You Died Today (Texting & Driving)

Don't text and drive...please.

You died today 

Texting "hey" 

You crashed your car 

Texting "where r" 

You suffer injuries 

Texting "meet me" 

You suffer memory loss 

Texting "we lost" 

You looked down to read 

And In front of you, you didn't see, 

A bicycle and a guy, 

The man you made die. 

You typed on your keyboard, 

Just one word, "sure" 

That was the last text you sent. 

Cause in a second you were dead. 

You looked away and laughed 

And sent a message back. 

Then you flipped your car, 

Now your legs a metal bar. 

You rode as a passenger, 

And flew head first, 

Into the windshield 

Youll never heal. 

You died today, 

By simply saying "hey"

Don't text while drive...don't be that stupid...know your limits. Stay alive. It can wait.

I fully support the laws about not txting while driving. I never will. 1 I don't want to die and 2 I don't want to mess up my car! XD but yeah it was a great poem

Thank you. And no...they don't. In my generation especially (I'm a teenager), they don't want to look uncool and not text back, so they text anyway, even when driving on a busy road. They think nothing can hurt them...then theyre dead.

They have an app where you can use your voice like blind people use the computer.... to voice what you want texted,.... I never texted and drove, but I've been in a few cars that flipped and rolled with others driving!! : ) Crazy!! xoxo -Mark

Oh that's to true. I hate seeing people texting and driving, as well as talking on their phones. I get scared driving next to them too. If I'm ever driving and I get a text I get someone else to answer it if I can. But it's never that hard to just pull over for a minute. You really got the message across in the poem, in quite a dramatic way and you showed some of the harsh consequences. It was really nicely put together. But it's so true, which is the really said thing in it all. The last line just said it all, right there. All the simpleness of it but the horrible way it could end. Great poem, and such a strong message.
