One against itself

One against itself

A Poem by Lesley

This poem is about a special subject matter, but feel free to interpret it your own way. =)

"
They stand apart in a barren field
Alas, two silver swords shattered from a single blade

Once one wielded only in self-preservation
Now two lashing out in the dark spirit of vengeance

One will say, 'For justice'
One will say, 'For dreams'

Too often, soon after such words are spoken, a war is waged.

When the people cannot find unity
in the one treasure they all share,
then surely the kings will fall.

The kings will fall, crushed under the weight
Of cold justice needlessly served
And hopeless dreams that once could have been
Perishing from the earth,
each one piercing the others heart
With that bloody sword called own hatred

Tearing itself apart

I recognize this kind of hatred.. happens so often. Family against family, neighbor against neighbor, race against race, country against country, religion against religion and so forth, eternally. I pray daily for the end to all wars, that harmony will surface, but I know this is merely a dream. I love your words. They speak of this strife and show how hatred causes so much pain and suffering. Wonderful work.

Hey now, this is a very deep one with heavy dense symbolism all through the poem, a bit sad although.

This speaks to me of a family fued. Of difference of opinions that spiral out of control, eventually ending up in both sides in pain because of a lack of heart, communication and the ability to understand and or reason.
But It could speak to many of the old medieval worlds as well. Along the lines of Shakespears tragedies.

Overall it's a very well writen piece of prose/poetry. It certainly sets a visual in place, telling us a story of a breakdown and a war of some sort.

Great Ink!
