Sirens

Sirens

A Poem by Nicola

Will you, Sir, oblige my tale?

To make you gasp, it will not fail.

...I've heard things about the sea

Stemming from folklore, you see.

After all, can we know what lies below

Where gears and oxygen won't take us

Down on the ocean floor?

It enchants me no end, knowing there's more.

Please, Sir, close your eyes with me.

Cast your mind below the sea...

...Imagine what might be.

Let my predesigned fantasy give you guidance and direction.

...I've heard stories of a race

Mostly female, I add with haste.

Do you know, Sir, how they pass their time?

I find it to be quite sublime.

They stalk the ships in lovely masses, take the form of lovely lasses;

And open their mouths to sing.

A symphonic sound so deafening-

And men like you fall to their knees.

Hypnotised with ease.

An ocean lady takes control of a man like you, and you're hers.

She'll draw your blood for sport;

The dance of sirens is one of death

Murder

Wrath

And strangled breath.

...How rude of me to forget you, Sir,

Here, let me demonstrate the Siren's Song

For your blood's scent is sweet...

Well done, with the imagery and the dance of your words. Ulysses got to hear the Sirens' song and live by having his men tie him to mast as his men with plugged ears rowed him pass. Keep up the good work

How beautifully creepy. I'm glad someone has finally written about sirens. They're so undervalued.
