No

No

A Poem by ThePastelPrince
"

The empowerment of a single word

"
I grew up in the ghetto of SA and there were certain rules that you had to abide by.
" Don't snitch" was one of the big ones. But as add on for a chicana female, " You can't say no" was just as, if not more,important. I was born to be someones b***h, if I was lucky. That's what I had always believed, and believe to some extent today.

 At only twelve years old, I went into business. The younger the longer they could turn tricks.
"El beneficio es todo, perra"
If I had known what I know today, I would have said no in a heartbeat. I would have pushed off their sweaty bodies and thrown the fizzing drinks back in their faces. Unfortunately that's not how the world works. But as a message to all young girls, boys, and youth;

"You can say no."

From the tragedy of a way of life to something akin to salvation, I find your writing a breath of reality, not fresh - far from it.. but a guiding hand that's as good a commandment as any in this day and age.

Is it still the same? It would be and is in many places around the globe
