Societal

Societal

A Poem by Stephanie Snyder
"

Written about a boy and my feelings for him.

"

Heartbreaking,
Loss of self,
Loss of worth,
Seeing them, candles lit.

A society to honor us,
To honor who we are and who we have yet to be.
He enters,
Lighting his candle with hers,
A meeting of phenomena in front of my very eyes.

Their light together grows,
A flame fed by springtime air,
And the shattered shards of a broken heart crash to the floor,
Louder than all else,
Infinite in my ears.

He will never be mine.
