The Fear of Silence

The Fear of Silence

A Poem by SmileBig :)

As I hear the leaves crunch against your feet,

I start to acquire the silence between us.

We are so close together I can feel your breath

as we walk in rhythm through the woods.

And I have to accept that something is wrong.

The trail we have been down so many times before

 suddenly become a blur,

because even though people say words can hurt,

the lack of words create a pain that I could never understand;

a world of agony with no description,

because I cant find a reason for the silence.

We continue walking in rhythm

but we aren't so much in rhythm anymore.

We verge away from each other,

it’s too far to ignore any longer.

Our vocal cords do not seem to cooperate,

to express our concerns instead of creating this distance,

between love and resentment,

we can’t do anything about it,

too unable to stay together

but too unable to say goodbye.

I have a fear of silence,

because once everything goes quiet,

a relationship dies.
