Playing With Love

Playing With Love

A Poem by Nicola
"

Expression of the cruelty of young partners.

"

So close, so very close, and you don't even know...

How you hurt me, and help me.

Kill me, save me.

Burn me, heal me.

All it takes is a word, a knife, a feathery kiss...

One or the other, another, like brothers

They're unified to maim me-

All they do is claim me, and I'm yours.

I serve you now, I own you now,

I grab and twist and stab your heart

And though we may be worlds apart

I hope you feel it.

Hope it pains you.

Hope it chokes you.

Chokes you like I choke on tears

When you spit your scalding words at me.

And yet, I run to you

Through the rage and thunder,

Through the livid lightning, to the eye of the storm, where you sit;

Playing with my love.

Intriguing writing, the imagery you create is very effective. Also, I find that the rhythm of the poem is very taut, which perfectly balances with the frustration, the pain and all the other emotions which you try to convey.
