyler: (hands keys) you scratch it, I’ll make you wish you were getting mauled by Infected.

[Skyler gave Travis the keys, and walked to Aaron’s truck. He climbed in, and they drove off.]

Jordan: Well then…you know your way to the police station then?

Aaron: Yes…and no. I mainly know the general direction. We’ll find it first.

Leslie: And if we don’t?

Skyler: We’ll leave the rest of them and go it alone. Sound good?

Others: Yeah.

Jordan: I hope they’ll be ok though. (Car stops abruptly)

Aaron: It’s not them you gotta worry about…

[Meanwhile….with Travis’ group…]

Rian: See? This is how it should be. Just me and you…well, and those two. All of us under one person’s command.

Travis: Quit sucking up to me. Keep a look out for the police station.

Brandon: No point. You’re going the opposite way Aaron pointed. So there’s no point in looking.

Travis: Exactly. Aaron pointed the way. He doesn’t want me to take his leadership from him. He’d risk all of your lives to keep his leadership intact. He thinks I don’t know what he’s thinking. I do, I know exactly what he’s thinking. He thinks I can’t beat him to the police station…watch, they’ll all be dead. You hear me? They’re going to die…

[Back to Aaron’s group…]

Skyler: Son…of…a…b***h! Come on! This is just getting ridiculous.

Leslie: Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that thing’s veins are all popping out of its skin like that?

Jordan: It’s…kinda sickening now that you mention it. You think it hears us?

Aaron: No…it sees us.

[Aaron put the truck in reverse, and floored it. The creature charged at them, catching up to them in a matter of seconds.]

Skyler: WE GOT TO JUMP!

Leslie: He’s right.

Aaron: My…my truck.

Skyler and Leslie: AARON!

Aaron: Fine, jump!

[They all jumped from the truck. Just as they did, the large creature grabbed and picked up the truck. It tore it in half like paper.]

Skyler: This is a bad time, but DAMN NATURE, YOU SCARY. *This is a joke from Family guy. Just saying, I did not come up with that.*

Aaron: …my…my truck. (Growls and begins to yell.)

[Aaron drew his baseball bat, and charged at the creature. *I should take this time to mention; each character has a backpack that holds their melee weapons, and ammo for their side arms.* Aaron hit the creature in the side as hard as he could. It didn’t appear to affect the creature however. In fact it seemed to have angered it. The creature turned around, and back handed Aaron. Aaron was thrown off his feet, and into the wall. *Yes I realize this would have broken his spine or something, but just leave it at just hurting his back really bad.* the creature looked over at Aaron’s unmoving corpse. Skyler used this time to draw his bat, and charge at the creature. Unlike Aaron, Skyler was able to jump off of the destroyed truck and hit the creature in the head. Skyler fell to the ground, scarping his arm on the scrap metal of the truck. A small droplet of blood fell to the ground. At this, the dazed creature turned, and stared at Skyler. Skyler scrambled to his feet and ran away, just as the creature began to slam its large fist into the ground. It repeatedly slammed its fist into the ground, until there was a small crater where the blood had been. The creature seemed to be calming down, when Jordan and Leslie walked right up to it.]

Leslie: Don’t…ever…

Jordan: …Hurt my man.

[Both Jordan and Leslie unloaded a single clip (12 shots each) into the creatures chest and head. The creature fell to the ground, dead.]

Aaron: (In pain) that….that’s kinda…scary.

Skyler: Yeah…um, let’s agree to never get on their bad sides.

Aaron: Agreed…

[Skyler helped Aaron to his feet. Together, the four quickly made their way they had been going before their car got totaled. The multiple gun shots would bring some unwanted guest. Meanwhile, back with Travis’ group *this is taking place when Aaron and the others are attacked.*]

Rian: Uh…Travis?

Travis: What?

Rian: We’re being followed.

Sebastion: Yeah…I see it too.

Travis: See what?

Rian: Watch the rearview mirror…and watch the alleyway entrances.

[Travis slowed down slightly, and watched the rearview mirror. In the mirror, he saw something quickly run out of the ally, and into the next, keeping up with them at a surprising pace.]

Travis: What the hell is that?

Rian: TRAVIS!

[Travis slammed on the break. In front of them, a large mass of flesh was laying on the ground. It had large, round, black eyes. It had several large tentacles that were trying to wrap around the car. Travis looked back into the rear view mirror, and saw a skeletal face staring at him. He put the car in reverse, and slammed on the gas. The tires squealed on the ground as the truck struggled to escape the creature’s strong grip. The sound of skin tearing was heard, as three of the large creature’s tentacles tore off. The truck jumped in the air slightly as it ran over the skeletal zombie. Travis quickly turned around, and drove off, leaving the creatures literally in the dust.]

Sebastion: This was a great idea Travis. Great idea.

Rian: Shut up Sebastion. It’s a lot of stress for a leader.

Brandon: Yeah, he won’t be the leader for long. (Points at building ahead.)

[Ahead of them all, was the police station. Skyler, Aaron, Jordan and Leslie were in a small group, fending off a group of zombies.]

Travis: They’ll owe me…watch this.

[Travis pulled the emergency break, and turned the wheel. The truck drifted into the crowd of zombies, killing them all. Travis jumped out, and looked at Skyler and the others.]

Travis: Who’s the best leader?

Skyler: Considering the fact you just covered us in infected blood, not you.

Travis: Don’t cry over it. At least your cars fine. (Throws keys.)

[Just as everything seemed to be going well again, a zombie fell from the sky, and crushed Skyler’s truck. The creature looked like the thing that had attacked Aaron and the others. Instead of horns however, it had large bulged eyes. The zombie jumped away, leaving behind the crushed remains of Skyler’s truck. Skyler stared at the remains…]

Jordan: Sky…you ok?

Skyler: Yeah…I’m…I’m fine.

Aaron: Good, we thought you’d go insane.

[At that, Skyler started yelling, and started to run after the jumping zombie.]

Travis: Yep, still unfit to be leader.

Sebastion: Not the time dude.

[Everyone but Travis and Rian ran after Skyler.]

Chapter 8: Meet the resistance.

[After chasing the Jumper for three blocks, Skyler finally gave up.]

Skyler: Ugh…forget it. You aren’t worth it.

Aaron: Skyler, dude; give up. The jumper is gone.

Leslie: Sky, sorry…I saw it coming, but I didn’t say anything.

Skyler: its fine…I don’t blame you.

[The small group made their way back to the police station. Travis and Rian were nowhere to be found.]

Jordan: So…Rian finally just took Travis away.

[From inside the police station, a loud crashing sound was heard. Everyone drew their guns, and made their way into the station. Inside, it was dark…the smell of blood, both fresh and old, could be smelled. Staying within the lit area, everyone crowded into the station. Just as it seemed like the sound was just a shared hallucination, several people came running out of the shadows. There was the sound of several guns cocking. Whoever was in the room with them was human…but not friendly.]

Unknown male1: Get your gun out of my face boy.

Aaron: Ha, I will when you do.

Unknown female1: This isn’t going to end well for anyone if you pull the trigger.

Skyler: Trust me; by the time you pull the trigger I would have moved out of the way of the bullet.

Unknown male2: Pretty confident aren’t you?

Jordan: You guys have no idea.

Leslie: Bad time to say this I’m sure…but um…I have an active grenade in my hand.

All: THROW IT OUTSIDE!

[The shadow of a small object went through the doorway. There was the small clang, then an explosion. The force of which, knocked everyone to the ground. Everyone quickly recovered to their feet, and went back to the pointless stalemate. Just as the tension was at its highest, the buildings lights flicked on. The mysterious people were really somewhat old friends. Chad, Dylan, Collin, Lauren, and Austin. Everyone laughed and lowered their weapons.]

Aaron: See? I knew that deep monotone voice sounded familiar.

Dylan: Yeah, I thought so too…hey; we need to move quickly.

Leslie: Why?

Lauren: That explosion will attract a lot of unwanted attention. Plus I saw one of those tall things a few blocks away.

Aaron: Idea. Skyler; you me and Dylan will go outside, and push one of the squad cars in front of the door. Then, someone will have to open the back door or something to let us in. One will stay outside to block that door. Then, we will lower a rope or something and lift the third person up here…sound good?

Lauren: I’ll be the one to be lifted.

[Everyone looked at Lauren.]

Lauren: What? No offense dudes, but you guys aren’t exactly lightweights. I’m strong enough to move a car myself. And I’m much, much, much, lighter than any of you. So I’ll be easier to lift.

Austin: Yeah…she’s right.

[Reluctantly, everyone agreed. Aaron, Skyler, Dylan, and Lauren went outside. The others providing any need cover from the roof. Together, the four moved two squad cars in front of the front door. With no Infected in sight, they ran behind the building…]

Aaron: This is too easy. Sometimes I think-(Runs into something.) Oh god, it’s the Slender Man!

Skyler: No you idiot, it’s a Walker! RUN!

[The Walker turned around. Its head began to shake violently. As the head twitched, the legs and arms grew longer. (The Walker was standing at 6’4.) The sound of flesh tearing, and bones breaking echoed in the survivors’ ears. Now the Walker stood at its full height. (23 feet, two Stories.) Gun fire began coming from the roof. The Walker made a low growling sound. One of its arms suddenly stretched longer, and was aimed at the roof. The arm retracted, and was pierced through the heart of one of the other survivors found in the police station. The Walker turned around, and began walking away. Whether or not it had signaled the nearby infected was not known. Due to this; the people outside hurried to move the last car.]

Aaron: Come on! We gotta get inside.

[Just as the outside survivors began filing into the building, numerous roars from down the street could be heard. From every seeable direction, infected were running towards the police station. Lauren saw this before the others. She shoved the last person through the door, and jammed it shut. She went to the cop car they had all pushed to the back, and put it in drive. She pushed it as close to the door as she could. She put it in park, and shut and locked the doors. She jumped on top of the car and drew her gun, a standard 9mm handgun. Back inside the building, Aaron and the others ran up the stairs to the roof. They looked out. Hundreds of infected were running towards the police station. The roof top survivors looked for some type of rope to lower down to Lauren. They found a fire hose, and cut it from the wall. They tied one end to Aaron, and dropped the other down to Laruen. She grabbed onto the hose, and called up. Aaron turned and started walking across the roof. Being the heaviest of the group, he was the best choice. He was half way across the roof, when the worst happened.]

Lauren: (yells in pain) my foot! Get off me you b******s. (Kicks infected away.)

[Skyler and two others ran over to the edge of the roof, and began firing down into the crowd of zombies. After a few seconds that felt like hours, Lauren was high enough up to where they could grab her hand and pull her up the rest of the way. Finally, everyone was safe…for the moment. They untied Aaron, and helped Lauren to her feet. They all looked down at the growing crowed of zombies. They all walked back inside, shutting the door and most of their concerns on the way in. In the armory of the station, they all sat in silence. A man sat in the center of the room, stitching up Lauren’s leg wound.]

Man: Well then…that should just about do it little lady.

Lauren: Don’t call me that.

Man: Sorry. Anyways, since you all seem to know each other, I might as well introduce myself. My name is Hopkins. Dr. Jim Hopkins. At your service.

Aaron: Jim Hopkins? Like short for Jimmy?

Skyler: That sounds familiar…

Aaron: I was making a reference to Bully.

Skyler: Loved that game.

Jordan: Will you two focus? How’d you all end up here?

Collin: Well, we caught a ride on a greyhound bus. But we got off of it because some a*****e was trying to become the leader, and was sending people out to their deaths. So we jacked their guns while they weren’t looking.

Aaron: Huh…well then…now what?

Lauren: First things first; you have to handcuff me.

Skyler: What?

Lauren: You have to either handcuff me…or put a bullet in me now.

Leslie: We’re not going to do that.

[As the survivors argued, there was a loud crashing sound. Everyone ran down the stairs, and into the lobby. A Bull was breaking through the first set of doors to the station.]

Jordan: Guys, we got to go…like soon.

[Everyone ran back up to the roof. Down below, the crowd of zombies was now surrounding the building…minus the very back. Skyler and Aaron ran over to the edge of the building, looking for a way down. As they stood at the edge, Leslie screamed and point at something. A Walker was growing taller, and had its eye set on Skyler and Aaron. Its arm stretched out towards them. In an attempt to dodge it, Aaron moved out of the way, but fell over the side of the building. Skyler grabbed his hand, but was pulled over the side with him. The plummeted down, and slammed into the police car below.]

Aaron: Oh…f**k…my back.

Skyler: Sorry dude. I tried to help…can you run?

Aaron: Probably…why?

Skyler: we’re going to have to run here soon.

[A crowed of zombies was rounding the corner. But they were walking as though they thought they heard a sound, but weren’t sure. Aaron and Skyler tried to slowly get off of the police car, without making too much noise. Just as it seemed they were home free, the car’s alarm went off. *I don’t know how to explain this happening.* the two panicked, and ran away from the station.]

Chad: If you guys live, meet us at the high school!

[Aaron and Skyler nodded, and continued running from the horde of zombies. They were across a bridge that was about two blocks away. They crossed to the other side, and raised the bridge up. With that route back to the station cut off, they turned around to look for another route.]

*I realize I  couldn’t run that long, unless I was really motivated. And I don’t think there are any draw bridges in Portland…but shut up, it’s a fiction.*

Chapter 9: Trial separation part 2 (enter the Singer.)

[Aaron and Skyler had been walking for about two hours. They had to take a break. Sense they raised the draw bridge, they had encountered three other hordes of zombies. For some odd reason, the closer they got to the high school, the more there were. They began to question Chad’s choice of a met up spot.]

Aaron: You know…I’ve been thinking…what if…what if they left the greyhound bus because of Chad? I mean; he did send us here. And there’s nothing here but…

Skyler: More undead. I don’t know. Maybe that’s what he did. Maybe not. All I know is…we should keep walking.

Aaron: Why?

Skyler: We’re being tailed.

Aaron: Infected? We haven’t made much noise.

Skyler: No. I think it’s human. They’ve been following us since we raised the draw bridge. Get your bat.

Aaron: Over there…I see a baseball field.

Skyler: You getting that déjà vu feeling?

Aaron: Yeah…the Warriors.

[Aaron and Skyler walked into the baseball field. They stood there a moment, and watched as the strange figure walked in behind them. The figure shut the gate, and walked to the pitcher’s mound. The figure stood there…not moving.]

Aaron: Hey! What do you think you’re doing huh? Walking around here isn’t exactly a good idea at the moment.

???: … … …

Skyler: What did he say?

Aaron: I don’t know. Hey!

[Aaron and Skyler were so busy with this person, they didn’t notice the Walker rising up behind them. Skyler walked over to the figure, and move the figures head up with his bat. The face was caked in blood. The eyes were soulless black, with red pupils. The figure shoved Skyler away, and looked up. It was staring at the Walker behind them, which the two had just noticed. The Walkers head was shaking violently, and it’s eye was exposed, a sure sign it was signaling nearby infected. Skyler drew his gun and shot the Walker. A lucky shot to the eye killed it instantly. The Walker fell to the ground, too late though. Infected were climbing the fences to get into the field. Aaron and Skyler now had their bats in one hand, and their guns in the other. The horde was now in the field (only about fifty infected altogether.) they were closing in on the two, when the mysterious Zombie stopped them by yelling. The zombie stepped forward…]

Singer: You…humans…not, infected?

Skyler: Um…no, we’re not.

Singer: You kill…us. Or we…kill you.

Aaron: Wow. At least his straight up with it.

[The singer stared at them, and grinned. It bowed its head, and mumbled…]

Singer: Let their bodies hit the floor. Let their bodies hit the floor. Let their bodies hit the floor. Let their bodies hit the….FLOOR!

Skyler: Are you serious right now? *For those of you with no taste in music, that is a slight change up to the song Let the bodies hit the floor, by Drowning pool*

[The horde all began to grunt, and roar. Their eyes that were once glazed over, slowly faded back to. They all began to smell the air, and grab the skin on their arms. (Done because they have the sense of touch back). All zombies looked at Skyler and Aaron. As the singer sang Let the bodies hit the floor, the horde charged. Aaron and Skyler used their side arms, to take out a few of the front runners. When the guns ran out of ammo (12 shots apiece), they switched to their bats. Skyler had no problem, crushing a few skulls, and then running from the horde. Aaron did. He was able to knock two or three zombies over when he swung, but he was too slow to cover his back. Luckily, Skyler was able to do that for him. With only about twenty infected dead, and more showing up, the two needed an exit strategy.]

Aaron: (Grunts, bat impacts on infected’s head.) SKYLER!

Skyler: What?

Aaron: I think-GET OFF ME DAMN IT! (Throws body on ground and curb stops it.) I think the Singer is how these are able to see us now.

Skyler: Kill it?

Aaron: Yeah.

[Being the more agile of the two, Skyler climbed the fence, and left the field. This left Aaron alone. With his back to the fence, and the horde surrounding him, he had no options left, he had to take the horde on himself. The horde readied, and charged. Before it could even get to Aaron, a shot rang out, and the infected stopped, dead in their tracks. Aaron looked through the crowed, and saw the Singer on the ground…now completely dead. Skyler standing behind it, gun in his hand. Aaron nodded to Skyler, signaling that he needed help. Skyler shot a single round in the air. Not knowing where it came from (The echoes), the horde ran in different directions. Once the field was empty, Skyler opened the gate and let Aaron out.]

Aaron: (Punches Skyler’s shoulder.) You couldn’t have been any faster?

Skyler: I had to reload. Anyways, can we get out of here please?

Aaron: Yeah, let’s go.

[The two continued the walk. Aaron reloaded his gun, but was down to his last ten shells. They walked up a small hill, and looked down the street. Aside from about a dozen infected, the high school was in sight. Before they could begin walking towards it however…]

Jordan: HELP!! Someone help me!

Skyler: Was that Jordan?

Aaron: Sounded like it.

[Aaron noticed a crowed of ten or so infected trying to get into a building.]

Aaron: I’m guessing he’s in there.

[The sound of tires peeling out nearby was heard. A black Chevy Malibu *only one I could think of.* came speeding around the corner. Leslie was the driver.]

Leslie: Guys, get in. (Aaron gets in.)

Skyler: I can’t, Jordan’s in trouble.

[Just then, three Bulls came charging around the corner. The car peeled out, and left Skyler alone.]

Aaron: What the hell happened to you guys? Where is everyone?

Leslie: It’s…a long story.

Aaron: Well, we are going the opposite direction of the high school. We have plenty of time for you to tell me.

Chapter 10: Trial Separations Part 3A, Aaron and Leslie.

*Note: The following four chapters are all at the same time period, and are relatively short. They are also not my favorite, because I make people seem like total jerks.*

[The Bull finally gave up the chase, and Leslie pulled the car over at a mini mart at Aaron’s request.]

Leslie: Why are we here?

Aaron: I’m hungry.

Leslie: Aaron…you need to focus. Our friends are out there, in a city full of zombies.

Aaron: A quick burrito or something isn’t going to waste any time.

[Despite her disagreeing, Leslie followed Aaron into the store. With no on in sight, Aaron grabbed some left over things from the deli. Aaron tried to jump over the counter, but knocked the register down. At the sound of the crash, an infected employee ran out from the back room. Unable to get to Aaron, it tried crawling over the counter. Aaron and Leslie ran out of the store before it could. They drove off, in the direction of the school.]

Leslie: Aaron, that was stupid. You could have been killed.

Aaron: could have been, but I wasn’t. So alls good.

Leslie: Ugh…whatever. Anyways, what now?

Aaron: Well, I guess we head to the school and just hope the others get there. There isn’t much we…Leslie, trade spots with me.

Leslie: What?

Aaron: I’ll drive.

Leslie: Oh, ok…why?

Aaron: No reason.

[The two got out, and switched places.]

Leslie: Um…is there a reason for that?

Aaron: Yeah…The Bulls are back.

[Aaron stepped on the gas, and drove off. Just as a Jumper landed where the car had been. Behind it, the Bulls were chasing down the car. For about a mile, the Bulls chased the car without ever breaking away from the chase. Finally, Aaron came across the bridge he and Skyler had risen. With nothing left to do, he punched it.]

Leslie: Aaron…don’t you do it damn it.

Aaron: Too late.

[The car hit the bridge, and went up the ramp-like section. The car flew over the gap between the two. The car landed on the other side. The back two wheels’ break off on landing. Aaron and Leslie stepped out of the car, to see a Bull try and make the jump. It plummeted to the river below. The Jumper, and the other two Bulls turned, and left the two. Aaron smiled. Leslie glared at him.]

Leslie: What…the heck was that!? Are…are you stupid Aaron? That could have killed us.

Aaron: But-

Leslie: If you’re going to say but it didn’t; shut up now. Aaron…this is getting just redicu-

[Mid sentence, Leslie was picked up by a Specter. (The fast zombie from Trial Separations part one.) It carried her up the street, to an awaiting Bulk. (Specters were useless. They ate bones, mainly for their marrow. The Bulks would digest the flesh and organs, and give the bones to the Specters.) Aaron not knowing this, just knowing Leslie was in trouble, ran after the Specter. He pulled out his gun, but then second guessed it. He could have hit Leslie. He just continued chasing the Specter instead. Finally, the Specter arrived at the awaiting Bulk. The Bulk’s large jaws opened. The Specter lifted Leslie right above the Bulk. Several shots rang out. The Bulk made a low gurgling noise. It’s jaws closed, and its tentacles (That were raised up, like a baby that wants to be carried.) dropped to the ground. The Specter dropped Leslie, who just landed on the Bulk, as though it was just a large airbag. The Specter floated down to the ground. With its Bulk dead, it sat there. Staring at the dead body of its comrade. (Each Specter had a Bulk it was “assigned” to. If the Bulk died, the Specter would stay by its side for some odd reason. It’s because of this people think the two are lovers who changed near each other.) Aaron helped Leslie off of the dead Bulk. The two stared at the Specter, who was staring at the Bulk. In the awkward moment, Aaron and Leslie just slowly walked away. Not sure if the Specter would try to follow them, Aaron pulled out his gun, and used his last bullet to kill the Specter. After finding a way back over the river, they found a working car, and drove it to the high school. The school was surrounded by large steel walls. The school was about a mile down the road.]

Leslie: Aaron…we need to talk.

Aaron: Uh…about what?

Leslie: Since this whole mess started, you’ve looked out for me more than yourself, and you’ve become more reckless. I appreciate the concern. However…I…I think until this whole mess blows over…we…should just be friends.

[There was a silence in the car. Aaron stopped the car in front of the main gate. Skyler, Jordan, Sebastion (who had a bandage around his ankle),Travis, Rian and Brandon were all there. Aaron got out of the car, and slammed the door. Leslie got out, and that’s when Skyler noticed a jagged cut down her leg.]

Skyler: Aaron, Leslie’s leg is cut, what happened?

Leslie: I got cut by this large, blob type thing.

Jordan: Aaron!? Are you listening? Leslie’s hurt.

Aaron: (Turns around.) So? It’s not my problem anymore.

[Aaron turned back to the gate, and began hitting it with his bat.]

*Note: THIS AARON IS A TOTAL WORK OF FICTION!! I would never say that. And I would never abandon Leslie, or any of my friends if they were hurt.*

Chapter 10: Trial Separations part 3B, Skyler Jordan.

[Skyler Watched the car speed off, and the Bulls go running after it. He then turned his attention to the building Jordan was trapped in. He took out his gun…five shells left. He used the five shots to kill five of the infected. When the other six or so charged him, he took them all down with a few swings of his bat. After they were all dead, Jordan walked out of the building, holding a large machete.]

Skyler: Where did you get that?

Jordan: It was stuck in the skull of this dead guy in there. Oh god. (Hugs tightly) Thank god your ok.

Skyler: Won’t be for long.

Jordan: I’m not squeezing you that tightly.

Skyler: Not you, them. (Points up street.)

[Another horde was on its way. With nothing left to do, they turned and ran. Turning down a narrow ally, they tried to escape the mob. But Skyler’s bat kept knocking into pipes, so the horde ran in after them. Through twist and turns, the two ran for their lives, the horde keeping up fairly well with them. An opening at the end of the ally led to nothing but a dead end. A latte to a fire escape looked like their only way to escape. Jordan climbed it, and waited for Skyler. While climbing up however, the ladder disconnected, and fell. *Not saying Skylers fat, the ladder was old and rusted.* Skyler stood up, bat in hand. The horde never showed up though. For some odd reason, it had quit following them. Skyler shrugged it off, and lifted the ladder up to the platform. He climbed up, and he and Jordan went inside the building. They opened the front door, and were surprised to find…nothing. No infected or Evolutions anywhere. It’s as though the chase that had just happened, was all in their head. The two walked away. They were walking past a park, when several Bulls, and a Jumper went by them.]

Jordan: Those things are after someone.

Skyler: No doubt.

[They ignored it, and decided to walk through the park. There, they saw a chilling scene. A woman was lying face down on the ground. A large chunk of flesh missing from her neck. On the ground next to her, a kid, no more than four years old, and a baby, not even two months old lay next to her. Both dead as well. *I hated writing that part. I wrote it, and deleted it like seven times.* Skyler saw this, and got teary eyed.]

Jordan: Skyler? Let’s go.

[The two walked away, the image now burned in their heads. Down the road, they were crossing the river. Down the river, they saw a bridge raised up. They watched as a car flew over the bridge, and a large zombie following it fell down into the river.]

Jordan: Was that the group that passed us before?

Skyler: Don’t know, we’ll find out later. (Grabs Jordan’s hand and runs.)

[A bull was chasing them. Skyler heard some gun shots in the distance, so he ran in that direction. While running, Jordan tripped, and fell.]

Jordan: Skyler help!

[Skyler stared at Jordan with a scared expression.  He turned his back, and kept running. The sound of a shotgun rang, and the Bull dropped dead. Skyler and Jordan looked at the ally. Travis walked out. Close behind him, with a depressed look on her face, was Rian. The three walked over to Jordan. Skyler extended his hand to Jordan, but Jordan slapped it away.]

Jordan: You were going to let me die you b*****d.

Skyler: Jordan, I’m so sorry. I…I just…

Jordan: Whatever. Let’s just go.

[The walk to the high school was quiet. They were only in front of the gate for five minutes, when a car pulled up. Aaron and Leslie stepped out.

Chapter 10: Trial Separations part 3C, Travis and Rian.

Rian: Ok. Well, that was horse crap right? I mean, they said we’d be safe, but they lied. Figures huh? So what now.

Travis: Don’t know.

Rian: Well, there’s a gun shop over there…how about that?

[Using a rock on the ground, Travis broke the window. The two crawled into the shop. The entire inventory was gone. Travis walked to the back room, and opened the door to the back office. In the office, was a shotgun hanging on the wall. After finding twelve shells in the drawers of the table, he was ready to leave. He called for Rian, but she was nowhere to be found. He shrugged, and left the store. He was half way down the street, when a gunshot went off from behind him. He turned to see Rian holding a magnum. But she had used the one bullet it had.]

Travis: What the hell Rian?

Rian: Travis, check it out. I found this in the shop. We could use it right?

Travis: Yeah…if you hadn’t used the last bullet! (Roars heard close by.)

Rian: Oops…

Travis: Dumbass.

[An infected ran around the corner, almost catching Travis off guard. He drew his gold club, and hit the zombie in the face. It fell over on the ground, and began twitching. Rian ran up and started yelling…]

Rian: Travis, it’s still moving. You didn’t kill it. You didn’t kill it.

[Travis put the gun next to the zombies head, and pulled the trigger. The force of the blast pushed him back slightly. The remains of the zombie’s head, looked like mush. Rian laughed.]

Rian: That was a little over killing don’t you think? I mean I don’t think it matters. Well, what should we do now huh? I mean we should find the other soon, don’t you think?

[Travis glared at her, but said nothing. He walked away from the body, and continued on. Rian followed closely behind. Rian continued to talk to him, even when they were hiding from some passing infected, she continued asking him questions. Finally, the school was down the street from them, about two miles or so. After what seemed like an eternity of talking, Travis had, had enough.]

Rian: Travis, are you mad or something? I mean, I care about you, and don’t want you to be mad or anything you know? So what’s wrong? Come on, tell me please? Please?

Travis: What’s wrong with me?

Rian: yeah, I want to know. Come on, you can tell me anything.

Travis: Ok then…YOU! You are what’s wrong with me! You haven’t shut up since we were separated from the others! Your useless. You haven’t done anything to help! Shut up Rian. Can you do that for me? JUST SHUT THE HELL UP! AND LEAVE ME ALONE!

[Even with the yells echoing, there was a silence in the air. Rian stood there staring at Travis. Travis scoffed, and walked around a corner. Rian tried to follow, but was stopped by three (fully grown) Walkers. Behind her; five normal infected.]

Rian: You guys picked the wrong time to f**k with me.

[Rian picked up a pipe on the ground. She held that in one hand, and her bat in the other. The Walkers shrank down to their 6’4 size, and ran at Rian, as did the infected. In a spinning motion, Rian crushed the skull of one of the infected, and knocked back a Walker. A Walker jumped on her back, and tried to bite her, but she flipped it over her shoulder, and brought both blunt objects down on its head. Another infected grabbed her, and tried to bite her. She shoved it back into the crowd. The last Walker wrapped its arms around Rian, and started to squeeze her. A loud shot rang out. The Walkers head and eye, exploded in a burst of blood and rotting flesh. Rian looked, the shooter was Travis. The infected ran at Travis. Travis pulled the trigger again, killing the entire crowd. Rian looked up. Travis reloaded the gun, and cocked it. Rian ran over and hugged him.]

Rian: I knew you cared about me. I knew.

Travis: Get off me damn it. I don’t. But I’d lose more sleep than I can afford to lose if I just let you get mauled. Besides, you could be useful.

Jordan in distance: Skyler help!

Rian: Better go help him.

Travis: One of us has to. And it sure as hell isn’t you.

[Travis and Rian ran down an ally. Travis looked out, and saw a Bull charging at Jordan. Travis aimed, and fired.

*The Travis and Rian in this are completely made up. Rian isn’t that obsessed, and Travis isn’t that big of a dick to people.*

Chapter 10: Trial separations 3D, Brandon and Sebastion.

[Brandon looked around the corner. The Specter was still watching them.]

Brandon: Damn. It’s still there. I think it wants to wait us out. Or it’s going to take us by surprise. Either way, we got to get you to a safe place. (Looks at Sebastion’s leg.)

[Brandon helped Sebastion  to his feet. Then two hobbled into the back door of a Red Cross building. Inside was quiet. Brandon set Sebastion on a chair, and went to find some bandages. He found some, and started to wrap Sebastion’s leg, when a man walked down the stairs.]

Man: That won’t help him. Here, give him this wherever he was bit. (Hands Brandon syringe  full of clear, blue liquid.)

[He hesitated, but gave Sebastion the shot. He wrapped Sebastion’s leg in bandages, and left him there. Brandon and the man walked to the other side of the room to talk.]

Prof. Knight: My name is knight. Professor Knight.

Brandon: Nice to meet you. Brandon. But everyone calls me Ferrell. That’s Sebastion.

Knight: Yes, nice to meet you. So, what brings you here now? Surviving?

Brandon: Yeah. Our friends were separated from us. We are all meeting at the high school.

Knight: Where the military has a quarantine section?

Brandon: I guess. Our friends told us about it. Why don’t you come with us?

Knight: I…I can’t. Please; you’re welcome to stay here as long as you wish.

[Professor Knight quickly walked back up the stairs. Brandon walked over to Sebastion, who was drooling all over the floor.]

Brandon: Ugh…the hell if I’m cleaning that up.

Sebastion: Brandon man…come here. Don’t leave me.

*Yeah, I’m sorry Brandon and Sebastion. I just had to have a little fun here. J *

Brandon: Dude I’m right here. What is it?

Sebastion: I…I always…really liked you man.

[There was an awkward feeling in the air.]

Brandon: I’m leaving.

Sebastion: Don’t run away from love Brandon! You can’t escape it! Or me!

[Brandon walked up the stairs, and found professor Knight, trying to hang himself. Brandon ran over, and cut the rope as fast as he could. Professor Knight coughed violently.]

Knight: You saved me?

Brandon: If I see someone about to die, even if I don’t personally know them, I try and help.

Knight: Is that how it was with your boyfriend down there?

Brandon: I have a gun in my pocket. I could shoot you. He’s my best friend. He isn’t, and will never be anything more than that.

Knight: Denial. You will come to terms with it eventually. Listen kid. I guess you should know. This thing with the outbreak…it…it isn’t an isolated event. It’s global by now. And it’s…my fault.

Brandon: Let me guess; you work for a pharmaceutical company. But you’ve been creating experimental bio-organic weapons to sell to the highest bidding country in secret buildings called HIVES. But the virus got out, and you guys couldn’t contain it.

Knight: Close, but no cigar. I work for the government, in a non secret building a few blocks from here. And we were trying to create a brand new type of metal. A super metal, if you would. We managed to harvest large samples from Haley’s Comet. We were in the process of creating a super metal, when…we…somehow created a super virus. It did escape, but it was so powerful, it managed to spread over the entire US in a matter of days. And the world by now. The virus targeted people with the rare blood type O+ *unsure if It’s rare or not…just roll with It.* Once they were infected, they could willingly infect anyone. However…the first person who got infected is the key. All of the viral cells are tuned to this one man’s blood. If he dies, all the cells across the planet die. Those already infected will die, and dissolve into nothingness.

Brandon: Damn…I didn’t think it worked like that.

Knight: It does. This man mutated into this…this…thing. It’s still producing the virus cells. If you inject this into the original carrier, it will all end.

[Just then Sebastion stumbled up the stairs.]

Sebastion: (Slurring) there you are baby. Where ya been?

Brandon: Damn it Sebastion, go back down there.

Sebastion: Can’t do that…there’s um…people trying to break in. They are covered in blood…I think their sick.

Knight: You two gotta go. Over there. Take the case with the blue syringes. Smash the green ones. And hand me the red one.

Brandon: (Hands syringe to Knight) what’s that do?

Knight: it accelerates the amount of blood my body produces to be 1000x as much. Wait for it to happen, and make a run for it.

Brandon: For what?

Knight: You’ll see.

[Knight jumped out the window, and landed down below. He injected the syringe in his neck. Almost instantly, his entire body began to puff up.]

Knight: My only regret; is that I did this to the world.

Brandon: KNIGHT!

[Knight’s body tore apart, and exploded. Spraying blood over the street, and nearby buildings. The infected ran in a frenzied riot, trying to get as much blood as they could. Brandon knew this was the signal. He and Upshaw jumped down, and ran off, towards the school. They were the first to arrive. As they arrived, Sebastion turned…normal-ish again. He stopped hitting on Brandon, but didn’t remember doing it before. The two stood there for half an hour before Travis, Rian, Skyler, and Jordan showed up. After them, Aaron and Leslie showed up. The group was back together. Aaron walked up and hit his bat against the gate several times. The gate opened to reveal three dozen marines with assault rifles aimed at them. Behind them, a crowd of people. A man walked out. He was obviously in charge.]

Man: Any of you bitten?

[Everyone shook their heads.]

Man: Then welcome to paradise.

[The group walked through the gates, which closed behind them. They weren’t through the gates for five seconds, when they were jumped…by their parents.]

*These chapters were boring to write. And I’m sure boring to read. But this kind of stuff might happen when the apocalypse comes. Anyways, get ready. The end is coming soon. J *

Chapter 11: Tensions rising...

[Even with the safety of the walls, military force, and back in the comfort of their families, the group stayed together.]

Aaron: Ugh…I need a shower.

Rian: You’re pathetic.

Aaron: What? Just because I’m a dude I can’t want a shower? After being covered in blood the last three days?

Rian: …ok…true.

Skyler: Nah, Aarons not the only one. You can only go so long being covered in someone else’s infected blood. (Looks around.) Where are Jordan and Leslie?

Rian: Not sure…Aaron?

Aaron: Hmm…I think they have a shower area set up in the locker rooms…huh? Oh, don’t know, and don’t give a crap. I’m going to look for a shower. Late.

Brandon: What a dick.

Sebastion: What happened anyways?

Skyler: Don’t know…but I’m going to find out. You three-

Rian: Go look for Jordan and Leslie. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

*No, this chapter is not that zombie filled. It mainly is just about tying up a few loose ends before the final fight. Just hang in here.*

[Skyler walked around the campus. In the campus’ court yard, a tank was parked.]

Skyler: A tank? Ever hear of over kill?

[Skyler found where the gym building was, and saw Aaron standing outside of it.]

Skyler: So?

Aaron: There are people in there. I have to wait.

Skyler: Not that. What happened?

Aaron: Don’t wanna talk about it.

Skyler: (Pushes Aaron into building.) Dude; you may be my friend, but she is too. This is depressing her, and pissing you off. Now tell me.

Aaron: She just wants to be friends until this zombie business is over. And that; will never be over.

Skyler: … (Growls angrily, and punches Aaron in the shoulder.) You selfish son of a b***h! That’s it!? Dude, grow up!

Aaron: Me? At least I tried to save her. From what I hear; you almost let Jordan die. What, tiered of being his toy? Or do you have another guy on the side?

[At that comment, Skyler tackled Aaron to the ground. Meanwhile…]

Rian: Really? That’s why Aaron’s so pissed? What a jerk.

Leslie: But it’s understandable.

Jordan: No Leslie, it isn’t. Me, being pissed at sky is. You just wanting to stay friends until this zombie deal is over; is. Not giving a damn about you because you have other priorities like survival? Isn’t.

Guard one: We have a fight between two of the new arrivals over by the gym.

Guard two: Bet on who wins?

Guard one: You know it.

Leslie: New…arrivals?

Jordan: We were the last people to show…

Sebastion: I’ve always wanted to see a fight between them.

[The remaining group members ran in the direction of the guards. When they arrived, the general and two other guards were already there. Each guard holding either Skyler or Aaron by the wrist. Both boys’ faces were covered in blood.]

General: Listen here you little snot nosed s***s; I don’t care what your reasoning is. I want this fighting to stop. If I hear or see either of you two fighting again, I’m going to have you and your whole group kicked out of this compound. Do I make myself clear?

Skyler and Aaron: Yes sir.

[The general and the guards walked away. And the small crowd with them.]

Jordan: Skyler? (Taps foot on the ground.)

Skyler: Coming…

[Aaron turned and walked away from the group.]

Rian: Well then…with Aaron and Leslie no longer together, we need another boy/girl couple in the group to even things out. Travis?

Travis: Sure.

Rian: Really!?

Travis: Yeah, of course. But sense this is a totally made up event, how about for our first date; we go for a ride in my flying limo, with my monkey butler driving?

Leslie: Real nice Travis.

[Leslie and Rian walked away. Leaving Travis, Sebastion, and Brandon alone.]

Brandon: Ever notice how the three of us have gotten the fewest lines in the story?

Sebastion: Yeah…I have.

Travis: I think it’s because the writer doesn’t know any of us that well. *it’s true though…I don’t.*

[About an hour passed. Aaron was standing on the lookout platform above the main gate. Skyler and Jordan came walking up…]

Jordan: Say it. Say it now!

Skyler: Fine…look…I’m…I’m sorry man.

Aaron: Damn it…I can’t stay mad.

Skyler: Hug?

Aaron: come near me, and I’ll push you off this platform.

[Leslie walked up behind Jordan and Skyler. And behind her were Brandon and Sebastion.]

Aaron: Well then. Seems like everything is…slow…ly. Yeah, of course. All the fucked up designs of fate lately, this had to be the last one.

Skyler: Gaia protect us.

Leslie: God…have mercy on us…

Sebastion: You two can pray all you want…this is still going to suck.

[In the distance, a horde of zombies. 2,000-3,000 strong. Walkers, Bulls, Specters carrying Bulks, Jumpers, and Infected. All marching as if one single hive mind. The horde was moving directly at the base. And with the school being the last known safe house, and there being only on way out; it was time to fight. Or it should have been…then…it appeared. Right as Rian and Travis showed up…]

Rian: Look, all’s I’m saying is there has to be one gay couple, and one straight couple. And I’m the only girl left other than Leslie. And so you have a responsibility…to…are you listening to me?

Travis: Looks like you get your wish. Here comes your true love.

Rain: What the hell are you….oh god…if I didn’t like him before, I sure as hell wont like him now.

Aaron: I thought you killed him?

Rian: Yeah…I did…with several blows to the head.

Skyler: There’s a joke in that somewhere, but…I can’t fine it yet.

Aaron: Guys, we got to go get some guns.

Others: Why?

Aaron: Because, he’s following us here. It’s no coincidence he’s here. So we need guns.

[Skyler and Travis went and collected multiple weapons from the guards. (Who were all for letting a bunch of kids die other than them.) Each person picked a weapon, and the eight of them stood, side by side on the platform. Behind them, family and the few survivors of the human race. Ahead of them; an army of the undead, and its obvious leader.]

Aaron: To take another quote from Zombieland: It’s time to nut up, or shut up. (C***s shotgun.)

*I’m not trying to make Aaron sound badass in this. But come on, it’s in my nature to say something like that.*

Coming soon…Chapter 12: All will be well, when I see you in hell *Yes? No?*

Chapter 12: All will be well, when I see you in hell.

*Yep, the finale is here. Longest chapter to be. Here we go!*

[The group stood on the large wall…looking out at the army of dead. As if signaled, the dead began their assault. The group fired a barrage of bullets into the crowed. The front runners dropped to the ground. Within several areas of the army, Walkers began to rise. Specters began taking flight. Jumpers leaped in all directions. And Bulls charged forward. With each Evolution type zombie, there were fifty ordinary infected it seemed like. The soldiers within the base also readied themselves. If the group were to die, or fail at fending off the oncoming horde, they would be forced to act.]

Jordan: Guys, we aren’t going to be able to pull this off.

Leslie: Yeah, he’s right.

Skyler: We aren’t giving up. A….Aaron?

Aaron: Here I am. (Put’s down several propane tanks.)

Rian: Um…

Aaron: This is going to be fun.

Skyler: Road flares…duct tapped to propane tanks with busted nozzles? This can’t possibly back fire. *I’m completely uncertain if this would work, just go with it people.*

[Aaron tapped five flares, to five propane tanks. He waited for the horde to get closer. He didn’t have to wait long. A roaming Specter grabbed a tank. Before it could yank it away from Sebastion (who was holding it) he managed to light it. The Specter dropped the tank in the crowed. The air suddenly got quiet, and was followed by an explosion. The explosion sent pieces of asphalt, and bodies in all directions. Infected blood droplets landed over the bases’ front gate.]

Aaron: And to think…I got that idea from a movie.

Brandon: Dawn of the Dead?

Aaron: No, Open Season.

[The group turned their attention back to the army. They each lit the remaining tanks, and had Aaron, Skyler, and Travis throw them out. *Sorry to the rest, but we are the strongest of the eight of us…you understand.* the tanks went off one by one. Bodies, limbs, and asphalt went everywhere. With a fifth of the undead army dead, the remainder finally made it to the gate. The group shot down at the horde, until a few Walkers forced them off the high platform, and down into the court yard. There they stood. Together with three dozen highly trained marines. The pounding on the gate continued. Three men went to the platform, and tossed down a few grenades. The blast from them sent one man falling from the platform. Another fell down into the horde, his screams of pain being his last known “words.” The last man was killed; pierced through the head by a Walker. The Walker pulled the man past the wall, and out of view. The pounding and slamming on the main gate continued. The soldiers and the group readied themselves for the inevitable. Just as it seemed like the gate would give, the pounding and slamming stopped. One of the soldiers walked over to the gate. He put his ear up to it, listening. Another solider went up to the platform.]

Solider on platform: Oh my god! What the hell is that!?

[From over the wall, a car flew, and hit the platform. Killing the man and destroying the platform. The guard at the gate turned around, paralyzed. He tried to run, but it was too late. A large slam in the gate brought it crashing down. Everyone aimed, and was ready to fire. However, instead of an army of the dead, a single creature walked in. About 8 feet tall, arms puffed up to half the width of a Redwood tree. *use your imagination on that one.* its legs, just as big. The head was a brain…or an infected decaying version of one. And at the center of the chest; what appeared to be the original body. One that the group knew well… Gage.]

Aaron: W-what the hell?

Gage, deep raspy voice: What’s wrong guys? Not happy to see your old friend?

Rian: No, then again, if you beat someone’s head in with a baseball bat, you kinda expect them to stay that way.

Gage: Oh, but fate had a different plan for me my sweet Rian. You see, I was dead; however the Brain was kind enough to bring me back to life. You guys…have to let me change you too. It’s so…liberating.

Skyler: Not going to happen Gage.

Gage: But you guys haven’t lived until you’ve bitten into someone’s neck, or arm, or face, and watched the blood flow from them. The sound of their screams, and final gasping breaths, the pools of blood, the feeling of ripping them apart and devouring their flesh, and knowing that you just took their pathetic mortal life…it’s just…so…incredible.

Aaron: Well then…I vote we kill him.

Leslie: Agreed.

Gage: Have it your way.

Travis: Wait…I…I want the change.

[Everyone stopped and looked at Travis…shocked.]

Rian: No…Travis…you don’t mean that.

Travis: Yes I do…look around you guys. This place is our graves one way or another. Might as well die on the winning side.

Aaron: (C***s gun, and aims at Travis) Travis, you’re my friend, but don’t think I want hesitate to blow your head off if you get anywhere near him.

Rian: Aaron no! (Runs in front of barrel)

Aaron: You’re going to have to shoot him one way. Choose now: Zombie or human?

[A tentacle grew out of Gage’s shoulder, and picked up Travis. The tentacle brought him closer to Gage’s mouth.]

Gage: A simple bite from the brain and you will become a weaker version of me.

Travis: Thing about that Gage; I’m no traitor. (Fires shotgun point blank in Gage’s face.)

Gage: You b*****d! That’s it; I’m going to rip you all apart! ONE BY ONE!

*FIGHT!*

[With that comment, the final fight began. The group and the soldiers open fired. The bullets seemed to have almost no affect on the arms, legs, or torso. The head looked like the only weak point on the body. Travis and Aaron (the only two with shot guns) took note of this. They ran up close to Gage, and each fired a single shot. Gage roared in pain, and tried to swat them away. But a couple well placed shots from Skyler, Brandon, and Sebastion, distracted him. Rian and Leslie chose to stay out of the fight, aside from firing from a distance. Everything was going well for the survivors, until they ran out of ammo.]

Travis: I’m out of shells!

Aaron: I know same here. And we haven’t even made a dent in him.

Gage: Of course you haven’t. I’m not one of the mutated freaks out there. I’m not a human or zombie, I’m a-

[Gage was cut off by the roaring sound of a nearby helicopter. As though called on in a game of Call of duty, a helicopter appeared over the wall, and began firing at Gage. On a radio behind the group, a familiar voice came on…]

Yhaun: SOMEONE CALL IN THE BIG GUNS!? (Laughs hysterically.) You wanna play? Let’s play!

Aaron: Never thought I’d be happy to see Yhuan…and where the hell did he get a military helicopter?

Soldier: I told you some kid stole it sir.

General: Well I’ll be a son of a b***h…you were right.

[Everyone watched as the helicopter flew above the school, never focusing on anything other than Gage. Gage’s tentacles were too short to reach the helicopter, and he couldn’t jump high enough to reach it. And when the Walkers outside the gate tried to offer assistance, Gage would roar at them, causing them to stand down. Victory was certain at this point…then disaster.]

Yhaun: I’m out of rounds…I only have a rocket left. Everyone scatter!

[The survivors scattered. The helicopter fired its one rocket. Everyone saw it happen…in slow motion…several of Gage’s tentacles grabbed, and managed to turn the rocket around. *I know that’s unrealistic, but you’re reading a story about a zombie apocalypse. So get over It.* the rocket flew back, and hit the tail blade of the helicopter. Everyone watched it crash into the school’s roof. The group managed to find ammo for their weapons, and was getting ready to go back to the fight…when Gage fell over. His breathing was slowing. He lied in a pool of blood from his wounds.]

Aaron: No point no guys. He’s finished.

Gage: Need…flesh…you!

[One of his tentacles shot out and caught a man nearby. The group ran at Gage, but he slapped them away. *I’m really, really not happy writing this part that I am about to. It makes me feel like a horrible person, but it’s the only thing that would piss me and Sky off enough.* Gage took the man, and bit the man’s neck. The man couldn’t even yell out for help or scream, the bite was too deep. A little girl screamed, and ran from the crowd of survivors. She started hitting Gage’s foot. Gage laughed slightly, and kicked her over the wall, into the awaiting crowd of infected. Aaron and Skyler saw this, and grew angry. They looked around…the only useful thing in sight, was a turned over army jeep. *the ones with the turrets on top…I forget what their called.* Skyler, Aaron and a few soldiers turned it over. Skyler drove, and Aaron operated the turret. They drove around Gage, firing a continuous wave of bullets. This angered, but didn’t seem to harm Gage. Leslie and Rian ran from the fight, looking for something…]

Leslie: There has to be something useful.

Rian: Found it.

Leslie: That’ll work…you know how to work it?

Rian: No…

Solider: We do.

[Back at the fight, Gage had finally gained enough strength back to stop the jeep. Aaron and Skyler jumped out, just as Gage tore it in two. He walked over to Aaron and Skyler, and raised his foot up to stomp on them. Before he could lower his foot, another barrage of gun fire pushed him back. The tank Skyler had seen before rolled into the courtyard.]

Skyler: Am I the only one who sees this as a coincidence?

[The tank rolled to a stop. The top hatch opened, and Leslie and Rian popped out of the top. Aaron and Skyler ran over by the tank. From within the tank…]

Solider: We’re ready to fire, just hit here when you’re ready.

Gage: A tank? That’s your final choice? And when that fails, then what?

Brandon: This! [Stabs ten blue syringes into Gage’s arm and runs over to tank.]

Gage: And now your poison has no affect. Don’t you see? We’ve won. You’ve lost. It’s over. You can’t beat me…I’m no longer human, or zombie, I am A GOD!!

Leslie: Damn it Gage, you’re nowhere close to a god…now quit f*****g saying that!

[With that, Leslie kicked the fire button within the tank. Everyone saw it, as if slow motion again. The shell fired out, and hit Gage directly where he and the Brain were fused. The explosion blew the creature in half. With no hope of healing…the Titan died. From its body, a strange blue mist began to spread throughout the air.]

Sebastion: Mist?

Travis: I don’t think so…when I put my hand through it, it doesn’t stick to me. What the hell is it?

Brandon: The cure…or the zombie’s plague. Either way; look.

[The army of zombies; were all panicking. A Walker tried to stretch out its arm, but shriveled to nothing but bone. This happened to all the zombies. The blue mist appeared to be re killing them. Their flesh decomposed in seconds, leaving nothing but bones.]

Leslie: Well then…that’s that.

Aaron: (Walks up.) You know…they say “Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorn.” Whoever said that obviously never met a Christian girl defending the name of her god. I’m sorry I was such a dick.

Leslie: You weren’t, but its ok. By the way: (hugs and kisses check.)

Aaron: Um…

Leslie: I said until the zombie event was over…and unless I’m the only one to see them all falling apart, I think it’s over.

Aaron: You are so random you know that?

[Back to Travis and Rian.]

Travis: Look, I’m sorry I said what I did…no hard feelings?

Rian: Of course not…so does this mean…

Travis: No. There’s still no chance of us happening.

Rian: Damn.

[Over to Skyler and Jordan.]

Jordan: And what will we never do again?

Skyler: Leave you to your death…please let go of my ear….it really hurts.

Jordan: No, cause I’m not done talking to you. Another thing, don’t ever do that whole jeep deal again…

[Sebastion and Brandon….* going to love this part.*]

Sebastion: So I was hitting on you?

Brandon: Yeah. But, you were all brain gone from the medicine and the bite.

Sebastion: No I wasn’t. I was serious dude.

Brandon: I’m leaving. (Walks away.)

Sebastion: I told you, you can’t hide from love!

[As everyone slowly began reuniting with their families, Yhaun came running into the courtyard and the Resistance in from the main gate. Everything seemed to be back to normal…until an explosion across town got everyone’s attention.]

Aaron: Um…nope, not even going to wonder.

Skyler: Let the military handle that one.

[The survivors all crowded out of the school’s courtyard. It was a long walk back to GP…or a tiring task to find a car big enough to fit everyone into…but compared to the fight with the Titan, it was all too easy.] *Happy ending…*

Alternate ending: Another path…

*This is just a quick glimpse to how things would have ended if I was in a bad mood.*

[Aaron Skyler and several Soldiers flipped the Jeep. Aaron got on the turret, and Skyler drove. The two of them drove around, firing an endless wave of bullets at Gage. Several Walkers grew taller than the wall, all of them watching the fight. Travis ran out, and tried to inject Gage with the syringes…but of course, disaster struck. A Walkers arm pierced through Travis’ left shoulder. Five more through his Torso…all arms retracted, and tore Travis apart.]

Rian: TRAVIS!

[Rian tried to run over to what was left of him, but Gage picked her up, and tossed her at the wall. Her back hit the very edge of the top of the wall. The was a loud snapping sound as her body flipped over the wall, and out of sight. Skyler stopped driving, and looked at Travis’ body. He was about to step on the gas to drive, when Gage stepped on the front of the car, crushing Skyler. A large tentacle stretched out, and wrapped around Aaron. It squeezed him until he latterly popped like a balloon.  Sebastion and Brandon ran at Gage, both with shotguns ready. However, two Bulls from within the crowd ran through the courtyard, and slammed the two into the wall of the school…both died on impact. Jordan was hiding in a tree in the courtyard…a Specter came, and picked him up. The Specter dropped him into a Bulk, where he was ripped apart, and digested. Leslie dropped to her knees. She reached for a nearby shotgun. She picked it up, and fired a single shot at Gage. A jumper jumped over the wall, and crushed her.]

Gage: You fool’s…well, their dead anyways…go my children, and feast on the flesh of these humans!

[The screams of the crowed echoed throughout the city.]

*And here is the alternate ending! I was in a really dark place when I wrote this part. This was the original ending, but then I decided against it.*

Epilogue: The aftermath…

[The aftermath of the event was typical, and expected. The cure spread across the globe, just as the virus had originally. The earth’s population went from 7billion+, to 5.5billion+. It was a global disaster. The US government tried to take responsibility, however, the other countries chose not to point fingers, and say it was a “scientific disaster of unknown origins.” Typical. The group and their families managed to find several cars, and drive back to Grants Pass. They each went back to their lives…well their lives of rebuilding their homes. It was about a year before enough people felt safe enough to go back to work and school. This oddly had no adverse affects. The group, now seniors and juniors in high school, felt as though they could tackle anything that came heir way. The skeletons of the “deceased” we all dropped into the deep parts of the oceans across the globe. The crushing pressure would rid the world, of its darkest days in history. Despite it being a year later, people still slept with one eye open, and were as quiet as could be when walking the town…that’s to be expected. The bodies, and most of the evidence of the event may have been gone, but the haunting memories would remain…]
