Unavoidable Voids

Unavoidable Voids

A Poem by The Protagonist

Love has not a language
Intangible on many a tiresome tongue
Love is mute
As a sunless sky
As a depthless sea
As inaudible utterances and fallen debris

In an empty, quivering hand an empty glass is raised
To stars carried in on an evening breeze
To the intimacy of starless darknesses
To vastness and voids designed to withstand
The weight of only a single occupant

To gluttony and greed
The kind that forces man to threaten the forest
To words unsaid and left for dead
To those two eyes out at sea
Belonging to someone not drowning, but waving
In the midst of it all

To thoughts of you in shadows
And other dark places
Not where you belong
But where I want you to be

To myths of melancholy and misery
And all that falls between

Love has not a language...what a wonderful opening!
Live the sentiments throughout...there is true poetry in your words
Neruda would be impressed;)
